Ultimate Exposure Tanning Centers

Worst experience ever. I don’t know where to start with the service. I’ve been here a handful of times, and on each occasion, there’s been a few eye rolling comments from the front desk, for instance «oh, you want to do a lay down — sighs loudly — now I have to go clean the bed.» And on another occasion the girl at the counter tried to sell me a package but talked so quickly and jumped from one option to the next that I literally had no idea what she was talking about. Yet, because this place is close to home I thought I could sacrifice good customer service for convenience, so the next time I went in a young man was behind the counter and I told him very clearly I would like to sign up for a one month package, but I do NOT want to sign up for anything more than that. He assured me that was not a problem and even asked me again do you want a «a non-​commit or committed membership» when I adamantly repeated «definitely the non-​commit.» He says «no problem» and then asks for a credit card to keep on file, at which point I asked him «Wait, why do you need a credit card if this is a non-​commit?» And he stumbles and says this is the only way to pay by credit card. We don’t have one of those machines.” So because I had no cash, it was the only way I could pay, and hesitantly let him continue, but not before asking several times, «you are not going to charge my card after this though, right? Because I do not want to sign up for more than a month.» He again assured me. And I bought a lotion even though he had zero advice on which one to buy or why. So I paid and tanned, then as I’m walking out, he screams after me «oh before you leave I need you to sign something.» I said ok sure. Walk over to the counter where he instructs me to sign my name on an electronic keypad, so then I asked him, «wait I’m supposed to sign without seeing it?» And he reluctantly flips the computer screen, scrolling fastly up and down so that I cannot read it. At which point I asked him to please just show me where it says non-​commit. And instead he launches into an indignant tirade about how I never said I wanted a non commit and that I signed up for three months. This kid continues to laugh at me and tell me that I am wrong and that he never said any of that, just blatantly lying to me after less than 15 minutes ago giving me an entirely different schpeal. He told me too bad, there’s nothing he can do and that he can have his manager call me later, but bc he was such a liar I didn’t feel comfortable leaving without speaking to a manager so I went back and demanded to speak to someone above him. I brought my fiancé and the clerk so rudely told him «you don’t have a membership so I don’t have to talk to you.» And continues telling me that I’m wrong and he will not call manager because that is not how they work. He got even more cocky and rude at this point. Finally he calls the manager, but while dialing continues sarcastically going on about how «they don’t normally do this but I’m one hell of a customer (while rolling his eyes). Needless to say I will not be back.

I was using another tanner in Wheaton that closed and sold their accounts to this place. However, Ultimate Exposure has no record of my minutes. Not cool.

Was using another tanning place in Wheaton. My wife and I wanted to move our spray tan business to this place. Not only are they twice has expensive for the same exact machine, they want some very specific personal information that I think is illegal to require. Wow

Me: Mirror, Mirror, on the Wall. Who’s the Fairest of Them All?
Mirror: Hey White Girl! Why You So White?!
Me: Ugh. Rude, Much? Well Mirror, ever heard of of Melanoma?
Mirror: MelaWhut?
Me: *sighs* how ’bout Snow White? She was pale and she landed a prince.
Mirror: I thought she had seven dwarfs to help her?
Me: Wellllll… I’ve got 4 cats???
Mirror: Between the cats and the see through skin, you’re not helping your case. You look like a spring roll, I can practically see through to your innards.
Me: You’re killin’ me, Smalls. Fine. I’ll go tanning– but only spray, I don’t need your two cents on my wrinkles next time.
Mirror: Deal!
Me: Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho. Off to tan I go.
I chose to go the distance and head out to the Wheaton Ultimate Exposure tanning salon after hearing great things about their VersaSpa spray tan system, which isn’t available at their other locations. It’s supposedly lasts longer, gives a better color, less messy, less smelly, blow drys your bod, and mists you with moisturizer so you don’t dry out and your tan lasts even longer. You can imagine my excitement.
I ended up having to wait 40 minutes to use the VersaSpa since there were 4 people ahead of me but the girl at the front counter was both helpful and friendly and when I asked if I could use the washroom to take my make-​up off, she even went as far as to offer me some of the make-​up removing wipes they have on hand. How thoughtful!
When it became my turn to spray, the girl led me to the back room and gave me some very thorough and somewhat frightening instructions on how to use the VersaSpa, which is almost completely different than any other spray tan booth I’ve used before. You basically have to do 2 full rotations of 4 different positions that are sort of like doing the robot. If you upgrade to get the moisturizer spray, you can add another rotation and a half for the moisturizer and the extra blow dry. It was a little confusing but the step by step wall instructions helped and I ended up making it out alive.
The Next Day…
Mirror: Hey Girl, Hey! ***smokin’ sssmokin’ gun motions in my direction with little mirror hands***
And we lived happily ever after… at least until the tan wore off. So there you have it, a Fairy Tale about being very pale.
