Against my better judgement I purchased the prepay plan as it seemed like a good deal at the time. What I paid for it seems were lawn treatments that did absolutely nothing to combat weeds or enhance the appearance of my lawn. I have also been gifted with numerous sales calls and people showing up at my door (despite the no soliciting sign) to upsell me on tree services.
I have repeatedly told them I can’t have them come when I am not home to spray my back yard and gave them plenty of windows when I am (I work from home so this is not difficult) and they never seem to be able to grasp this concept. I was told yesterday (after being on hold for 11 minutes) that the crew would be here today at 8. They have not shown up and after being on hold for 18 minutes I was told by the manager that he didn’t know who made me that promise and could not seem to grasp the concept that they can’t spray unless I am home.
I so wish I had checked Unilocal before I paid them a penny. As you can see from their numerous poor reviews, I am not the only person who’s experience has been spectacularly sub-​standard.
You are much better off going to home depot and buying your own products.

This company is only out to poison the groundwater and kill beneficial insects and birds. I called to get a tech to look at my trees, which have iron chlorosis, very common in maples, and should be treated with chelated iron fertilizer. I have a degree in agriculture so I know what I’m looking at, I just don’t have access to the correct treatment. The first time I called, they didn’t even want to see the tree. The guy on the phone was sure I needed a year long program of fertilizer and pesticides to insure my trees would be healthy. I told him I wanted a tech to pay an actual visit and make an actual diagnosis to provide the correct treatment. Applying unnecessary fertilizer would only pollute the groundwater and unnecessary pesticides would harm beneficial insects and birds which rely on my trees for their habitat. He said a guy would be out in about a week. The next day I got a call from Mike who told me I had aphids. I asked him if he had seen the tree. He said no, he was just sure from his experience that aphids were the issue and that I needed 4 insecticide treatments to fix it. I explained to him my background and what I saw and what these extra chemicals would do to the environment and the guy hung up on me! Do not use their service. Do not call then for advice. They should have their license revoked by the CO Department of Agriculture and I am even now working to make sure this happens before their business practices cause more damage. Can I give them a negative number of stars?

I can’t comment on their service, however their solicitation process is insulting and rude. I came home today to a flyer on my door which insulted my outdoor décor and stated that’s the reason why my grass was dead — «it saw your A’s flag and died LOL». Just a bit of advice, if you are trying to solicit new customers it’s best to not insult them. I will not recommend them, and absolutely will not use them. Be very wary! Many poor business practices. Avoid!

TruGreen always showed up when they said they would, however I ended up canceling service because of the borderline harassing sales calls to peddle extra services. I tolerated it for a few years until last month when a TruGreen «quality expert» called me at work after entering my back yard without my permission or notification to pull samples from trees to push extra services. This was over the line, and I only give them 2 stars because their scheduled service people always showed up when they said they would. My lawn looked good but I’m not sure how much that had to do with their service. I wouldn’t hire them again.

For $ 300.00 Pre purchased the year treatment plan (6 visits), tech didn’t show up on scheduled days, I called & he was claiming he was here a couple of weeks ago & too much «tender» is not good for your lawn! No yard stakes, invoice or packet on my door proving he even showed up… AND I was home that day… They SUCK! Have called twice & have been told that someone would get back to me

I wish I would have read these reviews before hiring these people! What a joke! We called on May 8^th to set up lawn care for our rental property with this company. They promised they would be great, quick and fix all of our problems. We left on a trip. As of June 10^th after we had paid an arm and a leg they had still not arrived. We got a recorded message on the 10^th that said they were scheduled to spray tomorrow the 11^th. THIS is past a month later!!! We called to cancel quickly, as we already thought they had been. You can get no live human after hours. So, they sprayed. We called to cancel first thing in the morning and they said we still had to pay for everything. They said it sometimes takes time, blah, blah, blah. The team in customer service is way less helpful than the sales team. They were rude, insincere and didn’t give a shit that we were unhappy and didnt get what we were promised! I am surprised that they are still in business. What a joke! I have never ordered a service that took 5 weeks to complete. No call or anything that it was going to be later than promised. I would tell anyone who needs lawn care help. Go elsewhere!!!

My lawn never looked worse. For the second visit, the guy actually ended up doing my neighbor’s (even though the bill had my name on it). When I contacted my local TruGreen, he said he’d fix it. Two weeks later… nothing Finally, 3 weeks later someone comes out and does it. And then ONE week later, it gets done… AGAIN. AGAIN. And then the lawn started to die. And I mean DIE. it has never looked as bad as this. it’s as if they poisoned it.
I’d paid ahead (foolish me) for the season but demanded a refund of what I hadn’t used. I’d never use these guys again (and neither would my dad who also canceled mid season).
There are so many lawn services out there you’d think that these companies would WANT to do a good job.

Word to the wise: don’t believe anything these guys tell you. They love to use a myriad of sales gimmicks and scare tactics to get you to sign up for their services. For instance, a salesman randomly came by my house the other day and told me that he «diagnosed» my lawn as being infested with spider mites, and tried to convince me that it was a serious problem and I needed TruGreen’s help to get rid of them. What a bunch of BS! I’m pretty sure I would know if my lawn was infested with tiny spiders. Nice try, TruGreen… move along!

These guys are the biggest bunch of crooks you will ever run across. First year the yard was fine no weeds. I swear the second year they sprayed weed seeds and helped fertilize them. I asked to have the service person knock on my door so we can go over the issues. He came through like Bill Murry in Caddy Shack and spayed more weed seeds and hopped in his truck and never knocked on door. I called to complain and guess who I got. The guy who came out and serviced my yard! Idiot to say the least. I fired him on the phone. One month later a manager shows up. I told him first year good second year dead grass and weeds everywhere. He said they are limited to spraying just on the grass which explains all the dead grass and weeds in the borders. Instead of upselling he starts to defend the quality of their work. Which must mean they use agent orange on your lawn. Anyways I fired him as well and said I do not care if a guy has been working on my yard and has been with the company for ten years! My yard looks like shit with him working on it. Now after I fired them six months later I get a call from GUESS WHO? The ten year employee to inform me I have $ 195 dollars in my TruGreen Account and how would I like to use it? It took two times to fire these gumbo’s and six months to even inform me I have $ 195 due.
STAY AWAY FROM THESE IDIOTS! I will let you know if I get my refund.

Oh TruGreen, makin’ promisses you can’t keep.
You said the brown spot in my front lawn was easily fixed. I started paying you a chunk of change every month, I follwed your instructions and the majority of the lawn looks fine (though not vastly improved), but the brown spot I called you about… no change. There even seems to be one weed strain that is unaffected by your treatment, so now I have a brown spot speckled with weeds. Then, you have the nerve to call and ask be to shell out an additional $ 150 this month for seeding and aeration. No bueno.
