The first time I came here it wasn’t such a bad experience. The food was decent, nothing great. I got a burger and some sides. Going off of that visit I maybe would have given them three stars, just barely. I went again and since it was Memorial day I was craving ribs. I rarely get BBQ from restaurants in MA because we just don’t have many places that can do it justice. But I figured, what the hell I should be able to get some decent ribs from somewhere and Memphis Joe’s is right around the corner. I was so disappointed it’s not even funny. Those have to be the nastiest ribs I’ve ever had from a professional restaurant. I can’t even describe it too well except to say it tasted as if I was eating ribs cooked yesterday. They were dry, had little-to-no flavor and almost had this kind of stale quality like they had been sitting around. I know at these restaurants they usually smoke the meat for a long time so it’s not like it’s cook 2 minutes ago, but it shouldn’t taste like I’m eating old food, and their dry rub sucks. I’ve been to other BBQ places that can at least make a decent plate of ribs. I would have done better cooking on my own then going to Memphis Joe’s. In summary, they arent awful with simple food but if you want a quality meal, go somewhere else. Even in Weymouth there are better options than this. Waste of money.

If you have any respect for your toilet, don’t eat here. Went with a friend for dinner, using a groupon, figuring a good way to check local places out. I’m guessing this place stays open for the alcohol because it had a good bar crowd. The food was horrible. I had a combo platter which seemed to have a bit of a few things, fried chicken, ribs. I’m guessing the fried chicken was prepared by Banquet Frozen foods and covered with BBQ sauce which was disgusting. Cornbread was flavorless. Baked Beans were flavorless. My friend had the Pulled Pork which he couldn’t eat because it was bbq sauce with pork in it(more BBQ sauce then pork) and the slaw and potatoes which he said were the best thing on his plate. Waitress was nice, and courteous but sorta just made a «nothing I can do about it» face when we said the food wasn’t really good. Won’t be returning, sorry.

Went on a Thurs. night at dinner time and it was oddly quiet. A few at the bar but only 4 people in dining area. Ordered a plain burger for my son who likes only pickles and ketchup. Well they have no pickles like never, odd. Burger was just ok. The fries– meh… I ordered the ribs with side of coleslaw and cornbread. Ribs had a spice rub but it was too smokey and not flavorful. Had a small amount of BBQ sauce but even that could’nt hide the fact the meat was dry. Not much meat on them either. Def not worth the $ 16. Cornbread was dry and cold, no butter served with it. Coleslaw was plain, almost no flavor. Place looked kind of dingy in general, ladies room was not clean and there were cases of beer stacked in the dining room. .The one positive was our waitress was nice but when I asked her about the food and what she recommended she says she doesn’t eat BBQ. Well ok then. Nothing about this place makes me want to return. I

The waitress was fine. Food took forever. I ordered the BBQ Chips and a Caesar’s Salad. The chips were supposed to have blue cheese. Not these. As for the salad the romaine was crisp, the plate was chilled but that’s where it ends. The salad was drenched in dressing, with tasteless croutons from a box and fake parmesan cheese from the green cannister. The was my second time at Memphis Joe’s and it is my last. Two years ago I tried the BBQ. I should have known better when we drove up and there was no smoker. How can you have BBQ without a smoker? Should you decide to go becareful walking around. The vinyl flooring is coming up and I almost tripped.

I so badly wanted to like this place but on my first visit about a year ago when I went to wash up in the ladies room after ordering there was no soap. I told the waitress and she said they’d completely run out so she couldn’t refill it. I can only hope the kitchen still had some. I really don’t know why I didn’t leave right then. I didn’t want to make a scene. The food came and the chicken sandwich was good but the fries were tasteless, super thin, and overcooked. Definitely frozen. My fiancé wasn’t impressed with his cheeseburger that hardly had any cheese. There wasn’t much in the way of ambiance because all we could hear was«f» this and«f» that coming from the bar. We tried it a second time and there was soap thankfully but the food was still blah. Hopefully it’s gotten better since then. My parents seem to enjoy it especially because of the constant groupons for half price.

As you probably already know, you have diarrhea. If you don’t, you haven’t eaten at Memphis Joe’s. Stay this course. Your bowels will thank you. Our waitress was great. Friendly, attentive and prompt. However, the food was disgusting. The pulled pork was McRib-ish, the corn bread was stale and chemically, and the beans were flavorless. And then I got diarrhea. They even have a framed picture of Daniel Paille in the bathroom. Dude isn’t even good at hockey. This restaurant isn’t even good at food. Sucks!

Unknowingly happened upon this, eh, «restaurant» last evening. Suffice to say, it was gross. Server was pleasant & accommodating & did her job well. On the other hand, the food was terrifying. Probably should have known better when the brisket and pulled pork was served less than 10 minutes after our order was taken. The brisket was grey, sad and had an odd scaly quality to it. All in all, if you’re looking for quality smoked BBQ, avoid at all costs, but if you’re looking for farts that could choke a billy goat and torrential diarrhea may I suggest the pulled pork.

Came here and wanted to try something new. The food was good. We tried brisket and tater tots… the tots were out of this world and the brisket had a great taste. The only let down was the mac n cheese. It was awful but the waitress apologized and removed it from our bill. The reason it is only 3 stars is the dining room is part of the bar. There seem to be a few«regulars’ that scream and yell and act like this bar is their home. This made us hurry through our meal just to leave. I probably wont go back, because of the atmosphere in particular a lady who screamed and yelled the entire time we were there… this place could be great

I finally got the chance to check this place out. I wasn’t really sure what to expect. It’s homier than I expected. I sat at the bar and was promptly greeted by Megan the wonder worker. She helped me with recommendations and I had a surprisingly tasty Dels Shandy. The place was clean, the food was good and the service rocked. I’ll go back for sure.

My girlfriend and I had a good meal here last night. I ordered ribs and they were very smoky and just falling off the bone. Delicious. My girlfriend had pulled pork which was also tasty, and all the sides came out fresh and piping hot. Our server was speedy and attentive, and overall we had a positive experience. The place was clean, plenty of TV’s to watch the game. This is not soaking in sugary sauce bbq that I think many people are expecting. It is vinegary, smoky, and fresh — just keep an open mind and give it a chance. 5 stahs.

This place is absolutely disgusting and im not sure whats worse the staff or the food. Nothing worse than a place faking its a bbq place. Id rather get a rodeo burger from burger king than eat any of the crap they have here

Honestly I’m not to sure why there are so many bad reviews. I had a pretty good time. We enjoyed our meal and all and all it was a good time. The food was portioned right. I liked the tables and chairs. Rustic really fit well. The staff was attentive. Lots of TV’s and not too loud. Good beer selection and the food was good. Exactly what your looking for well that is if your looking for BBQ. The sauce was on point. And the mason jar beer was just enough for the price. I don’t know about some people but massive mason jars are a bad thing. The beer gets piss warm. This place needs some work but it will get there. I hear they have live music as well. We will be back.

I cannot commit to downgrading MJ’s to two stars on my second visit but I would like to note that the food is still underwhelming. The sides were improved this visit including the corn bread. Perhaps they took note of the many critical reviews. The service was adequate. The meat, on the other hand, is weak BBQ fare. Not super tasty. I still think the Rosemary flavor in the sauce is weird.

The Service is the best. But food are not good at all, no taste of Rib or meat. The place is very noisy at the Bar and inside restaurant isn’t cute at all. Thanks for Groupon that we’re not paid for the full price.

Wow. Where to begin. I only stopped here because I am local and was curious despite the bad reviews. I ordered a blue moon draft and it came in a baby mason jar. Wtf. I didn’t want a ½ a beer. Had some pop 90’s station playing which does not make it seem like a bbq place. 2⁄3rd of the bartenders were cute and the one I got did not seem interested in me at all. I ordered the chili which came with cornbread. As I wrote this a glass of guiness was ½ foam sitting on the bar. Glad I didn’t order that. Napkin was already dirty. Chili came out. Pic attached. Looks like french onion soup. Cornbread is tiny, cold and tastes like the one they sell at Bjs wholesale. Chili was mostly tomatoes and peppers. Will never come here again. Can’t wait till they close

Small cozy place. A little on the dim side due to the multiple TVs. The price was reasonable. The serving portions were great took some left over. The service was OK… They got the job done I guess. Now for the food… It was OK at the most. I have had better BBQ, I ordered the BBQ ribs that where on the dry side and somewhat cold. The Memphis nachos as appetizers was huge and not bad. My wife got a classic burger and it was just a normal burger, nothing special(the bun was on the sweeter side). The drinks were great, they aren’t cheap with the alcohol. So my verdict is, unless you got a Groupon code like me, there are better BBQ places. However I did note a lot of «regulars» so who knows maybe it’s just us.

We were not as impressed as on the initial visit. The Memphis chicken was again good and a good deal. The hamburger was just ok. There were four other parties eating in the dining room; we were the only ones last time. Didn’t see any sketchy clientele on this Sunday afternoon, but they are not concerned about earning Michelin Stars. The bar floor has missing pieces, the kitchen area that one can see anyway is not up to surgical standards let us say, and the salt and pepper shakers were so greasy that GrandMa wrapped a napkin around them to use them.

I was told not to order food here… but I was starving! So I got a small salad and some wings. We had to order blue cheese for our celery and carrots, and then more sauce for the wings. Salad was salad, but the wings, I did not care for. I think they were undercooked and got immediately turned off. Bar tender was meh, not overly friendly, but by no means rude or inattentive. Beer selection was decent and they have keno. I wouldn’t make this place a destination but it’s probably good enough for a local hangout.
