As usual my order was perfect and the personal service far exceeds all other establishments!

I’ve spent thousands at Dependable Cleaners the past ten years so today felt like a breakup. As another Unilocal member mentioned, they recently started bar coding all dry cleaned items by gluing bar codes onto all garments unbeknownst to the customer. It’s deceiving to not even ask or mention to the customer that they’re invasively tagging my(often expensive) clothes with a sticker that you have to go to the cleaners to remove. When I stopped by to have 25+ tags removed, I asked the cashier why it wasn’t even mentioned to the customer. Instead of an apologetic response of any sort, it was a slew of excuses. 1) most dry cleaners do this 2) if this isn’t done then we would puncture a hole tag in your clothing and my favorite response… 3) if you don’t have your items barcoded then we are more likely to lose your clothes, really!?! My clothes never went missing pre barcoding. When I complained about the PERMANENT stained glue residue left in place of every barcoded label, I was told«well that’s so it keeps your seams in place.» Thanks? Why would you put it on a seam anyhow? So goodbye dependable cleaners. You cleaned my clothes, took lots of my money but ultimately I felt lied to without any sort of apologetic sympathy for permanently staining my clothes with glue marks. A little bit of honestly and better customer service would have gone a long way. I’m taking my business elsewhere… A place that has friendly staff and doesn’t leave marks on your clothes, oh and a lot more reasonably priced.

OK job overall, but I left because they are waaaay too expensive. $ 2.50 for a laundered shirt??? They have become too big and too impersonal. I switched to Shea/Plaza Cleaners next to Walmart and they are Outstanding. Fair pricing and the owner actually appreciates your business, unlike the impersonal Dependable folks. Too bad for Dependable, I wear suits/shirts everyday and my wife is also a professional, We spent a small fortune there — each and every week… a lesson to contain costs and appreciate your loyal and frequent customers. Dependable needs to look up the Pareto Principle…80% of your business comes from 20% of your customers… I was one of the 20%.

I am have been loyal fan of Dependable Cleaners for over 10 years, but now I’m afraid it’s time to find another option. Without advance notice to customers or permission Dependable has been attaching non-removable bar codes to all shirts. I appreciate the shift to a new technology, but something really bothers me that they are altering customer shirts without explicit permission. These tags cannot be removed by the customer, doing do will risk damaging the garment. Furthermore, only the store can do so but in order to have shirts processed through their new state of the art system, you must have clothes laundered with them. So much for consumer choice. My choice will be to find another dry cleaner who will not attach non-removable barcodes to my shirts. Dependable will be losing lots of customers once people figure out this is happened.

Nothing but problems with Dependable Cleaners Weymouth. They are so big now that personal service is out the window. Their cleaning processes are standardized, but that means they will only go so far to take care of your cleaning needs. The only reason they get my business now is because of the one-day turnaround time. But in so doing I have to put up with their fairly frequent screw-ups. Last year I took 2 expensive(‘$ 200 ea) dress shirts there for cleaning. Shirts were returned with most buttons destroyed. They offered to fix but said it might be a while, they would have to contact the shirt maker. About two weeks later the repairs were completed. Shortly after I again took one of these shirts there, making specific note of the buttons and mentioning my past experience. They assured me they would take care. The shirt came back next day, again with buttons destroyed. Fix again… A few days later I was there and saw the District Manager, and talked to her about the issue. Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a manager so unresponsive and uncaring toward a customer. She acted as if it was my fault the buttons were broken, and that I shouldn’t have given them the shirt the second time. My most common issue with Dependable is their failure to carry out specific cleaning instructions. I can point out a stain, and they will tag it, but the returned shirt comes back the same way. This is about 50% of the time. Now, I see they put a tag on the shirts saying«we have cleaned these as much as modern technology allows, further cleaning may damage the item…). So I just take my shirts down the street to Shea Cleaners, and they always manage to get the stain out. If there was a close one-day turnaround alternative to Dependable, they would get all my business.
