This is a horrible fast casual imitation(not authentic) Mexican food. Their horchata is processed and not made from scratch like it is in Mexico also it is sickly sweet, much sweetier than the traditional Mexican versions found in Oaxaca and elsewhere in Mexico. The food was absolutely rubbish and basically the smothered hamburger burrito came out less than three minutes after I ordered it which means the food wasn’t prepared fresh, nor was the meat cooked when ordered and they use microwaves obviously if your smoothered burrito takes less than 5 minutes to your table then you know it’s not prepared fresh and with love. Would not recommend this overpriced and impostor Mexican food to anyone especially since their prices are kinda high and the food isn’t even prepared fresh to order and the meat as well. You know the feeling and taste when you taste freshly prepared and non frozen foods and produce and this place failed miserably. Their green chile sucks as do their burritos which are smaller than either a Qdoba or Chipotle burrito. Don’t go here and if your Mexican you will be severely disappointed with the the quality and taste of the food here.

Really good chili cheese fries, First time there yesterday and overall the food was good, If your like me and lived on the east coast the attitude wont bother you, If you are a native you will probably be leaving a bad review for customer service, But hey as long as the food is good I don’t care after all there not waiters lol!!!

Small portions for the price & no hot sauce of any kind. The flavours are alright but I’ll pick somewhere else next time.

I’m glad this chubbys is back, I like this one better that 38th because the people that work here are far nicer. The only reason for 3 stars is consistency, most of the time it’s great but 1 out of 5 times everything is just off, fries uncooked ect… But by far one of my favorite lunch stops.

A few weeks ago I ordered the extra large smothered fries and a cup of chicharrones and I was supremely disappointed. I stepped in the place, saw a few people waiting for their order. I took a few seconds to make up my mind decided to go with the so called«Chubby Sized» smothered fries and a cup of chicarrones. A young woman, late teens maybe early twenties, took my order, and she didn’t even greet me. I saw a guy who had a baseball cap backwards, come up to the front, he was probably the chef, right before I made my order. Waited for like ten minutes and food was ready and then I made my way out. The cashier didn’t even say goodbye or anything. That’s some top notch customer service there /sarcasm Then I drove back home and was excited to chow down on the world famous Chubby’s smothered fries. Homeboy didn’t put any effort at all making my food. Busted out the good ‘ol stapled plate and was in disbelief. That wasn’t no extra large chili cheese fries, large at best though. I popped open the lid to the cup of chicarrones, and what do you know? It was mostly a bunch of crumbs. To my surprise, there was no spicy kick when I took my first bite. This really couldn’t be happening but it was true. That was truly a waste of $ 14 if you ask me. I’ll never step foot in here again. What a disgrace to the«Original Chubby’s» name. If you’re reading this still, stick with the other two Chubby’s at all costs.

This is far from the Original Chubbys on 38th. I’ll settle for this one when not wanting to go all the way to the real Chubbys but this place is way over priced… This location was real good back before it closed the first time than it was made into a diff mex restaurant(which sucked btw) and now its back to «Chubbys»

I’m sure you’ll leave with food poisoning. I’ve been to this chubby a before and my first experience wasn’t great. I got food poisoning and I was pregnant. 4 years later I decided to give them a try. So on may 8,2015 I decided I’ll go try them again. I was craving smothered fries(no I’m not pregnant) anyway we waited 35 minutes for our dang order. 2 orders of smothered fries. One for me and one for my husband. We sat in the back by the restrooms until we could get a seat in the front. We still hadn’t got our food so I decided I wanted to go to the bathroom and wash my hands before I eat. I went in the bathroom and the toilet was over flowing with diarrhea water.(I almost passed out lol) in the sink there was a hair net. Why was there a hair net? These people don’t wear any kind of protectant on there hair. The floor was wet, I don’t know what I stepped on. I got out really fast. Well I seen this big lady in the back making the food. Next thing you know she’s in the bathroom unclogging the toilet. Only rubber gloves is what she had to protect herself. Then when she was done and went back to the kitchen to cook food. I could not believe my eyes. She had baggy ass clothes what if her long shirt dipped in the toilet or the diarrhea water splattered on her. I don’t know but still gross she went back to make the food. I was already eating my food when I noticed she went back to the kitchen. But believe me I did not even finish my food I lost my appetite. Never again will I be going here.

Hate this place. I would give 0 stars if I could. I used to come to this location all the time when this place was first open. With the new opening, we were excited to come back. Yet every time I went to this place, something was ALWAYS wrong whether the order was incorrect, continuos bathroom problems after eating the food, the stinky sewer smell or the missing $ 20 in my wallet. The manager comes in and shows us a bunch of crappy blurry pictures that doesn’t show anything. I live a few minutes away from here but I’d rather drive 30 minutes to the other Chubby’s location than to ever come back here for mediocre food and shitty service. If you want to have stomach problems or get robbed, come here.

Was just a Chubby’s on 72nd. Worst service in the world. Two very young girls so busy texting and gossiping to take my order. Finally when I did give my order they continued to gossip. Then when my food came out they continued talking instead of giving me my food. So it sat for some time. It wasn’t until I got up to get it myself that they stopped talking and gave a new order out before I got mine. It was awful service. The place is very dirty and old. I won’t go back. The food was just ok.

Terrible! Monday night, not very busy but the Beans were plain and tasteless, cheese was fake generic and discusting! And my taco meat was crispy, dry and apparently over cooked, and the taco shell was stale! all 4 of us agree, this place is nasty! Never ever again!!!

I like this location because it’s cleaner it’s bigger friendlier and they give you bigger portions. I always order the double green chili cheeseburger and it’s a big size the service is great and no problems with it I recommend you go to this location and try it out for yourself and they have smothered tots

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. This is not a Chubby’s regardless of what they want you to believe. First visit I ordered a smothered Mexican Hamburger small fry and small drink. Pricey, hamburger was beyond well done, the beans tasted like they were from a can, and the green chile was a bit odd. I only ate a few bites and tossed the rest. But since they had just opened I thought I would give them another try after they have been open for a while. Second visit a few months later, I order a smothered breakfast burrito small fry and a small drink. Still pricey, burrito was just ok, and the green chile was still odd. I decided I would not go back. Driving by today I thought I would try them one more time. I really want them to be good. I love Chubby’s. I have been eating at the 38th St. location regularly for over 30 years and having one on the north side would be great. I should have just driven by. No cars in the lot at noon. Went inside, only four customers at the same table eating lunch. Not a good sign. As I was about to order I did the math and decided $ 13.00 for a burrito, fry and drink, served on a paper plate, in a dirty restaurant was to much to ask. Again, I don’t know how so many places can use the Chubby’s name but this is definitely not a Chubby’s. The green chile is similar but not the same, the food is not fresh, and the beans are definitely from a can. Disgusting.

I tried Chubby’s on 72nd and Federal for the first time with my wife and daughter. My wife and I both had the beef burrito smothered with green chili. Warning their chili only comes Hot. Now I don’t mind hot but this was just hot without flavor. It was too hot for me much less for my wife and daughter. The beef was salty and tasted burnt and when we ordered the tater tots for my daughter, they were overly fried. Needless to say we threw away our food and will never return.

I’m satisfied with the quality of food, service and cleanliness. I honestly feel that the wait is similar to the Chubby’s on 38th so don’t understand the complaints. People can at least fit in the building here versus being crammed in a very small lobby and door way entrance like on 38th. I’m also not going to judge a place based on childhood memories. That is irrelevant to the actual rating of the food here. I treat them well and they treat me well so haven’t doubt with any attitudes.

Well if you take away the 20 minute wait after we ordered, the fact the mild was wayy to spicy for my daughter and the medium was hotter than most places hot this place would be great. The food itself was simply hamburger with very little seasoning served on paper plates that didn’t hold up to the knife, witch would explain why the dining room was so dirty. But hey, they had a new full service coke machine… My advice, don’t even look at this place when you drive by!

Not bad, but I will stick with the original on 38th. While the food here is tasty, it certainly does not bring back the memories from my childhood of sitting down to a big plate of Chubby’s chili cheese fries. Things are just… different. The wait time is also really long which makes placing a to-go order a hastle. I definitely wouldn’t avoid this place, but I would rather make the drive to the true original on 38th.

Terrible! Stay away from this location, it’s nothing like the original on 38th. Never in my life have I felt the need to write a bad review but this place deserves it. I have been to this location twice. My order came out wrong both times(I ordered exactly how it showed on the menu) and I have to fight with the rude employees to get it corrected. The prices at this location are higher and the food is not as good as the original on 38th. Do not eat here!

I really have no distinct recollection of what the other restaurant with the same name actually tastes like. I’ve eaten there before, years ago, and the faint glimmer of flavor memory matched with what I got here. Basically a greasy spoon of ‘new’ Mexican food. Nothing fancy, yes it’s a little above Taco Bell prices, but the sour cream doesn’t come in a caulk gun. Yes the to-go ‘boxes’ are two paper plated stapled together. Which I should note, are far more eco-friendly than the Styrofoam brethren. Also I drive like a John Pinnette on the way to an all you can eat buffet. That being said, I had no trouble with my green-chili-deluxe burrito leaking. Now for the food. I got the shredded beef burrito, delux. It was clearly large tortilla stuffed full with a slow roasted cut of beef roast. Seasoned nicely, but not traditionally Mexican flavoring there. It was topped with better than average tasting green chili, real tomatos, lettuce and cheese. Though the cheese was a little more ‘cheese product’ than I prefer, hence the 4 stars, it went down well and I had no trouble with my intestinal fortitude. A good Sunday lunch in my book. If you’re an adventurer you’ll feel right at home. If you prefer taco bell, just go there.
