My family somehow always ends up going to Kim Su because my sister loves lobster. I wish I could rate this place higher but the the service is subpar and does not seem to improve. The food is also just mediocre. I have only tried the dim sum once and it was good. The family style dishes tend to be on the heavy side and on occasion the dishes we get to use are dirty. We went on christmas and it turned out to be a terrible decision. Half of the waiters were not actual waiters you could tell they were just randomly hired so we could not tell who to ask for help. When we did ask for help we were ignored almost every time regardless of whether I asked in vietnamese or english.

I love this place! My only go-to place to get dim sum. The staff is nice and they’re really efficient. The downfall of the place is the parking because it can get pretty hectic on weekends. They have extended parking in the back but that gets filled up quickly as well. They have a large variety of foods to choose from and they’re always fresh and hot for you — never cold. It’s a great place for family and friend gatherings.

Friendly servers. If you speak viet it is perfect but if not you will have trouble understanding what people may be saying but thats for any of the seafood restaurants. I always go in a big group so the service is excellent.

My family and I have been going to Kim Su for years, and have even known some of the staff that had come from other restaurants around Santa Ana and other OC restaurants. The staff is a really cohesive group and treat their patrons with the same camaraderie once you become a normal. Like I had stated earlier, this restaurant has been there for years and is much more of a traditional Asian restaurant you may have went to as kids if you’re of Asian-American decent, rather than the hippest or trendiest new place to eat. Though there are places of higher quality dim sum within the county, they tend to specialize in it while Kim Su treats it as an extra special service they have compared to their main restaurant. The dim sum does, however, have a great quality to cost ratio, especially their Chinese broccoli. In fact, there always seems to be a table that places a to-go order of Chinese broccoli by itself or alongside a noodle dish. The lobster here, cooked in a traditional East Asian fashion, is practically a steal per pound. In fact, many of the seafood dishes here have above-average to fantastic quality for what you would pay 25% more at some other places. My favorite dish is the seafood version Mee Ka Thang, the Cambodian version of Pad See Ew. They’ve recently added small bits of fish over the years(possibly cod?), but I personally ask them to leave it out as the dish is usually pretty wet(wet, not greasy), and the fish would be better a bit drier. If new to the restaurant, it often seems like there is never enough parking up front. Be sure to head to the left and behind the restaurant, and don’t be surprised if you see people double parked in spots. There also plenty of parking a block away in some residential areas if you don’t mind walking a bit.

Mickey Mouse works here. Billed was wrong twice. Once when she added the dim sum dishes. I corrected her. She changed it. It was wrong again when they swiped my card for the same wrong amount. They had to cancel and reswipe for the correct amount. Maybe they were drunk from new year Eve’s partying.

I’m shocked at the low reviews. I love this place! Yes it’s a very typical Asian restaurant with typical Asian service but cmon. really? Dim sum is delicious, decent priced, and very straight forward.

Came here for the first time today, first dim sum place that doesnt have white table cloths so i was surprised(not a bad thing), the staff is very nice, and attended us right away. The food is ehh. Pork buns were on point, so delicious! Honey walnut shrimp could of been better, it was alright, the shrimp shumai was not the great. Tasted very mushy and so did the long white shrimp rice noodle. Out of a 1 to 10, the chicken feet was 8, very soft and moist unlike some places where their chicken feet is dry. Its a big place but parking is very limited/small.

This was my first dim sum in So. Cal. The food was fine. I thought it was a little pricey for Dim Sum but maybe that’s the normal cost for So. Cal. I’d try it again next time the craving for chicken feet hits me.

My family has been going here for years for either dim sum or dinner. For Dim Sum: Usually we go on Saturday or Sunday morning. They have multiple carts and we usually get chicken feet, shu mai, congee, dumplings. They also now have other popular dishes such as honey walnut shrimp added to the carts even though its not really a dim sum dish. Sometimes it is hard to get a cart and sometimes they bombard you too much and sometimes force you to take whatever they have. It’s a hit or miss. What my sibling hates the most is that it is hard to get refills on drinks here because they do not have enough servers. For dinner: We usually always get the signature lobster dish. It’s by far mt favorite lobster in Little Saigon. It is very flavorful here. Another dish I like is the fried oyster. It comes on a sizzling plate with a ginger sauce. Like I said, my family has been going here for years not because it is the best place, but because it’s convenient, fast and no wait!!! Almost all restaurants have a wait on a weekend in Orange County that’s good. But I always find a place to sit here. It is good and fast. The service may not be the best. It is regular Vietnamese-Chinese service, however they aren’t rude about, they just do not have enough employees. I will forever always be a customer here since for me it has been a tradition.

Came here for Dim Sum only because it was a 40 minute wait for Seafood Cove #2. I regret everything. This place is unpopular and has no wait for a reason. I’m disgusted by the food, service(waiters didn’t even look at me when I asked them for water twice) and overall cleanliness of the restaurant. I ate 3 things and left. NEVERAGAIN.

Do not and I repeat DONOT come here for dim sum. I made the mistakes of going here to grab dim sum due to connivence and I so regret I did that. Barely any dim sum cart around and barely anything on it. It was only 11 am so I there is no excuses why there were barely any food on the cart. They are also very overpriced. I only got 5 dishes and they charged me $ 24, which means each dumpling were a dollar each. Mind you that the dumplings were half the size of other place’s dumplings. I mean I wouldn’t complain if the dumplings were good but they taste like something I get from 7⁄11(if they serve dumplings). Lousey food plus overpriced food equals a very unsatisfied customer.

I’ve been coming here since I was little but it had been awhile since I’ve had dim sum here. On my most recent trip here I found out they have PANFRIEDSHUMAI. So good. They also have my favorite dish that some places don’t have: Pan fried cheong fun. Overall, everything is pretty good and the wait isn’t as had as Seafood Cove 2. Now I’m starting to crave dim sum as I type out this review.

I always come here for Dim Sum as I think theirs is the best. I be noticed that there has been a decline in the selection, and more importantly, their service. It’s bad enough most don’t speak English and some don’t speak Vietnamese but that’s no excuse to treat customers badly. Had to ask 3 different waiters for water as each one said that’s not their job. We were given a stare each time. WTF! I’m paying your salary and keeping you in service. I realize that Asian restaurants don’t emphasize service too much but I think that it’s the Chinese-owned restaurants that have the attitudes. If not for the food, I would not return. The stars is for the food. Anyone know better place for Dim Sum?

Not a big fan of the service. Dim sum was good but parking was rough. When we got here they said they were out of the shrimp balls. I mean what? How can you be out of them if every table literally offers them? I prefer furiwa over this place. Better service and more food. Not much to say about it other than how it’s always packed with terrible service and dim sum is just average. Nothing spectacular.

We placed our order to go during the Holidays since there’s normally a wait for this place. However, when we went to pick it up, they weren’t ready and we had to wait another ten minutes or so. There was a big crowd outside but I’d say at least 1⁄3 of the restaurant was empty! Not sure why. At Newport, a block or so away, they fill all their tables as quickly as possible for a higher turnover. They seemed a lot more disorganized here. But the restaurant itself is bigger and nicer looking than Newport. My friends thought the House Special Lobster was on the saltier side, but I thought it was fine. It came on top of a ton of garlic noodles, which were pretty plain. They could have made the noodles much tastier. The pieces seemed way smaller than the lobster I had at Newport, and for about the same price per pound. I didn’t try the clams, but they were pretty big, and my friends said they were definitely better than the clams at Newport. The steamed Chinese Broccoli was standard as was the Shaken Beef, which was a bit too tender(they prob use tenderizer as I think Newport does) for my liking. But portions were plentiful and we had a lot leftover. The food was definitely comparable to Newport Seafood, but I think I prefer the lobster at Newport better. Service seems to move along quicker at Newport.

Another location I thought I had already reviewed long ago. None the less here we go… Kim Su gets 4 stars based on the fact that it is ridiculuously spacious and roomy. The food is ok though I wish it would have been more piping hot(dim sum that is) but ah wells Im ok with it. The scenery was nice and I’ve been here for dinner before too(good stuff). They gots that lobster tank, dim sum, its really your typical chinese restaurant. So the fact that it is roomy gives it a four star for me. It would have been 5 stars but parking is extremely bad here. Good luck finding a spot. PS lots of hotties(yeah I had to throw that back in)

Large Menu! They serve seafood, dim sum and all the typical Vietnamese dishes. Prices are reasonable but I thought a little high for the food plus the tip. It seemed more like expensive fast food. The food, in my opinion, was average at best. ~Bo Luc Lac-2.0 Stars I was starved and finished this off in less than a couple of minutes. The portion of meat was small. My friend tried a piece of meat which made it even smaller. I left hungry. The meat was lacking in taste and was a tad tough. I have had better. Perhaps, my expectations for something with more quality and taste were high. Service was AOK. It was attentive without being intrusive. I have no complaints about the service at all. In fact, the service was probably the highlight of the lunch. Ambiance-It resembles a very large dim sum restaurant. It was light and bright and very clean. Parking was easy for lunch. I guess there’s more parking in back. I am assuming that weekend nights just may be as tight as the other places in the area, Almost an AOK place for lunch but with so many other places in the area, I probably won’t be back. This restaurant is very large and is suitable for large parties. Overall, I have had better.

When you come here in the middle of the week this place is amazingly empty. My last three outings here have been on a Wednesday or Thursday anywhere between 6 – 8 pm. It’s empty. Super empty. I bring out of town guests(my family) here on a regular basis. When they show up in California, they request I bring them here. Even though it’s a good 1.5 hour drive for me to get from the San Fernando Valley to Westminster. But let me tell you, it is SOOOOO worth it. Where else can you get top quality seafood for 6 adults and 2 kids for under $ 200AND take home leftovers? Really if I go to a hoity toity American Steakhouse, I can easily spend $ 200 for two without leftovers. It’s hard to stray from the regular order: LOBSTER: Tell them how big you want it and it’ll cost you market price per pound. Maybe $ 15-$ 18 per pound. I’m not sure if it comes cooked any other way but we get it prepared southeast Asian style. It’s flashed fried with a light coating of cornstarch then bathed in a sauce of butter, green onions and jalapenos. It’s a little sweet and oohhhh sooo good. TIP#1: Ask for a female, the freaking eggs are soooo good!!! TIP #2: Don’t eat it when it first gets to the table, let the juices soak into the light crispy coating for 5 minutes before you start grubbing. SALT&PEPPERCRAB: flashed fried like the lobster BUT fairy dusted with a salt, pepper and sugar mixture. I’m guessing there’s MSG mixed in somewhere but who cares it’s delicious and there’s PLENTY of ice water to go around. FRENCHBEEF: It’s filet mignon, cubes and wok’d in what tastes like a sherry, sugar, soy mixture served on a bed of cabbage. Who cares about the cabbage… I could eat this and rice all day. CRAB&FISHSTOMACHSOUP: At least I think it’s the stomach. But who knows, I’m half Chinese, I’ll pretty much try everything. The big rectangular white chunky things is the mystery product. It doesn’t provide a lot of flavor but it does provide texture. SALTEDSTINKYFISH&CHICKEN(ORSHRIMP) FRIEDRICE: I know, I know, sounds horrible but tastes really good. This is a nice departure from the normal everyday fried rice. There’s a nice slightly burnt flavor that comes from the wok too. HONEYWALNUTSHRIMP: No restaurant can really screw this up. Candied walnuts and breaded deep fried shrimp tossed in a honey/mayonaise sauce. I have to say though, it feels like Kim Su’s shrimps are a little fatter and plumpier than most. FREEDESSERT!!! Yup, it’s a sweet warm tapioca taro soup to wash down all the butter and grease you just consumed. Perfect ending to a perfect meal. Don’t go on the weekends. It’s a madhouse and finding parking will be ridiculous.

My mom and I go here for dim sum in Orange County. I think there are definitely better places with more choices but this place is relatively cheap which is a plus. Restaurant is clean but depending on where you are sitting, some of the carts don’t get to you so you would have to flag down the manager and have them bring you a plate hah I like their fried shrimp on a bamboo stick. Mango pudding is not great as there is no milk on top. Chicken feet is yum!
