Best Caphe Sua Da ever, they skimp you though with a ton of ice. Would be 5 stars if they gave you more.

I use to really love Gala for their banh mi but lately it just hasn’t been tasting the same as it used to. Maybe my palate has grown and I’m a more sophisticated Unilocaler now… ok lets go with that. Anyways The banh mi here use to taste so different but in a good way. The way they make the banh mi and their meat quality was top notch. The pickled veggies too were on point.
This place is cash only as typical with most Asian places around the area. The service is nice enough I guess. I really don’t come through here for service anyways, but its nice. The parking lot sucks. There’s a ton of choices to choose from in terms of food. Like I said, I use to get the banh mi here all the time but nowadays I just come through for their café sua da.
The stuff is still very much fresh but I don’t know it just tastes a bit off to me now. Still I think gala bakery is one of the better Vietnamese bakery around.
PS the sesame balls and pâté chaud were on point too

Simple place to grab some Vietnamese coffee but parking can get pretty bad. Despite frequenting this place a few times, the service is practically non-​existent. Don’t bother asking any questions unless you want eye rolls and snarky repsonses… particularly from the man that works here. I assume he is the owner because his attitude is very arrogant and he acts as though he does not need customers.

This review is just for their iced coffee.
My friend brought me here to pick up some coffee because we both needed some and she has been raving about this place! Needless to say, her raving was well-​deserving. Their Vietnamese iced coffee is pretty good and is not as sweet as some of the other places I’ve tried. It didn’t taste as strong and felt a bit watered down as I continued drinking but maybe its because the ice melted so quickly! I would still come back for the coffee here if I was in the area because it was still a good pick-​me-​up and it’s pretty cheap.

The coffee here is pretty good and consistent but the the customer service definitely needs improvement.

Gala used to really be on point but their quality has really gone down lately. I swung by with my siblings a few weeks ago and was really disappointed.
Cà phê sa đá (Vietnamese Iced Coffee) was really lackluster as it didn’t have that strong coffee flavor and was almost watered down. We had to ask for them to add more «coffee concentrate» in it which is pretty shocking because Vietnamese coffee is known for being almost too strong for most people.
Had both pork and chicken pâté chaud –savory meat pies. Nice flaky pastry dough but was seriously short on filling, although what was there was seasoned nicely.
The bánh cam (sesame ball) was really oily and chewy.
I had the Bánh Mì Thit Nuong — BBQ Pork sandwich. It was a good sized sandwich, especially for the price. But the meat was way too sweet and the bread tasted old. Both such crucial components to bánh mì. I had to douse mine with Sriracha to counter the sweetness.
Despite everyone’s raving reviews here on Unilocal,I wouldn’t recommend it anymore.

Often when I am down OC, I will stop by this place to get my favorite drink (la dua dau xanh) pandan with mung beans. It never disappointed me Xcept for the fact that it had so much ice. With just a few sips, it would be all gone. Today, the ice was less but the taste was off. It was not as flavorful as before. I will switch it to 5 stars when the original taste is back. Less ice will be a plus!

Their coffee is pretty good but recently there coffee is gross. I personally don’t like the service here. The lady is really nice but she need to tell the people that cut in line to wait until is their turn! She pretty much just help the person that scream out first or is in front of her. Not Fair for the people in line
I like the service and the way the coffee taste at the Gala on Bolsa better.

I’ve gotten a few coffees and pâté chauds here and it is very delicious. You must try their Vietnamese ice coffee, it tastes very good and does its job with the caffeine. As for the pâté chaud, it’s better than a few places in the area.
They get busy at times but they are very good at getting you in and out. I’ve also tried their rolls there and it’s pretty decent. Not the best of the best but ok.
It’s mainly for their cofee and pâté chaud.

Their coffee is the best! I used to make Vietnamese coffee at home daily and I’ve only been able to get it to taste as good as Gala’s once.
Their little chicken pâté chaud are the best pâté chaud I’ve ever had. Slightly sweet, the croissant part is so soft and so is the meat inside. Perfect.
Best banh mi dac biet sandwiches are here. I’m going to add Gala Coffee to my last meal on earth.
Just walk in, order and they hand it to you ready. No additions, no fuss, already iced, straw-​ed.

Passed by here today and picked up an iced-​coffee.
Good coffee for $ 2.75.
Did not buy any bakery items today but will come back again to try them.

The bread not that good and veggies are too old and meat kinna old too. This place only good the coffee. They always get the order wrong what a idiots

Gala Bakery was one of the handful of places that I tried, when work got me to Garden Grove. Like most of the other places that I visited, I found it through Unilocal,saw good reviews and decided to give it a try. I’ve been here a couple of times in the late afternoon so I did not have any problem finding parking in the large lot that also hosts Stater Brothers on the extreme left hand corner. Each time I encountered a random person (homeless I assume) hanging around outside who insisted on greeting me while I walked in. This seemed to be a recurring theme at other establishments around Garden Grove which taught me to ignore these requests and move on. I encountered an elderly gentlemen behind the counter who was very sweet and polite. A welcome change compared to other establishments that I visited. The first time I got the Vietnamese iced coffee with milk (café sau da, $ 2.50) and pâté chaud (puff pastry with chicken filling, $ 1.85) and a sesame ball ($ 0.50). I’m not sure if they take card as I generally pay in cash around Garden Grove.
The Vietnamese Iced coffee was a let down. It was not strong enough to give you the kick that is expected from Vietnamese coffee, but the sweetness level was fine so with both these factors combined it became an overly sweet drink with too much ice. On the other hand the pâté chaud was too die for. I’ve not had many of these before so I don’t have a frame of reference but as long as puff pastries go this one was as good as it gets. FRESH, flaky outside with the chicken filling inside, that felt a little sweet. The sesame balls were not the hard deflated ones that I’ve eaten at Lee’s but were soft and chewy with a mild sweet filling, which made me like them a lot. On subsequent visits I’ve limited myself to the pâté chaud and sesame balls and have been satisfied each and every time.
I don’t visit Garden Grove very often but whenever I do, I’m tempted to pick up a couple of pâté chaud from Gala Bakery.

Straight up: one of the best Vietnamese iced coffees I’ve ever had.
The shop is located next to the Stater Bros, so, parking can be a little tough.
I did not get a chance to try their baked goods but will definitely try it the next time I’m here!

If you love coffee you have to come here. I told my girlfriend about this place so I took her here and she loved it as well their iced Vietnamese coffee’s are to die for I could seriously drink one of these a day until I die. and they are so strong I love it this place is the bomb I haven’t tried any other other items on the menu but other people have told me they are great you should definitely give this a try you won’t regret it

Their pâté chaud is like crack! Try it once and you’ll be hooked. I can eat these all day long.
Also one of the best spots for café sua da!
You might have to fight for a parking spot, but worth the minor hassle. Make sure you bring cash.

This place probably has the best pâté chaud I ever had. I had it a year ago and I still can’t forget how it tastes. That I searched high and low for this place. The dough they use is so much better. It’s very nice and flaky after you have one you just want more.
The size is a little bigger than the smaller round shape ones this one is more of a rectangle.
The only thing is this place is cash only. =/

This place was a lot smaller than I expected. But… it was so good so don’t let the low stock displays fool you. They bring out the hot eggrolls, Banh Cam and Pâté Chaud as they are sold so that they keep the freshness. I bought some Chicken Pâté Chaud and some mini Banh Cam and it was soo good! The Chicken Pâté Chaud was warm and nice flaky crisp and the Banh Cam was also perfectly sweetened with the right crunch. I just wish I bought more! Next Time!

Known for their coffee. Iced condensed milk coffee.
If you lucky, they have macaroons also.

The one item that I often come back for is the PATE CHAUD. It is French for chicken pastry in a nutshell. If you never had this ever, you MUST try it here. I can eat a dozen of these in one sitting but my hips and stomach line would hate me.
The soft and flaky crust is… JUST…perfect. The chicken filling is nice and moist. They are palm size and cost you less than a dollar each. You can’t go wrong here folks!
Besides the pâté chaud, I’ve only tried their banh mi once and I thought it was… okay. Nothing to rave about.
Moral of the story: come for the PATE CHAUD.
