Front Range Community College

Ups: Many of the classroom instructors are good. (I believe I got lucky.)
Downs: Online is a different experience. Melissa Walker sucked.
I aced the same class at the Division I 4-​year level a year later without any problems.
Front Range is run by Andy Dorsey, a self-​proclaimed atheist. Mentions of God find his dark side fast. I had to sue the school to get a tuition refund after he violated my civil rights.
I graduated with a BLS in 2011 from a Pac 12 college outside Colorado.
Now a Master’s Degree student and a teacher.
Aims CC was a much, much better experience for me as I transitioned from junior college to 4-​yr.
FRCC has accreditation and junior-​college level tuition, but its burned out staff and New Age Admins create an atmosphere most people seeking personal growth will find disappointing — cold.
Online edu and other local colleges being accredited makes it so that Metro State is Not the only game in town.

This my fourth semester here I’m getting a great education without breaking the bank. The classrooms are small and very diverse as a 30-​year-​old this is important to me. The campus is better then most community colleges. They have an awesome gym, game room, athletic center, coffee shop and store. The café is big with plenty of you to eat and study!

This school is kind of a mess. About half of the professors I have had are foreign and clearly have trouble speaking correct english. The tuition is still on the rise but thats no different than anywhere else. One thing that is incredibly frustrating is many professors require books that are front range only editions so its very hard to buy used textbooks anywhere else. The classes are challenging and that is refreshing. This is of course dependent on the professor but in my experience they have a good level of difficulty.

This school is really great, very disablity friendly which is rare in colleges. Great staff and not too large class sizes.
Sadly people at the social other students don’t seem to be as friendly or eager to meet or make friendships of others, even though there is a diverse campus.
I do wish people were disablisty open to friendships but I have noticed this among other places beside this school.
But the school is great.

Front Range Community College in Westminster is a decent college to get your pre-​requisite credits. The resources they provide are adequate for your classes, like a large library, computer labs throughout the campus and plenty of parking. The cafeteria is large and there is always enough room to grab a seat. I especially like that they have filtered water to fill your water bottle! I know that sounds nerdy, but I appreciate fresh filtered water. On another note, it seems like they spent their money to make the front and welcome center of the college look nice, but in the basement classrooms, the tiled floors are run down and the furniture is old.

All of the reviews on here talk mainly about the cost efficiency of attending this school. Not all people go here because it’s cheaper– so it’s not realistic to say «go to cu /​csu.»
I attend the Longmont location because I work, I am a young mother (20) and enjoy having a personal life OUTSIDE of school. I am taking pre requisites for a health program that I will attend at another school later on.
Overall my experience at this school has been good. Other than a couple of teachers 1) english teacher was a big big … «brat». Power tripping, trying to control every student to the best of her ability.
2) Had a bio teacher that seemed lazy lazy lazy, and a new bio teacher this semester that is even lazier! Who knew it could get worse…
As far as course work goes I feel like I am getting a great education and the case material is difficult– definitely do not think it’s easier than a university would be.
Also have had some wonderful teachers, really enjoyed the classes.

Community colleges provide a great service: your first two years at a drastically reduced price. I was also surprised to find that folks like me who already have a degree, but take an evening class for personal interest, can still take advantage of the Colorado Opportunity Fund stipend.
I’m learning a lot from a great instructor. My daughter has generally had good luck with her instructors, or has been able to run to the drop/​add page when faced with the occasional bad egg. She’s saving me a ton and making great progress towards an eventual university degree.

This place is a sorry excuse for an educational institution. The teachers are awful. The dean graduated from the University of Phoenix. You know, the online school that has no admission standards. If you ever need anything done, the staff tells you to go to one place to the next. A lot of red tape for a small school. I took a CNA (Certified Nurse Aide) class and 8 people were failed with no warning, after it was too late to get money back. They were given failing grades on transcripts. When the dean was talked to, she agreed this was outrageous behavior and informed them this would be reconciled. At the next appointment, the dean of Allied Health was seen walking out the dean’s office and all the sudden, there was nothing the dean could do. Upon taking this class a second time and getting a A, only 4 people out of my class of 30 survived. It was like survivor, each class period, 2 people failed.

I took a few pre-​requisites here, including psychology and organic chemistry, and found the classes adequate. Class size was small and there was plenty of access to professors if needed. Granted you may have to deal with a lower caliber of students, which is sometimes annoying during class discussions. But for basic clases on the cheap, this is a great resource!

As an outsider who never went to this school, I can’t vouch either way whether the academics of this place are good or not. Instead, I took the LSAT here last October, and upon entering the place I was surprised by how much this place felt like high school, except bigger.
It had color coded hallways on the cheap painted cement blocks and numbers showing where you are in the great basement walkways. I’m not claustrophobic, but I can see how in this place you could get that way… seeing as how there were few windows to the outside world found anywhere.
The classrooms were full of long tables with uncomfortable chairs and nasty fluorescent lighting everywhere.
Yuck.
Come to CU, whether it be in Boulder or Denver kiddies… that’s my advice.
