Ciancio’s At Hyland Hills Restaurant & Lounge

Service was snail slow last night. Stood up to leave after a 20 minute wait but saw waitress headed our way then sat back down. Our table of 4 was the only customers. Brought friends but will not make that mistake again.

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. I’ve been attending events here for years, NOT because I want to. It’s just that– whoever is putting together some of these women’s golf events is too stupid to stop scheduling them there out of «convenience». They have always been terribly pathetic as far as food and service (or lack there of) goes. I was hoping they would pull their heads out of their asses with the new remodel. You know, now they might have something to be proud of, so they would step up to the plate. NOPE. They just jacked up their prices & still completely suck balls at what they do– now it’s just even more painful with the cost associated.
I had to finally sit down and write a review because my last experience there 6÷26÷14 was so absolutely pitiful I have to draw the line & speak out. Also– if the women’s golf club EVER holds their post tournament events there again, I WILL NOT be in attendance.
They knew we where coming, when, and how many. That is typically how a «catered» event works. We showed up, as scheduled. We needed an extra place setting– as we were one short. After standing around forever, and trying to negotiate where we could snatch a chair for ourselves since no one was arriving with one, someone finally showed up. Then, we had to mention, we needed an extra place setting. Some one arrived later with a SINGLE fork in hand (no napkin).
It was supposed to be a pizza bar. There were about half as many pizzas as should be for the women in attendance, and a similar amount of «salad», if that’s what you want to call it. About half way through the line of ladies, the food ran out. We were told «more was on the way». We waited, and Waited, and WAIted, AND WAITED (we are talking 20 minutes– you know, about the time it takes to COOK the pizza). Then, they brought 2 (YES, ONLY TWO) more pizzas, no «salad». So, we waited some more. We asked where the salad was and were again told it was on the way. Another 5 minutes later, a bowl on chopped up iceberg lettuces showed up. YES! Our «salad» had arrived. Someone asked where the tomatoes, etc. was, and we were told «oh! I guess I could bring some.» AND… we waited some more. for a small little bowl of cherry tomatoes. SO, we all gave up, and had 1 slice per person for the 2^nd half of the group. Most of us skipped the lettuce. That was just too sad to even put on your plate.
We had our event, got our prizes, learned who won the tournament, etc. and ate our cake. OH, BUT WAIT! The last pizza just showed up– perfectly in time for us to leave. FAIL.
FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL. And the sad part is: I’m not even surprised. This has been a consistent failure from them, for years. This was just the most blatant and pathetic display of there complete incompetence.
Not that it matters, but they are NEVER nice, and have ZERO concept of customer service what-​so-​ever. Oh, and you know that single fork that arrived with no napkin? Turns out there wasn’t a single spare napkin in the room… OOPS!

I wouldn’t have a function here again if it were free! First of all, the staff is rude (mainly the management), completely unorganized, not trained and I blame the poor management for not doing a good job setting an example of how to take care of customers and properly train them. This starts at the top and after meeting one of the owners (clearly on a day she was stressed out), I should have taken that as a big clue that this was an indication of what to expect. It only got worse as it trickled on down to the management being completely unorganized and non accommodating (they take responsibility for NOTHING), to the servers being understaffed and not trained, to the kitchen sending out raw chicken, long waiting times for food and poor food quality. It’s supposed to be an upscale italian restaurant and the best thing (the only decent) thing on the menu is the quesadilla. I’ve tried the pasta and the sauce tastes far from homemade, the chicken is poor quality and the meat used in the cobb salad is even worse! You can get better quality meat at the gas station deli rack. Seriously!
It’s such a bummer because the remodel is BEAUTIFUL! It looks like your walking into a ski lodge in Aspen. What a waste!!!
Come on Ciancios!!! Take some management courses, learn customer service 101 and step up your game on food quality. The place is too beautiful and you could do sooooo good with weddings, events, reunions, etc. if you only had the right frame of mind in running this gorgeous establishment.

Don’t EVER plan a function here.
Food is o.k. service is THE WORST. We had over 100 people this weekend at a function they knew about for weeks. (months) They were so understaffed that people in their evening attire were clearing away their own tables.
When I asked a wait staff person (took me standing outside of the kitchen door for sometime before I saw anybody) if somebody was going to clear our tables she very rudely replied «I was just on my way»… REALLY?! 1 person for all those tables. and this was long after dinner was over & people were trying to visit over stacks of dirty dishes!
We were also told wait staff would be in our room to take drink orders because they didn’t want us hanging out in the bar area. WELL, we had no choice because we had NO wait staff in our function room. The bar was not stocked from the day shift that left the night shift hanging & they had to run to the back room for the most common of bar items for almost every drink order. each drink order took approx 10 mins. but people were waiting up to an hour in line to get a drink, most of our party ended up waiting at the bar they told us they didn’t want us to be at!!!
It rained earlier in the evening so all the chairs on the deck were wet, we asked several times if we could get someone to dry them or if we could get some towels. guess I should have known this request was asking for WAY too much from this staff.
It turned into a beautiful evening but we were never able to use the outside area & it was SO hot inside. especially since we were doubling as party guests & cleaning staff too. would have been nice to go out & cool off after clearing away our own dishes. lol
WHAT A JOKE! and an embarrassment for those of us who planned this function for our friends.
There were many people at this reunion with their own business, people with upcoming weddings & parties and not one person at our function would ever rent or ever suggest this establishment for anything other than golf!!!
Save your money & your frustration level DO NOT RENT HERE!!!

I’m a big fan of Ciancio’s. It’s a little on the pricey side, but the service is always top notch & the portions are ample. I would recommend the taco salad for quantity and quality. Though I might advise against the Taco’s. Not a personal favorite. If you are ever ready for a game in the morning order the Lunchbox drink at the bar. Excellent game starter. My only motivation for missing the 5^th star is the price slightly exceeds the quality, but it is a club restaurant.

My wife and I have been eating here for 20 plus years. And the food is better now after the remodel. This is just good basic Italian food nothing fancy. They also have a good breakfast. If you want a good meal at a fair price in a beautiful new building this is a good choice. It is at the golf course so in the summer there a lot of golfers in the restaurant. This is not a place if you are looking for a romantic setting.

The spaghetti and meatballs were pretty good. A different take on garlic bread (flatbread/​pita), but still very tasty. Nice salad and Italian wedding soup. Beautiful building. Feels like you’re in a ski lodge, but its meant for golfers.
