We really wanted to be able to give Casa Escobar a great review, the food is fantastic. The service is what gives this a 1 star review. They asked if we wanted to sit outside, as that was the first available table(if not, 20 min. wait). Sure, if they can bring us a heater, we said. No problem, your waiter will be right with you. Mind you, it’s 52* outside. So, we wait. After 10 minutes, still no waiter, but the hostess(not waiter or waitress) at least asks us if we want a drink. Unfortunately, I’m cold at this point, so we leave. Look, we chose to sit outside because we could be seated right away and we were assured someone would bring a heater we only wished that would have happened because we really enjoy the food.

Average Mexican Food… Nothing special and I suspect the kitchen prepares entrées in advance and reheats them upon inbound order. We ordered enchiladas. My plate arrived heated and the core center temp of the enchiladas were tepid. Ugh… Service was good and the prices were high. Overpriced for a plate of average Mexican food. Dos Amigos Mexican Restaurant — Thousand Oaks — is superior in food quality and quantity.

I love the vibe and atmosphere of Casa Escobar. When I walked in the door, I was like, «yeeeeaaaaaahhhhh» :) Low-lit, slightly contemporary design with a touch of color from the mosaic painted décor plates on top of the white linen tabletop. First order of business was the margarita — HUGE cadillac margarita $ 14 — but it does the job. if you know what I mean, hehe: P You will receive a basket of hot tortilla chips with a trio of salsas! YUM! We both ordered a combination plate with an enchilada and chili relleno. I have to say, I’ve been obsessed with chili rellenos ever since my gringa tongue can enjoy and tolerate the heat. This is THE best chili relleno I’ve ever had at a restaurant. These are not the canned green chilis that most people use. Nope. You can choose your filling for the enchilada and I chose chicken. It was very moist and flavorful. The sauce was amazing. Perfect spice and seasoning for taste — definitely not bland and not overpowering. They serve refried beans with the combinations but I asked if they had whole beans or another choice and they do offer black beans. They have an outdoor patio with heat lamps and candles! This place is perfect for date night or a girls night out.

Their food is good, but might be a little pricier for the ambiance of the place. Came with a group, so sometimes the service was spotty, but they were generally attentive.

We’ve been coming here for about a year. The food is decent(but slightly higher priced — maybe because of the zip code?) but the service has always been good. My beef with Casa Escobar is their very lax attitude towards dogs in their dining room — clearly in violation of California’s Health Code.(It’s totally cool to bring a dog into the outside patio area. However, it’s when people bring their dogs inside that it ceases being cute.) I was there about a month ago for lunch. An older woman brings her little dog into the dining room(no leash, no carrier, just in her arms) and proceeds to put him on her lap and eat her meal like nothing is wrong. The waiter sees the dog but ignores it. Two weeks later, we were there for dinner. A family of 6 were at a table nearby. There was a stroller placed between two chairs. We noticed the grandparents feeding a dog inside the stroller. One would have to be blind not to see it sitting in the stroller eagerly waiting for another bite of fajita.(The table was not in an inconspicuous part of the restaurant either — the stroller was parked right next to the hallway leading to the bathroom and next to the bar.) Still, every wait staff turned a blind eye to the presence of the dog. While I love dogs(truly), I don’t want to eat next to one(regardless of Fido’s good behavior). Why doesn’t Casa Escobar’s management enforce the health code?!

Nice place to go and I’d go back. Had the taco salad, maybe not so exciting of a choice and it was good, not great or special but not bad at all. I like the ambience, it is relaxing, seems like it’d be a good place for a casual date but better for friends to hang out.

This was my first trip here since it used to be P6. I had a party of 4, and while the waitress was nice and efficient, the night went wrong from there. At the start we were offered chips and salsa and guacamole. We were not informed the guacamole was extra. We asked for extra salsa and got only one of the three. We ordered our food, and halfway through the meal, a metal shaving from a Brillo pad was found in one of the meals!!! No management to apologize, nothing. All we got was a soup for free– the bill came and it was $ 160!!! No discount, no apology nothing. We were charged for sour cream, charged for jalapeños and I’m surprised we weren’t charged for the Brillo. The margaritas and beer very overpriced and poorly made margaritas and the one member of the party who was fed the metal shaving got sick from the«apology» soup. Very disappointed and I will NOT be going back. I’ve also shared this experience with everyone I know.

I have been going to Casa Escobar for years starting with there location on Wilshire Blvd in SM. Which is now the wonderful Wilshire restaurant(More on that later) and now the Westlake Village location formally P6 well those were the days and thanks for the memories lol… Casa Escobar is a really nicely dressed, appointed and appealing Mexican restaurant on the outside but sadly the core only has a few good dishes but mostly average food overall. The Chicken Mole was good to very good, the chips and salsa also good. The carne asada marinated has been hit and miss ranging from not so good to very good? I tend to go because friends enjoy it and the setting is really nice and happy hour is good even though I don’t really drink along with the attractive women that will frequent the lounge lol Well there you have it I can tolerate the food because of the setting and the sexy ladies that meander in otherwise NOBUENO…

Beautiful bar, excellent margaritas(skinny cadillacs — with Grand Marnier float), and good service. We had guacamole, lobster crepes, ensalada especial and mahi mahi fish tacos, and tres leches cake as dessert. In total, a very nice dinner! Recommended!

First things first, I’m not the biggest fan of finding plastic in my food. However, our waiter, Jason, was extremely apologetic about the situation which I appreciated immensely. He even took my meal off the menu! Came here craving good Mexican food. Wasn’t the best I’ve had by any means but had a great vibe and the food was about a 3.5. If it wasn’t for our waiter, the accommodating staff, and the atmosphere, I would not run back for the food.

I’ve visited this place many times. It would occasionally fall off the radar because the customer service at times is weak and the food fell right behind it. They would eventually get it together on my next visit. Last night was the end of my visits. I made reservations ahead of time and still had to wait. Then to avoid more delay we decided to tell them it was OK for us to just share a menu otherwise they would have made us wait until they found another menu. PROBLEMNUMBER1). When one goes to a Mexican restaurant you automatically think«Margaritas» well that’s exactly what we ordered and they not only came late, they came in a regular water glass versus the beautiful margarita glasses. How could they think that’s the same thing??? Tall water glasses carry more ice which made the drink taste watered down. PROBLEMNUMBER2). In the past, while you wait for your food to come, they would bring chips and 3DIFERENT types of salsas. This time we got a regular mission brand salsa paste. When I finally saw the waitress I asked her to please bring te three regular salsas and she said, oh they ran out of those dishes, when they clean and wash them we will bring you some of those three salsas.“ PROBLEMNUMBER3). We decided to order guacamole because we were not about to eat the salsa paste I has in my fridge at home. The guacamole came and needed salt so we asked for salt… THESALTNEVERCAME. PROBLEMNUMBER4). My husband got up to go and tell the manager on how disappointing the restaurant was tonight in comparison to the past other times we had been there which was great, his intentions were never to complain but basically to provide feedback. The manager responded by saying«Its warm out and everyone decided to come out to dinner tonight,» to me that sounded like an excuse. And in regards to the margarita glasses, the manager said it was because they’ve had to many broken glasses so they decided to go with tall glasses. *Other people were complaining about this too and some people started getting the real margarita glasses after this. PROBLEMNUMBER5). When the order came it came with cold and hard tortillas. That was the end for me, we decided to never come to this place again, cold tortillas and terrible watered down margaritas is NOT what I remember CASAESCOBAR with but I will now. They lost us and the rest of my family sine we had to travel 45 min to get there every time. Casa Escobar… your staff needs attention on how to run a busy restaurant who had a lot of potential at one time, remember… its what people come back for that you want to keep, don’t downsize.

I live in LA surrounded by great Mexican food. Out here though, your options are more limited, but even given that, this place is pretty decent. First of all, I love the chips and the trio of salsas you get here! For my entrée, I ordered the SOFTTACOSESCOBAR, which comes with two soft tacos, rice and beans. You have a choice of different meats, some costing a bit extra. I had one with carne asada and another with mahi mahi. The tacos are topped with lettuce, onions, cilantro and avocado. The asada had a nice grilled flavor. The fish is unbreaded and much more subtle. I’ve come twice now for lunch and have been pleased with our experience. Quick, friendly service.

We came in here for happy hour one day and the selection was quite extensive I think. The options were food were good, a little bit of everything. Also, they called the happy hour menu«tapas» but the portions are quite large, so that’s a plus! Drinks were delicious, I went with the bartender special — the prickly pear margarita. It was really good. I can see that this place might get pricey for dinner but I would say the happy hour is 2 thumbs up!

Another Unilocal success story for us! Spent 8 hours on the road with 3 kids and after settling in at the hotel we were in need of a substantive meal. Scoped things out on Unilocal and decided to give Escobar a shot, and boy were we right. From the minute we walked in the service was spot on, Maria was right there whenever we needed something, every order was right the first time, the portions were more than generous and the taste and quality was great. The kids(8, 10, and 14) smiled every time something came to the table and Maris said, «and for the gentleman…» They felt special and acted like gentlemen… bonus! Definitely give them a try. You won’t be disappointed!

I haven’t been to this place since the P6 days. In an assuming mini-mall next to a Cigar Store and Baskin Robbins, comes way of a beautiful in/out Mexican restaurant. It’s not your typical taco joint, or even Cisco’s down the street, this is upscale dining for Gringos. But… 1. Rolls Royce Margarita(on the rocks, $ 14) — with a shot of tequila and tasting like liquid salt, so not worthy.(2.5 stars) 2. Chips with Salsa Trio($free) — pretty trio of salsa. but stale chips(slightly better but still not great when I complained), and not such a fan of 2 of 3 salsa’s,(3.0 stars) 3. Enchilada En Mole($ 17) — the hostess and the server both said the mole was awesome, so I was all in. Eh, bitter not very good at all. Chicken and one shredded beef enchilada were good, better to try to standard enchilada next time(if there is one). Rich and Beans, when I added salt, were good.(3.5 stars) Overall, food was subpar. Ya see a nice looking lady. Ya ask her out on a date. Ya get to know her a little. Ya say«Not enough substance», but still ya are attracted and do her once. Yeah, that’s Café Escobar. Might call here again for a booty call. JK
