The Ice Shoppe

I dropped in here at the request of my mother who insisted that she HAD to have this Italian Ice from this place in Dunn’s Corners in Westerly. So, off my brother and I went to fulfill her majesty’s wishes. ;)
It’s in a teeny tiny strip mall on the same side of Rte 1 as the Walmart and I was skeptical. I’ve had my share of so-​so ices.
Mom’s order was root beer — chocolate — root beer. Strawberry cheescake for dad. Bro ordered the fudge brownie, straight up and I had my heart set on mango… but didn’t know what to put it with. The lemon sounded yummy, but not quite right. They were out of the pineapple and strawberry kiwi. I settled for the coconut ice to complement my mango. The owner himself (thick New York-​Italian accent… just for authenticity’s sake) was there and talked about how he personally makes all the ices, gelatos and ice cream. He even makes specialty flavors for special customers! WOW.
We take everything to go and head for the house.
All I can say is…
Oh.My.God.
These ices were so light, smooth and had a creamy feel to them that I’m just awe struck. Not overly sweet and the tastes were right on point for every single flavor we tried.
I can’t wait to go back and try more exoctic flavors–
Cannoli Ice?
Tiramisu gelato?
Oh my! I can’t wait for tomorrow!

Note: that they are only open seasonally… April-​ish through October-​ish and always closed on Monday.
