The lunch of sauerkraut and sausage with potatoes was really good and the service was fast and cheerful. The Décor was… well kind of original.

Second time here, this time brought the«old school«Slavic family members who love cabbage rolls, they were raised on cabbage rolls… all thumbs up for the cabbage rolls for this place. Forgot to mention the fresh bread here awesome. I had the sausage and kraut very very good. Another order of chicken and dumplings 2 thumbs up for that too. Don’t expect checkered table clothes here it’s a dive but a great place in dear little West Texas

I’ve been here twice and it’s pretty good but not great. The sausage is tasty and the cabbage is better than the last time. Didn’t care too much for the potatoes or ‘Czech Fries’. They seem like a weird German/Czech gratin potatoes concoction. Not really very Czech. The best part of the meal was the sausage and Czech beer. It’s really a shame they don’t have schnitzel and potato salad.

Busy place and should be! It’s a day later from when I was there, but home-cooked yet skilled. I liked the cabbage rolls and had a sweet taste to the sauce, the«fries» are sautéed potatoes with onions, and the sweet tea I ordered arrived in a huge cup. They are friendly, and there is a salad bar you can get started on after a long day. Worth every minute and dollar spent here. Wonderful.

Stopped in for lunch and was drawn in by the billboard in the highway. Looking for some home cooking. No frills but he service gals were so polite and I loved the stuffed cabbage«rolls» I had for lunch. Came with potatoes and fried cabbage and onions. Large portions. With salad bar and ice tea I think it was under $ 10! A great place for some home cooking. Will stop again when in the area. I passed in the pie for dessert but won’t next time!

Loved this place! And since there’s so few restaurants in West, it’s a good thing that this place is a total score! It’s small and cozy. The staff is super nice. It was our first time there, so our server explained the menu to us… what was Czech and what was American. My coworker and I each got a Czech plate. I ordered the combo that came with sausage, stuffed cabbage, and Czech Fries. It also came with the salad bar, which had pea salad, cucumber salad, and Czech sauerkraut, along with regular salad and toppings. The food was delicious and more than I could eat. The meal came with bread, but neither of us ate it. Prices were reasonable and you pay at the counter by the front. I would definitely come back here again and would recommend it for those who happen through at mealtime.

Holy moly! What a find. Best kept secret in West! We stumbled in after deciding that we wanted more than kolaches for lunch. Great southern-hospitality service, authentic country atmosphere, and home-cooked food served up with just the right amount of love. We got the open roast beef, chicken fried steak, and a warm cherry apple strudel with fresh-churned vanilla ice cream for dessert. All for 14.99! We’ll definitely be adding this place to our must return list!

Friendly staff and good food. Tried the combo sausage and stuffed cabbage roll. The cabbage is stuffed with meat and rice. Everything in a tomato ish soup. The sauerkraut was not my cup of tea. The sausage was nice. They also come with Czech potatoes, sliced, fried, not too different from the regular fries. They brought a basket of bread that they baked and a trip to the mini salad bar. Overall experience Was ok.

After seeing all of the excellent reviews, we were excited to try it. We were very disappointed. The regular French fries and the Czech fries had absolutely no taste whatsoever. The hamburger was alright. The Reuben sandwich had soggy bread with dry tasteless corned beef. The waitress was very good and very friendly. We will not be going back.

Ambience: literally a hole in the wall. Salad bar: not too shabby. Food: fresh and delicious. Worth every penny and the wait. Beer selection: good. Dessert: made in advance and frozen, then thawed the next day. It is better to buy a frozen dessert to go rather than one out on the shelf, unless you’re going to eat it whilst there. Family owned and operated.

I’ve been begging my wife to take me here for about 3 years(when we first got together) as she’s from West. So finally over Christmas break we had the little one stay in with her grandma and we went here. The place is all that I expected, there is a long bar walking in that draws you in the restaurant where all the seats are at. Very cozy and simple place that I could imagine going there 3 nights a week if I lived in West. The wife and I started off with some Rebels(which is a Czech beer) and some pirogues(first time I’ve had them), and I thought they were excellent. My wife got some cabbage rolls and Czech fries, I chose to go with the Sausage and Kraut option(they have an «American Menu» also, but I wasn’t interested in that, I wanted to get local). The food was spectacular and the beer was delicious. I will definitely make this a regular stop when we are in West visiting her family. Perhaps one day I will walk in and they will say«Hello! You want the usual JP?» someday…someday…

Awesome very unique food. Looking for a variety for dinner. Worth stopping to eat as you are driving across Texas.
