Yellowstone in the winter, nothing beats this place, all I wanted the snow coach for was to photograph and the pit stops were frequent, once they explained to us in the wee hours of the morning to use the provided towels to wipe down the windows we were good to go. We had been told no food provided so I had lunch made for us but the rest of the tour ate at the restaurant and we dined in one of the Yurts, really lovely outing as Old Faithful was glowing in the blue sky backdrop. Everywhere we went the tour guide pulled out her monster binocs and pointed out bald eagles, where some snow hares had been, etc. For the price it is reasonable, and the tip and park pass are added on top of that, sit up front the back of the coach is brutal for the not so young.

They offer year round tours of Yellowstone National Park, and if you’re staying at Big Sky resort, they’ll pick you up right at the front! I was staying at Big Sky Resort and ended up taking a Snowcoach Tour to Old Faithful($ 140 for the tour and $ 12 for park entry). We were picked up in a heated van at 7:15 am on the dot, and on the drive down to Yellowstone, our knowledgable tour guide caught us up on key moments in Yellowstone history and helped us spot wildlife. Once in the park, we switched to the heated snowcoach and quickly pulled ahead of other tour guides. This allowed us to view wildlife before it was disturbed by large tour groups and we were able to stay on schedule, avoiding snowcoach jams. We got to Old Faithful right on time for it’s predicted eruption and then had plenty of time to eat a relaxed lunch without the hassle of large crowds. On the way back, we saw the most spectacular sights: Firehole Canyon, Firehole Falls, Fountain Paint Pots, Sapphire Pond, and Fumerals. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable(and funny)! He was also very good at pointing out wildlife and great photo stops. It was an amazing experience, and I highly recommend this tour group!
