A little while back I stopped by to buy a big bottle of Tapatío. I think it was only like $ 3 or something. No big deal. Didn’t take long to find. I’d been there a few other times for the produce and meats. I pay for the Tap, the lady at the register puts it in a bag and I go on my merry way. Not 2 steps out the door, the bag rips and the bottle hits the ground. Hot sauce and glass everywhere, including my white Nikes and pants. An employee who was picking up trash outside saw the whole thing and was as surprised as I was. She comes over immediately to clean it up and tells me I should go inside and they’ll GIVE me another one. I go in and head back the the same register and tell her what happened. She tells me she needs to talk to management. The assistant manager comes out and I explain what happened. She tells me she can’t give me a new bottle of Tap without talking to the store manager first. Apparently she doesn’t have the authority to give a customer a $ 3 bottle of hot sauce. She calls the store manager. Talks to him\her for a minute, and hangs up. The assistant manager tells me that she’s sorry but she cannot give me a new bottle of Tapatío because I was already outside when it happened. Wow. Ok. I head back out and the lady that was cleaning up asks me what happened. I tell her what the assistant manager told me. She gives me a «Seriously? «look and I walk back to my car and leave. They lost a customer over $ 3.

From my friend noodlelupe: I’ve been a customer for years and am fond of the environment so I’m disappointed that I won’t be returning due to my most recent shopping experience. I was charged double at the bakery and addressed the issue before walking out, however, only 60% of the overcharge was returned. The lady argued that it was because she didn’t charge me for an item so she was only going to return part of the overcharge. Beats me how an item wasn’t charged when I paid double the price for my items. The ladies there hand write the number of items and price per item on the paper bags that they use; I did the math and every item was on the receipt. I don’t trust the manual entry of items and prices into the cash register and won’t be returning. It’s actually only a couple of dollars that weren’t returned but it’s the principle of not being able to work with an honest business that will keep me away; I didn’t appreciate their deceitful business. I hate to assume, but I think the lady overcharges and pockets the money.

Andaaaaale! So fun to come here and get some hispanic foodies. Located inside the Latino mall, this flagship of a store has it all when it comes to your Latin food needs and cravings. They also have a butchery right there where they can prep your meat just how you like it. It is pretty packed with things for such a «small» space. It does look a bit dirty, but im sure it’s nothing to worry about.(ish). Nice people, nice service, and lots of variety.

I LOVERANCHOMARKET! They always have awesome deals! Some examples include 25 cent corn on a cob, 25 cent hass avocados, 33 cents for a pound of carrots, and so many more awesome deals like that! The best part is they rotate new deals around so you get new deals every week and also get to benefit from their other cheap deals all year around! The downside is their produces tend to go bad quickly, so you’re pressed on time from the point you purchase the items. Given their low prices though, I am tempted to give this place 5 stars. Back when I lived in Sandy, I still made my way here every weekend. Now that I’m living in SLC, I’ve found myself frequenting this place 2 – 3 times a week! +1 Star: Prices are the best bang for the buck. They accept credit card +1 Star: Spacious location; they have a LOT of parking space! :D +1 Star: Huge varieties of produces as well as Mexican ingredients +1 Star: Good service! I’ve come here on a Sunday right before closing and asked them to grind up some chicken for me, and they made it for me without any questions or excuses! –1 Star: Produces do go bad quickly and it’s not the most organized or clean. Tip: All credit/debit card transactions require a $ 5 minimum.

I absolutely love this grocery store. I look through the ad every week and usually stop in on my way to work Thursday morning. Dirt cheap produce, but very nice quality. I usually don’t get regular stuff from the aisles because I can get that elsewhere for better prices, but the produce department is a phenomenal bargain. My whole grocery basket here is usually between $ 3 and $ 10, and we go through a LOT of fresh fruits and veg. They have good variety, with lots of interesting Latin-type things like cactus leaves, plantains, all kinds of chile peppers, Mexican green onions, etc. I once walked in and found a big plastic garbage can full of sugar cane stalks looking me right in the face! They have a nice meat department, bakery and a tortilleria, too. The trick is to go early in the morning before it gets crowded and the shelves empty out. Bring cash, because they don’t take credit cards for totals less than $ 5, of which you have a fair chance of falling short. Also, don’t be intimidated thinking this is a Mexican grocery store, because all the employees speak English and are perfectly welcoming and friendly. Finally, be prepared for your fruit to come in all shapes and sizes. You’re not likely to see a bin of perfectly uniform cabbages here. Some are tiny, some are huge, some things have cosmetic«flaws» like outy belly buttons on the oranges you would never see in Smith’s. But if you pick through and pay attention to what you are buying you get wonderful quality. Definitely give this place a try some time if you’re in the neighborhood. ***Update 5−31−12: I went for my grocery run this morning, in and out in ten minutes. I got: 10 heads of garlic, 3 lbs of carrots, 2 bunches of celery, 1 ½ lbs white onions, 3 large bananas and a 12 lb seedless watermelon. Total: $ 6.32. EVERYONEGOSHOPHERE.

The house specialty appears to be the Molcajete. Not because anyone told me that, but because 90% of the patrons were eating it when I visited. My buddy and I tried it too and I’d say it was just okay. The beef was way too tough for my liking. The chicken and shrimp were good though. Overall, I’d say the flavor was good too. But when you consider the tough beef, the average chips and salsa, and the average-to-poor tortillas — the overall experience wasn’t good enough for me to want to return.
