River City Grill

My husband and I were looking for a good place to grab a burger we came across this place we found on Unilocal since we were in west sac at the time and man let me tell u it was amazeballs great Philly cheesesteaks, burgers, and cheese fries !! The meat is well seasoned and cooked and their bread is so good I ate the whole thing I would definitely recommend this place and I will definitely be back !

I’ve eaten here quite a bit. In fact I typically eat there at least twice a week. The food is decent however the pricing is insane. $ 8.50 for a lunch special that only included a burger is a little ridiculous to me. No fries, no drink, just a burger. They consider it a «special» because it’s not a regular menu item. Most people consider a «special» something slightly discounted and a complete meal, if you’re gonna call it a «lunch special.»
Sadly, even tho it has decent food I won’t be returning.

Ordered mushroom swiss burger and cheese steak with fries. Burger bread was a bit too big for my taste but burger Patty thickness was good and doneness could have been a little juicier. Cheese steak was very good and so were the fries.

Yet another hidden gem in west sac. The food was made fresh to order and the staff was friendly. I would come back to this place for lunch for sure.

We get the breakfast burritos for our office here occasionally. They are amazing.
I need to swing by and try the burgers and sandwiches, which I hear are great!

The best burger and sandwich place I’ve ever ate. The burger was not too oily and the bacon, cheddar and avocado burger was delicious. The buns were perfect. I ordered fries as well and they were crispy with the perfect amount of salt. If you want a real burger and French fries, this place is definitely a must.

Any way you want to order the cheesesteak you are going to love it! My 1^st time I was not a believer, but after the meal, I had to let others know about this spot! Sometimes when I go in, I’m all alone, and able to watch ESPN all to myself! I recommend this spot to all in Sac that love a good cheesesteak!

River City Grill has some bomb-​ass onion rings! That’s mainly what my coworkers and I came for at lunch the other day.
River City Grill is a bit off the beaten path, in a largely industrial area. For such an industrial front, the inside décor is surprisingly nice. It has a sports-​bar type of vibe, with all the booth seating and Kings gear on the wall. However, there is no bar, far as I could see.
We had hear about the onion rings from a friend of one of my coworkers, so we came here. Unfortunately, the main dishes were mediocre, based on the others’ reactions. French dip was merely okay. Salad dressing seemed artificial. Hamburger overdone.
Onion rings were River City Grill’s redemption. The outsides looked overdone (very brown), but tasted great. They weren’t too bready, and the onions didn’t do that thing where the whole ring slips out of the breading. I brought some over to my boyfriend, who then wanted to know where I got the rings from!
Overall, I wouldn’t really come here for a full meal. Maybe happy hour. Make sure to grab some onion rings while I’m at it :)

Pretty decent. Stopped through a few times after work for a beer and some fries. Nice kid at the counter, chill atmosphere (I wouldnt mind watching some games there), and the fries are yummy: P

Great spot for a quick breakfast or late afternoon lunch during the work week. Only open weekdays. Located in the middle of the industrial area of West Sacramento. The cheesesteak sandwhiches are pretty darn good. They also got beer on tap for the lunch crowd.

Awesome food, great cheese steak sandwiches and fries. Place looks small from the outside but is big inside, big menu. I definitely coming back.

Decent place! I had the philly cheesesteak which had onions and a white cheese. It was nothing amazing. I am used to having cheddar on my cheesesteak sandwhiches and it also tasted like the meat was soaked in butter.
I still think Grand Central Station, basically across the street, has FAR better cheesesteaks. I would go back to this place but would try something different!

I go here every month for a team meeting with the Owners of my company and the front office and it’s OK. Very smokey in there, so be prepared for your clothes to smell smokey, like a BBQ Grill. I am a vegetarian and there’s nothing I can eat. Although I have asked them before to make a veggie wrap and a salad and they are ALWAYS accommodating to me. They have really yummy fried foods like zucchini, fries and onion rings. Decent place, service is excellent, I just wish they had more choices for a Vegetarian. My co-​workers love it, they always say the food is excellent and they also have plenty of HUGE tables. I think that’s the reason we have our meetings there. Tons of space to sit and talk, and it’s never too busy you can’t get a table.

Stopped in for the first time… Cheese steak with the works (combo). Fantastic! If the large number of patrons doesn’t say something, I don’t know what does. We’ll be back.

I like coming here for lunch. The food is always made to order and TASTY. Now, this is NOT where I go if I am looking for something healthy, but their cheese steaks are the bomb! I have ordered several things off their menu and I always leave happy and satiated! HOWEVER, If you’re going to charge $ 8 for a BLT, you better make it a DAMN GOOD BLT — sadly, theirs is NOT. Lame.

Found The River City Grill via Unilocal.Almost passed it up driving there. Looked kind of small from the outside but had plenty of room inside. You have to walk passed the tables to the back of the place to view the menu (posted on the wall) and order. Nice selection of burgers, other sandwiches (like the cheese steak), and other dishes.
We’ve been trying burgers at a variety of places every Friday for a while now. I would rate this place as just above average on the burger. I had the bacon cheeseburger and fries, and my husband had the mushroom cheeseburger with deep fried mushrooms. Not sure what the bun was but it was better than a regular hamburger bun. The flavor was good but I would’ve liked a thicker burger patty. Good fast food ‘skinny’ fries and non greasy mushrooms!
I’d like to visit again to try something different.

Pulled up River City Grill off Unilocal.Needed a quick, easy place to grab lunch during a sight-​seeing trip. RCG is off the beaten path a bit; you’ll find it in an industrial/​commercial area, not near any other restaurants. This place is clearly a favorite for locals, and the casual, sports-​themes environment is great for a family meal. The gentleman at the register that took our order was very friendly and helpful.
We all ordered hamburgers or sandwiches, with fries and drinks. Prices are decent (between $ 5-​$ 9). We ordered at the counter, then the food was brought out hot to our table. The fare is classic diner grub, but very tasty for what it is. The sweet potato fries are great (very crispy, not at all greasy).
If you want a place to grab a drink and watch the game, they have a nice big-​screen, so this should be right up your alley.
If we’re ever back in the area, we wouldn’t hesitate to stop in. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was merely for the dated décor and worn benches.

Excellent food in West Sac, definitely would go again. Try the chicken teriyaki and the tuna melt, they’re awesome.

I’m sitting here at River City Grill, which has been in West Sac for about a year now according to the cashier. This is the first I have heard of them. Found them on Unilocal.
Heard they had great cheesesteaks, so I decided to try the #1: The Classic. Since I didn’t want the full combo (add fries + drink) I opted for just the drink. Ended up costing $ 8.02 for the sandwich and the drink, so not exactly cheap. Next time, I’d just opt for a cup of water, which is free and better for me than a soft drink anyway.
The cheesesteak sandwich was good. It started out slightly drier on the outside, but got very juicy once you get about ¼ to ¹⁄₃ the way in. The Rib Eye steak was cut super thin and was very flavorful. Cheese was slightly sparse, yet held the sandwich together. The bread choice was also great; firm outside, soft inside, with notes of sourdough and butter. Really well chosen ingredients for as basic a sandwich as it was.
Service was standard and quiet, not exactly friendly or perky. But then, this is more a halfway point between fast food and sit down, so I’m not expecting to be treated like a king… Though, could you imagine a fast food restaurant which made service its top priority? (Oh wait, sounds like In-​N-​Out Burger!)
Overall, looking forward to coming back with a friend and exploring the menu further.
