The Paper Store Of West Roxbury

Now THIS is an amazing Paper Store.
Recently, I visited the brand new Paper Store in Mansfield, which was pretty good, but this location is twice the size, less clustered and more open (with a high ceiling and windows around 2 sides of the store completely). They carry tons of amazing prouducts, not too high priced (but not at Walmarts prices). Definitely a great place to get gifts in the West Roxbury area. Additionally, the staff were incredibly friendly and came over to offered me some help (which I didn’t need, but it was still good customer service). Definitely one of my favorite Paper Stores, and places to find gifts. Located on Centre Street in West Roxbury, in the Roche Bros plaza. Highly suggested. 5 stars.
Oh yeah, by the way, their is one sort of small issue here. Parking CAN be tough, as the lot is rather small and the grocery store gets a ton of people coming in and out. Be careful and watch for people (I saw a possible accident almost happen).

I love this store but the girl who ‘helped’ me was so rude. The woman that was directly helping me was quite nice, but the other lady that she had to speak with to get info about my possible return was rude, and when I needed a different box for my purchase I was given a somewhat cold shoulder of sorts by the previously mentioned woman. I work down the street but I think I’ll travel to the Legacy place location if I need items from here again.

The paper store is my go to for last minute gifts, cards, etc. They have something for everyone-​wide variety of products. I am lucky to have this store in my town.

I had a terrible experience here. This was the second time I was treated poorly by an employee at this store. I was told yes told by an employee to come help her clean up the mess she accused my toddler made near the toys, as I was leaving the store. In this accusation she told me «it’s ok that you read to your child but you have to clean up the mess you make.» She was very pregnant so I said I would of course help her clean up the 5 Barbie boxes on the floor but it was not us who took them down. Truth be told, I didn’t even notice them or I probably would have picked them up. I was carrying my infant and had my toddler but felt bad for her and was happy to help pick toys up, even after being accused and scolded. The thing that made me write this was as we were walking out she said «shame on whoever did that!» …it was probably a little girl who wanted to see the dolls. The way she spoke to me was rude and extremely unprofessional.
I did have to breastfeed by son and was reading to my daughter for a bit in the toy section, but like I said we did not make the «mess.» I will not be returning to this store.

I go here often because it is very close to my house, and is a great place to get annual Hallmark ornaments as well as Vera Bradley, Alix and Ani and other fun items!
I was visiting the store recently to make an annual hallmark purchase and had a question regarding a promotion. After looking around and not finding any employees on the floor, I waited in line at the cash register to ask a question. When it was my turn for assistance, a male worker (Jason) offered to help and together we walked over to the Hallmark wall. After I explained my dilemma, Jason said he would go get some more information and be right back.
Less than 30 seconds later I heard Jason’s voice back at the cash register, as he prompted another customer to approach him. «Can I help you?» I was sort of surprised, I had just been told to wait for information, and now I see the employee working with someone else. Could he not find it? Is someone else looking? Should I keep waiting? I watched for several minutes as Jason took his new customer over to the jewelry section and assisted her in trying on merchandise. After a while I became very frustrated and left the store.
A few days later I attempted to call back to get some clarity on the situation. Coincidentally, Jason answered the phone. As I started to explain my complaint, Jason cut me off and stated «I came back and you were gone, I don’t know what happened.» and then put me on hold. I was a bit annoyed but thought that maybe he felt it was inappropriate I resolve my complaint with him and had gone to get someone else. After 4 minutes on hold, Jason returned and immediately re-​stated. «Yea, I looked and came right back, you were gone.» I began to explain how I felt and said that I didn’t feel he was being truthful as I watched him immediately go help another customer. I would have been understanding if he had told me that he was waiting for someone to let him know the answer, or if he asked if I minded if he assisted someone else while I waited… but this did not happen– I was just ignored. Before I could get a full sentence out, Jason was cutting me off again, explaining that as a manager he is very busy. I tried to explain that I would understand that if someone else had approached him, but in fact I saw him go up to a new customer and offer his assistance, so again it did not feel that he was being truthful but again, Jason cut me off.
I love the paper store, but will never return to this location.

This store has a wide assortment of cards — including many creative ones with dye-​cuts and 3D design elements — books, chocolates, very nice gift items, designer accents, and more. I think the inventory is great. So why 3 stars instead of 4 or 5? Because — AND I HOPE MANAGEMENT IS READING THIS — the staff is unfriendly, unhelpful, spend most of their time talking with fellow employees, and treat customers like a nuisance. That has been my experience over the many visits I’ve made there.
On Sunday morning I watched as a dapper gentleman approached the register with his intended purchases. He greeted the cashier with a friendly «Good morning. How are you?» She responded with «Anything else?» He thanked her at the conclusion of his transaction and said «Have a nice day.» The employee said nothing. I rued my turn but felt a little relief that instead of getting the rude late 50-​something woman clerk, a woman in her late 20s/​early 30s was going to take care of me. She was just a younger version of her co-​worker. She didn’t greet me and literally turned her back to me to talk to her co-​worker and handed me the receipt without so much as looking at me, no less saying «thanks.» So I said, «Thanks for coming in today, sir. Have a good day.» They were amused by this. I wasn’t.
So, are you thinking, ‘Why does this guy continue to patronize this business?” Understandable. The answer is convenience and aforementioned selection, but I’m reaching the point where I can’t dismiss the ignorant behavior of the employees. I hope management steps in and corrects the situation, i.e., either reprograms or replaces the unhappy people who work there now.

good place for hostess gifts and kids gifts

I do like the selection of products, tho the prices aren’t great. However, like other posters, I’ve had just too many bad experiences with staff.

I stop in here once and a while when I need a hallmark card or something. It is a Hallmark store on steriods. It is huge with all sorts of nicknacks and even a book section. The card section is monsterous and there is candy, ornaments, toys, candles, handbags. Some of the stuff is just not belonging in this store. You can also get invitations done here which I did. The staff is just okay, they are sometimes clueless and it seems there is a different person on staff everytime I visit here. I guess the owner can’t keep her help. The staff is usually a younger person who pawns me off on the next person because they don’t know the answer. Also one thing to note here, the prices are a little extreme. They need to work on this because after all, you are mainly a greeting card store.
