Laser Quest West Roxbury

My family has a great time here — me, my husband, and our 10 year old son. A couple of months ago, my son and I got memberships so that we can play more often at a lower cost. Not surprisingly, as kids our known to do, he put his fob/​activation key in a safe place and we haven’t seen it since. I just called as we’d planned to go this weekend and I was wondering what it would cost to get a replacement key. The woman on the phone I spoke with said it would be $ 9.50. So, a membership is $ 10 but if you lose the key and have to replace it, you pay $ 9.50??? As a place that kids frequent, this isn’t a super family friendly policy, though a good moneymaking one. I’m disappointed that my son lost his key and that we’ll now go less as I’m not paying for another one at nearly the full rate.

We had our son’s birthday party here today. While the laser game was fun, the organization of the birthday party just SUCKS big time. Here are the list of blunders these guys did:
1. The attitude of the people helping was very bad — they promised us tableware and nothing was ready. We were a group of 50 and when asked for tableware, they handed us 10 plates — we had to barge into their pantry and get the stuff we needed ourselves!
2. They told us that we would have the room for 2 hours, when we went there, we were told that we would get a room AFTER 20 mins — wonder what they wanted us to with all our stuff.
3. There was just no one person who was helping us out — between the kids coming from the game to the party room — there were just no co-​ordination and no guidance on what to do next and where to go.
4. In between the party, they interrupted us and asked us to pay the balance amount — what kind of «company policy» is that? Take the whole amount in advance, who cares… just dont interrupt me when I am catering to guests — to pay the balance amount!!!
5. We lost two gifts — JUST because the place doesn’t even provide a box to put gifts. There was no place to receive guests and when asked that we need such a place we were given a locker –that was ALSO assigned to another group!
They need to really BUCK UP and improve their service big time. The laser tag is definitely a LOT of fun, no question — but we look for good service as well — this place needs to understand the value of service.

There are pro/​cons of every place … especially when geared towards birthday parties. If you have older kids (older than 8 years old, at least) and like chaos, then you may like laser quest. We had a party there for 6 year old and it felt out of control. Though, it felt out of control for the parents, but the kids had fun. The staff was friendly, but seemed short staffed. Here’s a list of issues with having a party there for young kids:
1. you cannot get into your party room until 10 min before pizza/​cake time, so there is no time to set up. don’t bother with wall decorations etc
2. the kids have to line up and give a code name. several kids didn’t understand that, couldn’t remember their code names etc…
3. they mix groups in the laser tag area, so 6 year olds are getting tagged by older kids
4. they use overhead announcing to indicate when your group will play, and it sounds like the «wa-​wa» from a Charlie Brown cartoon
4. No 6 year can understand or remember any of the instructions or rules, much less then help word «Marshall»
5. Parents cannot go into the laser tag area (or at least stand on an outside ring somewhere)
6. The laser tag vests are much too large for little kids
7. They announce the winners and spray you with toilet paper (nice schtick) and an adult with the code name «terminator» was whooping it up that he had the most points. Nice job ass, you beat a bunch of little kids in laser tag
8. After the first game, the kids have to line up again and give a new code name. Leading to more chaos as the groups are mixed, the kids are running all over the place and it’s loud
9. Did I mention you cannot get into your room until 10 min before pizza arrives. Really annoying, though I get that they are stacking the parties and there is overlap.
10. At least 6 kids in our group were too scared to go into the laser tag area. I will give the staff kudos for refunding our money for those kids.
11. I suppose if you can have your party on a weekday, the process would go smoother
Bottom-​line: chaotic. ok, for older kids who can run around and you don’t have to track or worry about them.

I am giving Laser Tag a 4 because I had so much fun. Also I went here with my friends, and we were a team one of my team mates always got lost! I had a blast it was so much fun at the end there where, like little toy things where u would put 25 cents or 50 cents. But when I did it, it took my coins and I told the worker took about 10 to 12 minutes and I had to pick another thing, but she gave me 50 cents back which was very nice instead of giving me 0 cents. That is why I am giving Laser Tag 4 stars.

My grandsons asked me to take them to laser quest, I had never been. Apparently they went there for several birthday parties and had a great time. The gentlemen working were so helpful, they gave me a tour so I could see what the boys were doing in the game room. One of the other employees played a game with the group and he was so sweet and patient! This was a wonderful experience and I will definitely be bringing my grandchildren back.

My child was injured in your facility to the extent that his injury required stitches. I am extremely disappointed with there lack of concern. What really bothers me more is they don’t even care how he got hurt to prevent future injuries to other children. The lack of response or concern from management was shocking. My son had to have stitches on his face and Brady didn’t even have the decency to call me back. In my opinion this place is a money grabbing dangerous, unsupervised environment putting dollars before safety.

I work for a children’s program. We booked three events with Laser Tag West Roxbury and they could not have gone more smoothly. The manager and staff were very accommodating, prepared to handle large numbers of students, and communicative before and after our visits. Our students and teachers loved their time at Laser Quest.

Fun times. Laser tag never gets old! I’ve found the process to be quite efficient here, but some potential improvements:
Provide lockers for customers (who didn’t drive there) to put their coats/​valuables — I don’t feel comfortable hanging my coat by the door. It’s a disaster waiting to happen.
Invest in an app or a couple more TV screens to put up the scores instead of printing out a score sheet for everyone for every game. I find the latter to be a waste of paper and resources.
Allow team games rather than just every (wo)man for him/​herself.

I have had three of my children’s birthday parties here. The first two were fine– and the most important part– the kids were happy.
Well the third time was a disaster. The first game was great, and everyone was having fun. When we got to the desk for our second game– they had sold five of our seats. Basically, like an airplane they oversold the game and five of my son’s friends got bumped!!!
The manager on duty was rude and unapologetic. According to her somehow it was our fault for waiting patiently at the end of the line! $ 453.50 for a birthday party and my son and his friends could not all play together!!! My calls to the general manager were not returned.
All in alI it was a disaster and I would not put yourself through that kind of embarrassment if I were you.

I came here with my girlfriend for a spontaneous date and epic laser tag battle! It was hilarious and a lot of fun. The location is located by the side of the freeway and there is a very large parking lot as well as a decent amount of shops nearby. I was a little surprised by the location, the building it is housed in reminds me of a larger factory building rather than a business complex.
Inside this Laser Quest, they have the typical amenities, some arcade games (probably around 4 – 5 so not too many), small group room and air hockey table. It is also really spacious and open which made the place feel bigger than it was. The two people at the desk helped us get into the game very quickly given the next one didn’t have any people in it.
What I do like about Laser Quest is that everything is quite standardized and since I’ve been to a couple in California, I knew it worked from the beginning. The inside of the maze is clean and has of course two story structures with really cool cutouts and chalk aesthetics throughout. I’ve always found lazer quest a fascinating game and wish there were more opportunities to play it.
I will say that the demographic is predominantly kids and teenagers so if you’re going as an adult, be prepared. It would be super fun to go with a group of your own though and I think that may be what we’ll try next time!

While I was initially impressed with the interior looks and atmosphere of this place, I was totally repulsed at the lack of proper supervision and leadership by the staff. My daughter attended a 10-​year-​old girl’s birthday party, which the staff combined with a 12-​year-​old boy’s party for the two 10-​minutes laser tag games. While inside, the girls were repeatedly sworn at and hit with guns by the boys. After the first game, with many girls in tears, the mom joined them for the second game. She was shocked at how out-​of-​control the boys group was, for Laser Quest only had one person inside the dark and smoky room to supervise 32 children! Laser Quest does not require waivers to be signed nor do they require an adult to chaperone (i.e. monitor) their group in the game room. The manager, who appeared quite young, as a consolation, offered to do a magic trick when the group moved to the party room, but then never showed up! (Was that the trick?) Finally, Laser Quest’s gimmick to «toilet paper» the birthday kid also was missed, requiring the mom to urge the staff to do it so their child would stop crying. Giving the kids coupons to return at the end of the party was quite a hoot — the kids ripped them up and had a good laugh over it!

Such an amazing place! Had my sons (first out of the house) birthday party here and it was amazing. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They had it set up that we played our two games first and had a private party room afterwards. By the time we were out of our two games the party room was all ready for us with our pizza already in our room. They even had place settings available that we purchased for the party. Of course I left the goodie bags at home and was extremely worried but they had goodie bags available as well for purchase and the kids were completely content with them (they had better stuff in theirs than I did in mine!) It was an absolute blast and we will definitely be coming back!

The other day I came in to laser quest with some friends to play a few games and have some fun. They had a great deal of three games for 21 $ so that’s what we decided to do. The game was really fun and everyone was friendly besides one girl with red hair. Not positive what her name was but she just seemed rude and not focused on satisfying us as customers. Overall it was a great time but just one rude person

This place is UNREAL and AWESOME! Great, professional, fun staff that worked wonderfully with our kids’ party. The place is very, very clean! It is a fun atmosphere and the party went smoothly with all of the help and support we received from the staff. The timing of the games are just enough and the kids had a great time!!! The manager, Brady, was especially helpful, professional, calm and kind! He really showed a lot of interest and support to our group and was just a doll! HIGHLY recommend!!!

I booked a field trip here for my afterschool program a while back and the kids had an absolute blast! They also sent a follow-​up Thank You letter including pictures of our group on the day of their visit. We will be visiting again over the summer for the Light & Optics Quest for Knowledge program and I can’t wait! Learning through laser tag? Brilliant idea!

Fun times here. My friends and I decided on a whim to find a laser tag place, and this is pretty much the only one remotely near Boston haha.
The place is a standard set up of a laser tag place. The arcade is a bit bare, but it does the job (particularly because of the air hockey table). The prices are pretty fair ($ 9.50/person for non-​members) and the games are 15 minutes long (although, it felt much longer to me even though I was running around like a fool haha).
The actual arena is pretty sick setup. Plenty of space to run around, hide and get lost haha. I was pleasantly surprised that it was two stories. I’ve only gone to a couple of laser tag places, but this is the first place that has two stories. Also, this place is well-​ventilated. Some of the other places just smell like sweat and mold haha. The crowd was a good mix of adults and kids, so it made for a more interesting game (we did go later in the night, though, so there wasn’t as many kids). I’m definitely down to come back to this place if my friends decide to go laser tagging again!

I think that this place is so much fun to take kids you babysit or just go on your own. The location is somewhat of a pain to get to since it’s on VFW parkway, but that thing is just no fun to drive on (at least that’s my opinion.)

The staff is really nice and helpful when I was booking my large reservation. They also went over my group party options to help me pick the lowest priced option for what I wanted to do.
We were a group of adults and I was nervous about doing something with a bunch of kids. It was our group of 8 adults playing against a birthday party of about 10 kids and I think that made it all the more fun. The course is awesome with lots of places to hide, balconies to shoot targets running on the ground floor, black lights, fog, the works.
It’s definitely suited for little ones, but if you’re looking for a fun option for a corporate group or team building activity for adults I would highly recommend Laser Quest.

My 9-​year-​old son was here for a b’day party last night and we stayed to play a game together. Had a really good time. The battlefield is fairly spacious, and there are two levels. I was disappointed that the group wasn’t split into two teams. The free-​for-​all format is chaotic. And they should have more than one supervisor on the field. But we had fun, and that’s the point. I liked Laser Craze in North Andover better — bigger arena, flashier, more special effects, team play — but that’s an hour away.
And note to self: DO NOT wear a white button-​down while playing laser tag. The black light makes you look like a huge purple target. (Though I did place 11 among a field of 29). ;)
