I’ve been twice now to see Dennis. He is fantastic and a real artist! I think he took at least 10 years off me with the adorable«pixie«cut that he gave me. It’s so flattering and feminine. He’s also fantastic with color. The shop is cool and hip. It’s easy to find with convient parking close at hand. The recent addition of Jamie as Shop Manager was a good decision. She makes you feel very welcome. It’s well worth the drive as I come up from Pompano Beach!

The staff was a bit standoffish… and the woman actually left in the middle of the cut to go to a staff meeting for her boss’ birthday which I thought could absolutely wait until my hair was cut. Other than that it was fine. Good cut and nice place.

The staff is RUDE. They ‘think’ they are the hottest place in town… OMG egos galore in this very cold atmosphere of a Salon. The prices they charge are not in line with the quality of a hair cut/color you get… if you want to take your kids there for a quick cut, yes by all means this is the place… BUT if you want a serious hair cut with style STAYAWAY, you will walk out disappointed. The majority of the Unilocal posting’s that give 5 stars are phony, read the real postings that tell the truth.

I just had my first haircut w/Parker and wanted to make sure my review was posted while I still remembered every aspect of the experience. The space is very urban chic and has an air of a NE salon. There is a sense of elegance without the need of opulence — very modern in nature and subdue affinity. I arrived approximately 20 minutes early and waited until my 12:30 pm appointment as Parker was with another client. He couldn’t have been more polite and professional if he tried! As someone that has gotten her haircut by some very talented individuals before, I could easily tell Parker is not only a natural, but a passionate student of the art. His focus is hair cutting and it is clearly obvious when you meet him. I have long, wavy, virgin hair and was looking to get it a bit healthier. After talking to Parker he helped me realize I could have Victoria Secret model hair without having to get it blown out much. After my wash and conditioning treatment(an additional $ 35) he dried my hair with a paddle brush and did a dry cut. It was epically unbelievable to see how my hair was changing in front of my eyes. He finished the haircut with a bit more blow drying(but minimal). My hair looked straight out of a runway show with a limited about of blow drying and a whole new dimension of volume. The ONLY reason I am not giving Parker 5 stars is because I want to see how my second appointment with him goes. Otherwise, he doesn’t deserve 5 stars, but 10. The cost of his haircut is a bit pricey for this area($ 125), but very common for the NE markets and it is worth the cost as he is a devoted master of his craft. I will not only recommend him, but will certainly return to his chair. Thanks, Parker! I love it!

Brittany is a true artist. The most creative and talented hair stylist that I’ve ever had. I’m 52 years old and have seen many who never quite cut it. No pun intended. Highly recommend David K Space.

WORSTANDMOSTEXPENSIVECUT I’VEEVERHADTHEBADLUCKTORECEIVE Oh how I wanted to love this place. My hair had finally grown to a length where a messy chin-length bob was possible. I had the short-in-back-longer-in-front bob to start with, but the sides had gotten really long. I called for an appointment, and almost immediately got a call back asking about what kind of hair I had, what I wanted, etc. OK, I’m thinking, this is pretty cool. They are really interested in giving me a great cut. So the day of my appointment arrives. I’m all a-flutter with anticipation(the high price is WAY out of my usual price range) and imagine my delight when the(assistant manager? Assistant owner/stylist?) comes over to chat with me me about what I wanted. With his tousled hair and his hipster baggy scarf, I felt certain I was in for the cut of a lifetime. So after our chat, he decided to match me up with a particular stylist(I have repressed the memory, so I can’t remember her name, long dark curly hair). I explain to her what I want, show her the photos of the exact cut I want and emphasize how I want a messy bob. So we get started. It took her A VERYVERYLONG time to do the cut itself. She was meticulous in her method and even though I was thinking, «Wow, this doesn’t look like a messy bob cut» I bowed to the hipster vibe and kept my mouth shut. At one point she started talking about flatironing it. I told her I don’t flatiron and I want it messy. Her response? «Well we flatiron here.» Um, ok. She FINALLY finishes and guess what… I have the EXACTSAMEHAIRCUT I CAMEINWITH. Exactly. EXCEPT… it was uneven on one side, did nothing whatsoever to flatter me and basically was no where near what I had told EVERYONE I wanted(and showed them via photos), a messy bob. I got reamed again at the cash register. To say I was disappointed is putting it mildly. The cut sucked, she could have cared less what I wanted, and I didn’t see one haircut being done while I was there that was better than the worst SuperCuts trim. What a waste of time and especially money. It just shows that hype doesn’t mean quality, no matter how many tats and piercings your staff has. I was so pissed off, I almost blogged about it(I have photos of before and after) but just didn’t want to waste my blog space and time with them. Don’t waste your time on this sad place. It’s way overpriced for the area and market. So disappointing on so many levels.

I loved it here! I had a keratin treatment and haircut done by Brittany and assisted by Howard. Both were lovely and professional. It was my first visit, so Parker(the artistic director?) came out to talk to me first to help me decide who would be best suited to cut my hair. I don’t quite know how he landed on Brittany but I am really glad he did because she really knows what she’s doing! This is definitely the best treatment I’ve gotten at a salon as well as a great haircut. I’m very happy and will most certainly be back.

Yesterday I went and got a haircut with David(the salons owner) and I was left very impressed. The haircut was great. He listened to what I wanted, used top quality products and ultimately did a really nice job with the cut. That alone would have warranted the five stars but after seeing how he was personally invested in his business and how well I was treated by Erin(his apprentice) and Parker(his creative director) I’ve found my new hair salon in West Palm Beach.

I visit the davidk space every 4 weeks for a haircut, and stop by in the middle of each month for a clean up trim. Had my hair cut by both Parker & Dania there — and both give AMAZING guys haircuts! If you’re in the area and need a trim, there is simply no better place to go :)

It was one of the worst experience ever. The atmosphere is very cold. The girls working there are terrified by the Owner David K, whom has no customer relationship skills ever. He is the most miserable person on earth and he will make you feel that you are in his way if you decide to stay around him. Worst feeling ever !!! Let me mention that their drying towels smell like MOLD! it is disgusting. Both girls taking care of my hair, had no desire to do the job they were doing. The quality was average to poor. And to finish the blow dry received was the worst ever. My hair came to curly after an hour . I was so unhappy about the work done, and explained why and nobody really cared. I have left paying so much money for an unprofessional job. I WILLNEVER go Back even if someone pay me . That was a terrible experience. I have nothing positive to say about this place. ITSHOULDNOTBEOPEN. David K has the biggest Attitude ever.

Kim is a stellar nail artist — she is super detail oriented, friendly, collaborative and creative. Her skills are insane and your manicure will LAST — she’s a perfectionist and it totally shows as she does the highest quality manicures I’ve ever had, hands down. RUN, don’t walk, to Kim for seriously perfect nail art.

So you know when you think you’ve found a salon that understands your hair and then something happens. The stylist turns your request for blond highlights into a Sun-In orange or your stylists start gossip about departing clients the second they leave the salon(um — what do they say about me?) So, my search for a new salon began again. I turned to my trusted fellow Unilocal’ers for someone who will make me into the true blond I know I can be and turn my limp, thin locks into something amazing. One word — Melrose. She is great. Really. She instantly puts you at ease and really just wants to make you happy. She took a ton of time with me before starting — talking to me, looking at pictures of cuts and colors, trying to get an idea of what I wanted. She found a way to give me the color and cut I’ve always dreamed of but was never able to articulate. I’ve gotten a ton of compliments and, seven weeks later, the cut and color still look great(albeit a bit grown out.) Yes, the salon may be a bit more expensive than the cheap salons and yes, it may take a bit of time to get the color and cut as they should be, but what do you expect? You get what you pay for and perfection takes time.

I discovered this salon a few years ago, but I was hesitant going in because the place looked so stylist. I mustered up the courage to give the salon a try and I am glad I did. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. I most grateful to Melrose one of the über chic and über talented stylists at David K. Melrose and I had a 20 minute consultation before she cut my hair. I then had a fab hair wash and scalp massage. I opted for a short pixie cut so I was very nervous cutting off my long hair, but Melrose made me feel comfortable throughout the processes. Melrose took her time to make sure my hair was perfect. The results were amazing. I go back to David K because of the service and the unmatched talents of Melrose. She has a wonderful energy and loves her work. It is one of the best salons in the area.

theDavidKspace… just the name alone sounds sleek alluring. The newly sprung downtown of Northwood neighborhood is a specially area and this place just fits right in.(Parking is found in a small lot just west of the space). My entire experience was delightful. The space is clean and modern but still feels comfortable. The girls at the front were very nice. I had not seen Parker in a few years but I’ve always trusted my slow growing locks in hands. Years ago he would cut the most amazing chin length wedges that would make me look edgy but classy and cute all the same. This time I had come back with a much harder task. to give life to now thin stringy hair that I’m trying to grow out.(my hair has been falling out, but I still am hoping it will grow back). I went in knowing Parker is fantastic at short cuts, so I assumed he’d suggest we just lob it all off… but he didn’t. He asked me what I WANT, and what I wanted was to grow my hair out despite my current hair loss. He said cutting it would make it look fuller however, he really pushed that we just give it some shape and trim off as little as possible since I haven’t really had long hair for a very long time. He also suggested we do a leave in treatment(i think is was a keratin treatment but only a spray that was not expensive at all). I said let’s do it and off to the shampooing! I can’t remember her name but the woman who shampooed and flat ironed my hair was SOCUTE and super friendly. When Parker came to cut my hair he reviewed with me what he was going to do before proceeding. When it was all said and done my hair did in fact look LONGER than it had when I arrived. The treatment he suggested made my hair smooth, not just for the day but for WEEKS to follow. Before my cut I was unable to wear my hair down… post cut I have been wearing it down much more! My hair looks great! It’s still thin but it looks great! THANKSPARKER! YOUARESTILLTHEBEST!!!

In a word: Overhyped. In a few more words: stay away! Ignore the media buzz, ignore the hipster vibe, and ignore the reviews that are clearly written by friends of the stylists. I am a ‘money no object’ kind of girl when it comes to my hair, but the sky high prices here do NOT guarantee a serious, quality cut. I went in with 3 pictures of hair ranging from chin to below the shoulder and said I wanted something in between — a piece-y, layered glam sort of look. I actually uttered the words ‘David Bowie goblin king, something I can make a little tall on top and messy on the bottom.’ I also specifically said, halfway through the cut when I was getting nervous ‘I really dont want that mushroom look’ — hahaha! Joke was on me. I’m not even going to review the color, with Christina, which was fine after she re-did it(I asked for red and got brown-copper — whatever, an easy fix, and they didn’t make me feel bad about redoing it). But the cut — oh my sweet jesus! I literally left in tears when the cooler-than-thou Parker completely ignored my pictures and did… I don’t know what. A short bowl cut in the back — it hits at the hairline in the back!(no layers at all, so it mushrooms on my head EXACTLY like I was afraid of) and one long piece, cut on an angle, near my eyes. When I got home, I realized the bangs are two different lengths. I look like a cross between Kate Gosselin and a Romulan. I wish I were joking! To top it off, there’s just a straight up hunk missing out of the back — I suspect that was when a piece was flipping up and he just cut it off after the blowdrying. But there’s seriously a one inch wide piece that is about an inch shorter than everything else, no blending, nothing. What a joke — to have the owner’s good press in frames all over the shop, and to have a bunch of cool looking amateurs charging top price for beauty-school quality haircuts. Do yourself a favor and take careful note of how so many of the reviews sell ‘New York’ style, etc. Then notice how that meshes oh-so-nicely with their website. I should have realized the Unilocal reviews were fake.
