I bought the Groupon(90 min traditional thai massage with paraffin hand treatment and aromatherapy) with the LOWEST of expectations as my mantra is «You get what you pay for» What it is: True Thai massage at an INCREDIBLE bang for your buck. The best repeat BEST massage(at any price point) I have ever received, bar none. Period. What it isn’t This is not a fancy or refined destination so do not come here for a «spa experience». Do not come here in search of a «tranquil oasis of peace». Come here because you love your muscles. What to expect: * No frills. Wat Po is in a two story strip mall. You’re paying for the massage. Actually, I think I was offered tea when I arrived. * During your massage you can hear Wat Po’s phone ring, other clients speaking(«please go lighter/use more pressure», etc)…also, when I walked in I heard skateboarding sounds on the roof, and I’m pretty sure that a half pipe or something of that ilk is directly above? That being said, none of those things influence your massage, are loud or frequent — everyone whispers, talking is at a minimum, no personal cell phones rang during my 90 minutes and honestly? I was in such a trance from what was being done to my body that I could hardly focus/care about any of that including the roof, which was ambient/muffled enough that I didn’t even notice when it stopped. * Ladies, you’re going topless & will be putting on large, grey shorts over your underwear. One size fits literally all men and women.
* Tight quarters with curtains separating massage tables, not walls. * You’re walking back to the massage rooms barefoot. Shoes left up front. Also, no lockers for phones or valuables * Professional Therapists who know what they’re doing * Low pressure sales/tip environment(I may have been the first person to ever tip this woman. Honestly.) * Hot towels all over your body towards the end(amazing) I docked a star for the following, then added it back because of how GOOD my massage(what you pay for) was: * Hot paraffin. Too hot. Ouch. There will be a next time, so I just won’t have that done. * «Spotlessness» This place is clean enough and by my standards, that’s clean. I comment further on this with great trepidation because the sterility of an establishment is a line you do not cross without good reason and indelible proof. I don’t question that their cleanliness practices are standard, but while there were no glaring hygiene offenses(you are face down most of the time), Wat Po is not set up/organized in such a way that makes«neat and tidy» a noticeable priority(think doctor’s office or expensive home). Cluttered front desk, low light back where you’re massaged, there are a lot of fabric curtains… Clean where I got my massage? Yup. Is that what I paid for? Yup. * Curb Appeal. If you judge this book by its cover you are really cheating yourself. Also, I found the blatantly obvious signs indicating«WEDOREALMASSAGENOTHINGELSE» to be hilarious and endearing! Go, people!!! GOGOGO !!!

I originally found this place through a groupon. I am seriously additive! Every person in here is great. Of course i have my favorites. This place is seriously a hidden gem of Los angeles. Whenever I need a good stretch or a knee in the back kind of massage, they know exactly what to do. I am usually here at least once a month if not once a week. I love love love this place!

Made an appointment yesterday and arrived a little early today. Was told they didn’t have my name on the schedule and that they were fully booked. can’t comment on the massage, but it WAS a waste of my time booking it, reading reviews on it and driving over here.

Amazing. Second time going today, and wow, they are so caring and patient there. I immediately feel at peace when I enter their massage room. Small and humble store front/entry way, but don’t be fooled… the massages and foot scrubs are to die for! Thank you Wat Po Thai, I will be a loyal customer!

The absolute worst massage I’ve ever had! Save yourself time and money. Go some where else. It’s dirty. You leave feeling dirty and upset that you just spent 60 dollars plus a tip. All around terrible. My husband had one too and his was equally as bad.

EXTREMELYPAINFULEXPERIENCE, BOTHPHYSICALLYANDEMOTIONALLY. Last week, my girlfriend and I decided to get an hour-long couples massage using a Groupon we had purchased online. We had never had a professional massage before and were looking forward to the experience. Little did I know this relaxing day at «the spa» would soon become A NIGHTMARE. When we arrived at the spa we were immediately hit in the face by a putrid smell that can only be described as dirty old gym socks. The musty air filled our nostrils and clogged our lungs, causing us to gasp for oxygen. The humidity level must have been at least 95% because it felt like we were wading through the swamplands of Louisiana. A few minutes passed and a lumpy, quite sweaty fellow appeared like a ghost from behind a curtain. We told him about the couples massage deal, but he insisted that we both take separate rooms. I took one last look at my girlfriend as if I would never see her again and proceeded to my room. As I sat uncomfortably on my massage table, a woman appeared and said«take your clothes off and put on these shorts.» The shorts were oversized and came with a drawstring which I tightened until my waist hurt. I then heard a man’s voice from behind the curtain. «Are you ready?» he said. Hesitantly, I said«I guess.» The same lumpy man who ushered us into our rooms told me to lay face down on the table and relax. I clenched my butt cheeks as if instinctively knowing what would happen next. He oiled up his callused hands and began rubbing me down like a prized cattle. He began tugging at my shorts and trying to fold the waistband down. Unable to loosen them, he slipped his hand underneath and untied the tightly fastened drawstring. At this point, I saw my life flash before my eyes. He pulled my pants down until my bare ass was completely visible. His breath quickened and his hands moved swiftly as he caressed my buttocks ever so gently. In my head I tried to go to a better place. I thought about Christmas, warm sandy beaches, and my girlfriends smiling face. Nothing could remove me from the uncomfortable place I was in. He got on top of the table and began to put all of his weight into my body, grinding his knees and elbows into my soft muscle tissue like some weird form of torture. I wanted to scream but I didn’t want my girlfriend to hear my cries. I was at his mercy. The agony lasted about 45 minutes until he finally pulled my pants up and told me to flip over. I slowly put my clothes back on, unable to comprehend what had just happened. I opened the curtain and saw my girlfriend and immediately hugged her. I shed a tear on her shoulder and whispered«never again» in her ear. When we got to the parking lot I asked her how her massage was. She said it was gentle and very relaxing. I asked her if she had to pull her pants down and she said«NO! Are you serious?!» I am still very traumatized by what took place that day. BOYFRIENDSBEWAREYOU’REINFOR A SCARE.

I’ve been here four or five times and really like it. Great price, DEEP thai massage, especially if you tell them to beat you up and stretch you out. Clean but no frills which is just what I want. And the«We only do massage, nothing else» sign that is comforting and also what I want. Whoever complained about the big oversized pants, I like these. I worked in Thailand for three months and they had these there. All access to everything while allowing you to maintain your privacy.

I went in this spa last week because i was in that area for business and i had, as usually, a strong neck and shoulders pain. Tom, my masseur, was very prepared ad skilled for a real thai massage. I’ve been in thailand many times and i know what a real thai massage must be, the strong manipulations and techniques are the best to solve my stress and neck pain. after 20 minutes i really felt better and Tom gave me many suggestions on how to prevent my muscle problems. I choosed a one hour massage, the room was simple but silent and the price reasonable. I will go back in LA next month and i will try this spa again, I really suggest Tom as massuer if you suffer of back or neck problems.

This place is dirty, you lie on mattresses on the floor, and the whole bldg is in need of repair. Elevator did not work. AVOID it. I walked in, and left immediately. Might be cheap, but not healthy.

Been few times and had several different masseuses, all have been wonderful. The parking is tough, located in a janky small shopping center however when you walk in its quiet and very clean. There are no individual rooms just curtained off spaces yet still private. Your given these crazy xxl drawstring shorts(everyone receives them) which were a bit odd but I laughed and just went it. All in all great place and great prices prices!

Let me just say hands down one of THE best massage spa’s I have been to. I brought my girlfriend here as one of her Valentine’s Day gifts and we were both rejuvenated and relaxed after getting our couples massage. First the staff is tremendously welcoming and polite. The whole setup of the room you enter for the massage beds is very elegant and soothing. I saw a Unilocal reviewer suggest Tom for a massage and I am glad I requested him. Tom knew how to trigger the pressure points and get the muscle to relax. You think that when you are super tense it takes a lot of strength, but Tom knew the proper remedies to loosen the muscle, apply the proper amount of pressure. My girlfriend said herself that the lady massaging knew just where to focus on and how deep to penetrate the muscle to relieve the stress. I highly recommend and it is great for couples.

Called the place to see If I can make an appointment today with groupon since I’m going to out of country tomorrow. The laid said, since it’s national holiday, I need to give her a groupon number first to redeem it. I told her, If you give me a spot for sure tonight, I will purchase it and bring it to you other wise I don’t want to buy groupon since I won’t be able to use it. She goes okay. I will save 8pm for you go buy groupon first and call me back. Should’ve not trusted what she said. Purchased groupon and called them back to give them the voucher number. They go, it’s fully booked. I complained that you guys made a promise so I bought a groupon and now your answer is no? She said, you can get a refund. I was like. Wow that’s great. Amazing customer service! All that work for booking a stupid massage went to a huge waste of time. Do not ever believe what they say Now I have to call groupon tomorrow, wait on the line for 20mins to get my money back in 10business days lol What’s joke!

Groupon deals usually are to places that have no business for a good reason. It offered a massage with foot treatment(which is just some salt scrub they put on, then wash off, but it’s great marketing because it seems like there’s more to this massage than other businesses offer). Thinking it would benefit the business to pay them the groupon price(since it charges 50%), I offered to do that on the phone and they agreed. Groupon also had a 20% off deal for today only, but they wouldn’t honor that, so I said I’d just buy it from the site then. That really wasn’t a smart business decision because now they’re only making half the profit of if they’d just honored the additional 20%. I had to tell the masseuse 3 times to focus on certain areas and she agreed, then continued to do the rest of the body. Then, when she finally did the upper back, she pressed so hard I almost screamed-it still hurts right now in fact. Pressure is good and without it, you’re not getting the effects of the massage, but I’m a size 0 covered in bones-come on. Neither of those issues are a big deal, but then the tipping part came. Apparently, «most people tip $ 20-$ 40» according to the girl in front and if you don’t tip enough, the masseuse will let you know very angrily. Why would someone tip $ 20 – 40 for a massage they paid $ 32 for on groupon? O_O You have to understand your clientele. Of course, it’s tenuous work and the owner probably gives them a crappy split-that’s understandable. However, if you choose to lower your prices to get foot traffic, you as the owner should make sure your workers are still fairly compensated rather than relying on coupon buyers to make up the difference. If you can’t do that, then you shouldn’t run the deal.

Went here yesterday for a couples massage. First it’s not a couples massage because you actually can’t talk to who you came with. That’s stupid. In fact, they told us to be quiet after about 5 minutes. Second. I have had Thai massages before and this was weirder than usual. They make you wear these huge pants. We kept bursting out laughing from the clothes. But no big deal… Then I asked for just a Swedish massage. and I got a Thai massage. Ummmm. what’s the point of that. Then she left for like five minutes. to get a hot towel to wipe off all the oil she had rubbed on me. Hmmmm… I thought it was 60 minutes? They also exfoliate your feet which is okay but wasn’t that great. and a little weird. In general I would not come back here. and they kind of sit outside staring at you when you’re done. we ended up tipping them quite a bit because they never offered us change. Oh parking blows here too. the place has like 10 spots for the entire mall. We had to pay to park on the street. I’d skip this place. why wonder they are on Groupon.

Came here with a groupon for a Thai massage plus paraffin hand wax and aromatherapy for two. For the price, I think it was a pretty good deal. I really like how Thai massages stretch you out and pull at all your joints to loosen them up on top of the standard Swedish massage. In that aspect I think they did well. The regular massage was just ok though, and the aromatherapy was really just some room spray. The paraffin wax was pretty cool too, but the stretches at the end of the massage was what really stood out. Overall I was pleased with my purchase and would recommend that you lookout for a groupon from this place if you plan to go here.

What started out as a gift for my girlfriend and I to enjoy turned into something much much more. We both have back issues and the GF has a condition a lot more serious than mine. With that being said, the attention to detail was amazing. We signed up for the 90 minute Thai massage with aroma therapy and hand treatment. One of the best decisions I have made in life. It included the hand treatment with hot wax, a hot towel massage, an amazing rub down, and a professional stretch of quads and hamstrings. I’m not your regular spa /massage goer, but will be after this !

I’ve had my share of massages and this is the worst I’ve ever had. My masseuse was in her 20s. It didn’t seem like she knew what she was doing. The entire 60 min session felt like a routine without consideration for my tight shoulders. What’s the point of asking when you don’t care? She had a firm grip but in all the wrong ways– literally lots of jabs using her elbow. In fact, I feel slightly injured. The aromatherapy part is also a JOKE. She rubbed scented oils on her hands and had me smell her hands twice. Huh?! Lastly, the music was horrible. There was a door bell/sms alert every 2 mins through the intercom. It was loud and distracting. I didn’t get to relax at all. Seriously, you’re not saving any money nor is this a deal. Save your time and go somewhere else to get a massage. I now feel much more agitated than when I first entered. SMH
