Well… looks like Carrie R. took the words right out of my mouth, her review is really spot on. Seabar exists off to the left side in the Mondrian lobby. If I didn’t already know better, I would think that fancy, long, illuminated marble table existed there for a private party or something. But it is in fact the sushi restaurant, Seabar. The only advantage to making reservations at Seabar as opposed to Asia De Cuba is you get all the ADC options plus the expanded menu here with tons of fabulous and inventive maki options… plus the sashimi is fresh and served in plentiful quantity. The sake sashimi was to-die-for!!! You get to watch the comings and goings of all the kids heading to play at Skybar but with Katana across the street and Katsuya not too far off in Studio City, I couldn’t really see making a special trip here unless you were a) going to party the night away at Skybar afterward or b) are staying at the Mondrian.

Doesn’t really seem like a restaurnt; but, it is a great option if you are in the Sunset area or have a friend staying at the Mondrian. Good sushi and other little bites. Spent a good 2 hrs there catching up with a friend I hadn’t seen in 2 years.

A little known restaurant inside the Mondrian… really the Mondrian’s wicked stepsibling! And by wicked I mean wicked good! It’s casual communal dining… one big ol’ marble, rectangular table… so you never know who’s gonna sit next to ya(which can be good!). It seats 32 people… has an awesome menu of specialty sushi and sakes… not to mention GREAT mojitos!!! I believe the one I liked was the mango… can’t go wrong with it. Even better… for those in your party who don’t care for raw fish… you can order off of Asia de Cuba’s menu for a mix and matchy thing if ya like!
