I love the staff at Norms. They go out of their way to help guests that wouldn’t be welcome any where else. I once took a homeless friend that lives near my street there for his birthday and they couldn’t have been nicer to him. You have some amazing people working there!!!

5⁄5 stars simply because the waitress there, LINDA, is amazing! I don’t even know where to start. My husband and I have been coming to this location for about a year, and we fell in love with Linda. She is so kind and sweet. No matter how packed the restaurant is, or how many tables she’s waiting on she always has a smile on her face. She never makes us feel rushed. She makes us feel valued and appreciated as a customer. She remembers our orders, down to the last detail.(We are pretty boring and order the same thing, turkey burger combos with mushrooms and a stack of pancakes) Linda is a real treasure. She says all the time that she really loves what she does. She always says that with a smile and it feels genuine, not like she’s just saying it. i noticed she has a LOT of regulars. My husband and I literally WAIT to be seated in her section, sometimes up to 45 min. Not because it’s packed but because she has quite a fan club and other patrons have requested to be seated in her section as well. LOVEHERSOMUCH. Such a sweetheart. SUCH A DOLL. LOTS of food, cheap prices and impeccable service. Can’t beat that.

Norms is very dear to my heart and wallet but today was probably my last time going to this one. The food is not great but it’s what it is suppose to be, norms food. The service there is what is really terrible. I had the horrible luck of having FEDERICO wait on me today. Not only did he bad attitude, but he looked like he had been up the whole night doing METH. This should’ve been my first sign to leave. Not only was he rude but he preceded to argue with me when he got my order wrong. I continued to try to defuse the Situation while continued to argue with me and roll his eyes. I explained very nice that even if I had been wrong, which I wasn’t, that the customer is always right. Business 101. Guess not for a norms employee. He kept trying to talk over me until I had to tell him that I wasn’t amused and to bring my check. I guess the moral of the story is that when you have a man doing a women’s job, problems are bound to happen. Norms should go back to their hiring policies. In addition they should drug test their employees. Crack is whack!

I love Norms. I like the atmosphere there. There is something different. It’s simple, cheap, vintage of course, and you can meet great and«weird» people. I’m French and I don’t have any relative in LA so I went there for Thanksgiving(not my first time). I got the special dinner. It was simple but delicious and so cheap. It’s always good. I don’t want this landmark to disappear. See you soon Norms.

If you’re looking for a hipster/trendy spot for brunch in LA, Norm’s isn’t it. Instead, it’s an old school, 1970’s-like diner with very good drunk breakfast food. i.e., their food tastes good when you’re drunk and soaks up alcohol. Otherwise, it’s a place to go for low cost, decent quality breakfast choices 24-hours a day. They serve lunch and dinner items, but breakfast is the main attraction, and has browns are their specialty. Order the«„Double Loaded“ Hash Browns and Eggs.» YUM! For only $ 8.99, it comes with two orders of crispy hash browns, topped with cheddar, bacon, green onions, and diced tomatoes, with two eggs, and a choice of toast, muffin, biscuits and gravy, or hotcakes. You can also add sour cream and salsa to your hash browns, which flavors them up a bit. The biscuit was just alright(a little dry, even with the gravy). The rest of the order was great! Recommend highly.

Old school restaurant since 1957. This is one of the classic diners that’s still in operation around West Hollywood, I am glad they didn’t knock it down. This was my first time eating here and I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The young waitress was very kind and helpful. I had eaten a few hours before so I went for the apple pie with ice cream, the pie was served hot. My group of four loved their food, everyone was happy, especially my teen daughter who is a very picky eater.

Absolutely fine dinner. Top notch service. Way too much food! And the prices were excellent. This place is an LA historical treasure. I know it’s not for everyone, but they have liver and onions on the menu. I wish I lived closer, I’d be here more often

Always decent, and a great choice when you don’t want to do IHOP for the bajillionth time. MENUSGALORE! For some reason they have about 4 different menus per person, so there is 100% chance you will find something your looking for. I mean they even have Filet Mignon. Servers are always super friendly and very helpful. Portions are LARGE and at a great price. It just smells. like greasy grease grease in this place, so expect to leave smelling like that, it stays in your clothes for awhile.

Who goes to Norm’s? (Answer: tipsy people wandering in from nearby music and art venues late at night) Who sits down and writes a review about Norm’s? (Answer: only a Unilocal Elite who obsessively wants to capture the culinary zeitgeist of urban LA and that surely includes kitsch neighborhood chain greasy spoon diners) What do you eat at Norm’s? (Answer: they are very proud, so proud, of their filet mignon as it is well featured in their menu literature. But I would recommend the chicken fingers. Oh the chicken fingers! The table next to us had four orders of them, so my companion just had to order the same and it was so spot on. Boiling hot center, crunchy outside. Fresh from the freezer to the fryer. Why do they even ask how you want your meat prepared? We were shocked when our waiter asked me about my burger so I asked for medium and it came up well done. Strange they even asked since it’s like asking for quinoa instead of fries at Denny’s.

This is what a diner experience is all about, cheap greasy(or not, they have healthy stuff too), huge portions. Ruthie is amazing, she serves the counter. The menu is like a library, I love their steak and eggs for breakfast. Or a grilled whitefish for lunch. They do seem tomhave a problem with turnaround of wait staff, always training someone, be patient. Avoid sunday lunch unless youre willing to wait, a good celebrity spotting place too. Not five stars because one manager is living on another planet, if its time for her break dont try and stop her. Lol.

I don’t go here often because I live out of town. But when I lived in LA, I would perhaps go once a month. I love the old school interior design, the old school customers that still show up. The waiters are very cool and friendly. Recently I dined there and worked on my laptop for an hour or two! And had loads of coffee :) I hope they keep it. and never replace it with some other chain-restaurant! I had a fish dish and roasted potato! It was just yummy.

What else is open at 330am?! We came upon this location after a fun night in weho. The staff were very friendly and accommodating even at this hour of the wee morning. Just like any other norms, I order the $ 8.99 steak and egg with hotcakes meal. Which also comes with hash browns! Such a deal. Our water glasses were never empty.

It’s taken me a few years of being in Socal to hit up Norm’s but I’ve officially gone there now twice. I waited until the second time to write a review because the first time I was feeling way too greasy and bloated post meal to give any sort of compliments to the«chef» and I really wanted to give at least a decent review of Norm’s since there was all that controversy about Norm’s being shut down and how it was a Los Angeles institution. So, I gave it another whirl recently when I couldn’t stand to wait in line for a table at Blu Jam café any longer. Norm’s is basically like a Denny’s or an IHOP but for some reason I don’t feel as generic and or cracked out coming to Norm’s. Now, I have only dipped my toe into the Norm’s pool as experienced their breakfast menu, which is served all day. I have not, and probably will not jump head first into the steak or salmon dinner, yet I have been known to make risky food choices before, so I will never say never. The first time I went I got some sort of sunny side egg, bacon, etc. combo platter and the eggs were greasy and slid around my plate in bacon grease so I opted for an omelet and held off on the breakfast meats. I got the Portobello mushroom omelet with spinach, red peppers, cheese, hash browns, and an English muffin, so basically it was food enough for three people, but of course I ate it all. Both times I came mid week before noon and even though it was busy, I didn’t have to wait for than 3 minutes for a table, 10 minutes for my food, pay over $ 10 per person for a meal, or drive around the neighborhood for street parking, so I’d say it was a win. The women’s bathroom could’ve used a scrub but God knows it must be hard to keep up with the toilets after the amount of greasy spoon food guests are indulging in at Norm’s.

Needed some breakfast pronto and Norms was there to save the day. Norms is a straight up So Cal establishment that has never disappointed me at any time. The food selection is robust and the prices are better than competitive. For example(prices): Denny’s Lumberjack Slam will run you over $ 10.00, The meats, eggs, hash browns, 2 hot cakes etc. Norms: the nearly identical meal is less than $ 8. ¡Es una ganga! Its a deal! My server was an absolute sweetheart. Never let my coffee run low no matter how busy she was and always with a smile. She even hooked up the Tapatio sauce! Finally there is the Architecture of this Norms. Its as badass now as it was in the 1950’s(with some updates). If you’re a fan of that time period, this is your place. Ill be in the area all this week so expect more than one check-in for those that follow my reviews. So if you’re close by and need a hearty breakfast, lunch or dinner… or you’re coming of a drinking bender/celebration and need that 3AM feast with your friends(like me New Years Day 2001) then this Norms is the spot. Cheers.

I just had to do it. I just had to stop at this classic retro Norm’s for a tuna melt. I heard/read that the developer is going to either tear down this historic coffee shop(no no no no no!) or work it into the new design of what will be a minimall or office building. Such a shame. This is such a classic place. And the food is good. The tuna melt was epic. Well toasted and buttered white bread with lots of cheese and lettuce/onion/pickle on the side. Served with delicious onion rings that just crispy melted in your mouth. I will be very sad if this place goes away. Hadn’t been here since I was around 16. It’s still exactly the same! Patrons and staff look happy. Food is good. Please don’t tear it down. 3⁄19 the City has voted to consider giving this Norm’s historical status. Yay! Tuna melts are here to stay.

I love Norm’s. It’s my staple go-to for cheap 24-hour diner since its a 5 minute walk from my house. They have daily specials and a menu that is hopelessly large. For $ 10 you can get steak with mashed potatoes, salad, soup, and dessert. How do you beat that? Don’t expect top quality but it’s usually good enough. Company here can be interesting but it all comes with the experience. At the end you go up to the register to pay!

I am my own WORST enemy… We had begun our 3-week stay in Los Angeles with full intentions of enjoying the company of our relatives, celebrating Thanksgiving, our wedding anniversary(although it had passed in October) and my brother-in-law’s birthday MONTH. That being said, I had been exercising nearly daily, lost 12 pounds, and had perfect blood work results for my annual physical BEFORE embarking on our trip. I was really feeling«slick» because of my accomplishments… but, hey, when you get older, you’ll understand the fact that your metabolism just slows down so anything you can do to get or keep yourself healthy you’ll take as a trophy. We had been brisk walking along Beverly Gardens Park 3.8 miles round-trip pathway when my brother-in-law mentioned having breakfast at Norm’s. Our pace seemed to hasten to return home(luckily, just up a couple of blocks from the park) as our stomaches started to growl at the mere mention. Oh, darn you, Norm Roybark, for opening your chain of Southern California diners! But, I would have to say the convenience, value, taste and service at this Norm’s has got to be the best in the city. This location is the ORIGINAL site. We drove into the crowded parking lot and summoned our«parking aumakua». Lo and behold, a space opened right in front of the restaurant’s entry. We always expect to see a crowded parking lot since Norm’s is a 24⁄7 diner even though we arrived when most people are just getting up or coming back home from partying the night away. My brother-in-law started the order with coffee, as we quickly perused the huge menu. The breakfasts are served with your choice of fresh-cut Seasonal fruits or golden crisp hash browns and choice of toast & jelly, English muffin, biscuit & gravy or two Hotcakes. I was teetering between ordering a burger and fries or French Toast when my brother-in-law blurted out his order to our waiter. The order was. Country Cookin’ with French Toast. What was this? I quickly read the menu to find out that Country Cookin’ referred to a golden brown crisp«Texas size» Country Fried Beef Steak served with creamy sausage gravy. Then, my husband said he’d have the same as I could feel their eyes turn to me. I fell weak from the«pressure» and relented by saying to our waiter…“make it 3 times”! Our gargantuan order arrived and I tried to not eat it all. My mind started to justify the calories and fat that I was intaking… I slowly noticed that my golden brown and delicious«chicken-fried steak» breakfast was disappearing off my plate and into my mouth. Both my husband and brother-in-law were almost done yet I still had about ½ portion of beef steak and French toast left. I opted to be «nice» and offered parts of my unfinished breakfast to them because I didn’t want to be the only one at our table still eating. They gladly took my offer. While the food was good and plentiful, I could feel my arteries stiffening, my waistband cinching as thoughts of suggesting a nap washed over me. This place was way better than an iHOP, The Original Pancake House or Denny’s.oh, how I wish that Hawaii would have a Norm’s, too.
