Horrible service, delicious fish. Vegetarian entrees were subpar. It’s probably a better lunch spot for two than dinner for 7.

Smallish portions but excellent food. Clean and traditional sushi presentation. Like Tokyo. Not a fancy roll place. Go because you want quiet elegant Japanese food and sake

This is the best sushi in weho! Food is incredible and fish is amazing quality, but you don’t have to deal with the scenes of nobu and koi. Highly recommend!

Potentially the best sushi I’ve ever had. None of the scene, all of the quality, and prices that are relatively manageable. If you want to see herds of decorated bachelorette parties doing sake bombs to rihanna with hopes of meeting the jersey shore cast later while you browse a menu of americanized insta-diarrhea inducing sriracha aoli sushi rolls stuffed with filler and imitation crab, this isn’t your place. In fact, maybe don’t ever submit a sushi review on Unilocal because you’re confusing people. If you want the legit high quality fish that you’d expect to feast on in a city like LA and aren’t up for a $ 300/person bill, this is your spot. The tuna toro and blue fin were incredible.

Food was amazing, fish was so fresh. Toro sashimi was so good. A little pricey though so expect to drop some $. Totally worth it though for a special occasion. Service was a tiny bit slow and they kept running out of food so one star off for that.

This review is for the lunch specials only. Haven’t been here during dinner time, but prices are on the expensive side. I came here on a Wednesday afternoon and the restaurant was quite empty, which meant no wait… but the service was just average. The restaurant can easily be missed as it blends in with the other stores near by. The outside has a European theme to it so you definitely wouldn’t think a sushi restaurant would be located here. This place is small with limited seating so I don’t recommend it for large groups. There’s metered parking or private lots(which costs $ as well) located near by. I ordered the premium sushi lunch combination which came with miso soup, salad, 8 pieces of nigiri(salmon, tuna, snapper, yellowtail, albacore, halibut, King mackerel, Spanish mackerel) and 1 roll(spicy tuna) for $ 22. In my books, this is a solid deal, especially for this restaurant. Everything was delicious. The fish was fresh and the salmon was my favorite! I left content and not overly stuffed, but I definitely could’ve eaten more. It’s only opened Tuesday — Friday for lunch so take advantage of this deal when you can! Overall, I think the sushi was pretty decent. However, because of the expensive prices during dinner time, I would only come back for their lunch specials.

not sure the 5 and a half star average rating is accurate as it was good but not amazing. The amazingness was as always chefs recommendation but the rest of the order(we ordered a lot) was that of a good sushi restaurant. .. which is good. :-) If i came back it would be because its über quaint and on a not so busy night.

Really reasonable, but amazing omakase. The chefs here do a great job at preserving the integrity and simplicity of the fish while still creating inventive dishes to which the fish is still a centerpiece, not masked by sauces and garnishing. The service was extremely friendly and prompt. For being a nicer sushi place where they take the craft seriously, there was no pretension here. Great selection of sakes as well. This place stands out in the neighborhood and I would take this over Nobu and Koi any day.

Jinpachi serves solid sushi in a lovely part of West Hollywood. It is a bit non-descrpt on the outside, so look carefully. I made a reservation for one(yay business travel) and the staff were happy to accommodate me. The restaurant is very clean, modern, and open. While there are not many seats, the restaurant never felt crowded or too busy. However, it trends to the«nice» side and there were many people here who seemed to be on nice dates, eating before a big night out, or were coming from fancy events. In my hiking jeans and sneakers, I was definitely a bit too casual. I ordered the: Sashimi Moriawase — Chef’s choice 12 pieces sashimi, soup, salad and bowl of rice. Sunomono salad — Japanese cucumber, mixed seaweed with sweet vinegar. I also asked about doing an omakase, which they do not list prices for on their menu. The waitress mentioned that the omakase tends to run from $ 150 to $ 200 per table, depending how hungry you are. The sashimi was excellent — melt in your mouth, super fresh fish and good portion sized. I liked the choices in my plate, which were very standard salmon, tuna, amberjack, snapper, and I think a fluke. It came with a ponzu sauce, but you could also do wasabi and soy sauce if thats your jam. The Moriwase came with a very solid and soothing miso soup, a mixed green salad, and fluffy white sushi rice. The sunomono was a generous size of extra veggies and good to share. Service is quiet, unobtrusive, professional, and the team very clearly works well together. I never lacked for anything and they took good care of me. Prices are fair for the quality of the meal, service, and location. Jinpachi is beautiful in its simplicity, appropriate for dates, taking parents, and sushi just for fun. Would recommend.

Unless you go super high end, crazy expensive, you won’t find better fish than Jinpachi. I’ve been to Japan several times and really got into eating sushi there. This place reminds me of Japan. The chefs are always dedicated and focused. My big complaint with sushi in America is that the Ikura never tastes the way it does in Japan. It does here! The hotate is buttery and melts in your mouth. The salmon is always tender and fatty. This is really the kind of place for high quality sashimi and nigiri. I’d skip everything else unless you can’t live without a spicy tuna roll or blue crab roll. They are great here, but the fish is so fresh, why fill up on anything else?

One of my favorite sushi spots around. Chef owner Taka is very friendly and interesting to talk to. The rest of the staff is very nice as well. The quality of fish here is really amazing. I have never had a bad piece of fish. The omakase here can get pretty expensive, but that goes for about every sushi spot in town. I usually come for the lunch special. They have a separate lunch menu with specials that are great deals and great meals. I really like the Chirashi bowls. The rice is seasoned very well and they put different assortments of fish on top. I am impressed by everything here. The miso soup and salad that come with the lunch special are very good. Every single slice of fish they give me is very impressive. The crispy rice with spicy tuna here is some of the best around. I have been here many times and always been very pleased.

Amazing experience! This place is small but they utilized their space so well I never felt overly crowded. The staff and sushi chefs were friendly and welcoming, the hot yield before and after the meal was a nice touch. The food was amazing and they had the best green tea ice ever had.

Amazing sushi. If you don’t want to get omakase, I recommend asking the sushi chef what he recommends/what is fresh. Also there cucumber sunomono salad is the best one I have ever had. It is super crunchy and fresh.

Some of the best sushi in LA. Not flashy, very minimalist and excellent fish. One star deduction for the fact that you have to order per piece.

Jinpachi is slabbed in between buildings and makes it hard to find. Upon entering, it’s a very small interior with worn looking wood — reminiscent of a New York style restaurant. What stuck out to me is the salmon here, which was melt in your mouth delicious and one of the most tender and fatty I’ve ever had. The ikura however fell a little short of my expectation, it tasted watered down. The quality of the fish is astounding and the chef is deft — straight from Japan. For the price, my only critique is that the ratio from rice to fish was off, and I would have liked more interaction with the sushi chef. If you want authentic Japanese in the heart of LA, come here!

My husband and I took a client here for dinner on Saturday. We mad a reservation, but showed up a little late(after calling), the were totally fine, but asked if we wanted to wait 5 more minutes for a table or sit at Sushi Bar. Of course, sushi bar. The fish here was stellar, super fresh and absolutely scrumptious! Octopus carpacio was amazing, toro was awesome, halibut, snapper, all amazing! I’ll be back for sure, the only issue I had was when I get a bill that says $ 168 in sushi, instead of listing the type of sushi and how much it was. I was good and drunk by then, so I’m sure I got overcharged.

As much as I’d found myself totally at home within 5 minutes of landing at LAX, there was a gaping hole in my life here thus far. A hole that could only be filled by copious amounts of medai, yellowtail, and salmon — and as E and I have probably spent at least a cumulative year of our 15 year relationship together in sush bars, I figured it was only fitting to find a place to get our kampyo and tamago on to celebrate our reunion. For this intimidating task I relied on the rec of A, whose authority on the LA food scene I would likely trust w my life as she is a BAMF, who guided us to Jinpachi. Easily got a res for 745p on a Friday night — place is fairly tiny(maybe seats 40) — when we rolled in it was quietly bustling at half capacity, and as the dusk faded into an inky night, a waitlist was put in place. As E is GF, we forwent many of the banging looking starters that were laden with her version of traif, though our neighboring table hit agedashi tofu that looked both cripsy and smooth, with a broth that was happily slurped — and started with ½ dozen kumamotos with cilantro/sriracha/yuzu — though the sriracha was a touch overpowering, the briney oyster came through — win. Also hit the jalapeño/hamachi crudo and was not disappointed, though the accompanying garlic/soy sauce was a bit strong for me. For sush, we went for medai(firm, buttery), scallop(amazeeee mouthfeel), and salmon(? I think? though maybe I’m misremembering) — proper ratio of rice to fish, well assembled. Only gripe here is that for $ 3.5−7 per order, I’d rather get two pieces instead of one. For rolls we hit the salmon skin and salmon avo(times two… because obviously one can never have enough omega-3s) — 5 – 6 pieces per order — fish was excellent and the rolls were executed with class, though portions were a bit petite for my taste. They have a few more gringo rolls on the menu(spicy tuna, tempura sweet potato), but if you’re looking for a spicy lobster roll with cream cheese/krab, this probably isn’t your spot. Absolutely deserves the high marks it has received thus far — though I will say that the service was a bit shitty — friendly but slow/inattentive — and as much I am for pacing out meals, there was probably 40min btwn us finishing our sushi and receiving our subsequent rolls. Mama was getting testy, despite enjoying both the nosh and present company very much. Din for dos with a splash of wine, apps, 6 orders of sush(1 piece per order), and 3 rolls was around $ 135 pre-tip — and if I’d been hungrier or with a date with a man-appetite(manppetite, obs), we could have easily spent $ 200 in the blink of an eye. Though I have little experience in the land of la-la land sush, regardless of where you hail from, Jinpachi is worth a ride.

I was really excited to try this place after reading all the reviews. I came out ridiculously disappointed. The fish isn’t terrible, but it definitely wasn’t anything phenomenal. Just average. Except the crispy rice spicy tuna — but then again, if you’re messing up crispy rice spicy tuna you need to rethink your business model. Worst part: food delivery. We got half our food at once and the rest came out — not a joke– 30 minutes later. Didn’t make sense. The service wasn’t bad, though. They were attentive and came by fairly frequently.

I’ve found a new favorite sushi restaurant in LA. Located inside a small unassuming door off rowdy Santa Monica Blvd, Jinpachi is a neighborhood gem that serves the highest quality fish in an unpretentious environment. I ordered the sushi moriawase($ 30), which was fantastic. The selection of fish is unique, high quality(no cheap fillers here) and incredibly fresh. The scallop in particular tasted like butter and melted in my mouth. The restaurant itself is pretty small but has two floors. It is intimate and comfortable — perfect for a casual date. As much as it pains me to say, the fish here is better than my other neighborhood favorite — Ajisai — right next door. The prices though are a bit higher but not by much(most hand rolls are $ 8). I’m already thinking about the next time I can come back.

With an awning that extends out covering the sign for passerbys walking on the same side of the street and frosted windows that dont quite let you see in, Jinpachi can be easily overlooked from the average sidewalk passerby. Upon closer inspection at night, you will see couples and small parties slipping into the doors of Jinpachi-it’s almost stealthy. Once inside the small establishment, you have the choice of a few crowded tables near the entrance, the sushi bar(preferred) or a few more larger tables up top for parties bigger than 4. Myself and 3 others decided to do the omakase, which in japanese means«you choose». You get about ~9-ish courses prepared by the chef that will refelect whatever he/she feels like serving you. After about 8 – 9 courses the server will come to your table and ask if you are full. If you are, that ends the meal, and if not, they will bring more courses for you. I have done omakase on numerous occasional everywhere from NYC to LA to HI to Japan, and the amount of courses always vary slightly. You can expect mostly raw prepared fish and seafood with the exception of some cooked things as well – everything very high grade. We were dining with some veteraned omakase sushi eaters and I was confident that this was going to be an awesome sushi experience. You get to try various things-many that I myself would never think to try and order ala carte– and it’s always so amazing to open your taste buds to whatever the sushi chef wants to create. Many of these dishes incorporate the most simplistic way to each raw fish-plain, to enjoy the flavors of each unique species, or with light sauces used to bring out the flavor of that type of fish. This is not a sauce drenching modernized experience, it is traditional to it’s Japanese core. It’s to enjoy the natural flavor and simplicity of sushi. Expect to pay about $ 120 per person pre tax and tip for ~9 courses. It’s a splurge for many, but one that will send you to a dreamy heaven for as long as you can remember the experience. I would choose omakase any day over ordering a drab california roll or spicy tuna, or something dynamite with sauces exploding all over it. Some examples of things we tried on this visit(I am sure I am missing a few): Monkfish pâté/liver, raw baby squid, king crab legs in seaweed paste, raw oysters with ponzu, ginger, and spicy sauces, rockfish, halibut, 4 type and grades of tuna(belly, toro, etc), raw sweet shrimp, raw ebi shrimp, langosteen, salmon eggs(roe), salmon, foie gras, albacore, yellowtail, snapper, mackerel, scallop, and soft shell crab. BESTTHING I HAVEEATENSINCETHELASTOMAKASE.
