Jamaican food place that’s actually good. Plus it has a grocery selection.

I recently booked Sam’s caribbean to handle the catering for my mom’s 80th Birthday. I was really happy with the level of service and professionalism. The food was delicious as always. Andrew worked with our budget to create a perfect variety of dishes. All of our guests enjoyed the food and mostly everyone had seconds. I highly recommend Sam’s Caribbean, I know they will be our go to for every event. Shari D

Very nice clean store I made my first visit today decide to try Jamaican beef patties and to my surprise they had none, at lunch time they’re not up to the game of serving FOOD. Less then a star !!

By the time I got there, the roti was gone! So, I decided to get a veggie pattie. It was okay, the pattie crust was dry. I was 0 for 0. The store was filled with different Caribbean treats, but not what I was in the mood for. Maybe I’ll try again another time.

Sam’s is a great local source of hard-to-find Jamaican spices and grocery items(like«browning» for black cake) as well as yummy baked goods like hard dough or coco bread and patties, along with hot food like jerk chicken(selection changes, but everything we’ve tried so far has been excellent). Who needs to go to Golden Krust when Sam’s has good food, groceries – and ice cream!

This has been my fav Jamaican market for many many years, this is their new location. Um what is wrong with the neighborhood? It’s West Hempstead a pretty decent area, bordering Hempstead which is probably what the reviewer from Atlanta was referring to, but still not anything like some areas of Queens, Brooklyn etc. it’s perfectly fine, there’s parking off Morton St. also If Hempstead Tpke is too busy for you, just park in the huge lot and walk thru the gate. The cooked food is better than all the local Jamaican take outs in the entire area and wayyyyy better prices, much better than the Tropical Jerk chain, not as many choices maybe but always a good selection. The jerk pork appears to be pot cooked rather than oven roasted making it very tender and tasty. The owner Andrew is a rare gentleman, very customer friendly. Patties are great esp the spinach. The grocery items are plentiful and varied, and there’s a small seating area semi-private for eating, plus there’s an ice cream counter with various flavors and shake options. Highly recommended.
