I’ve only been once because it’s next door to Plan B which was particularly busy and we were short in time. It’s a nice laid back place with what appears to be a good food and drink menu. The best part is the all day Sunday Happy hour. What a great surprise. We had appetizers and wine which were all very good and you can’t be the price. I’ll definitely go back on a Sunday and probably for dinner soon.

Very underrated bar right. I feel bad because a lot of folks go to plan b over park tavern, but the food is just as good. I really enjoy all of their food specials, they always have great new sandwiches to try. They always have a great happy and super nice staff! Definitely a great bar to try out if plan B is too packed!

Had the Cod Cakes, which I love. But for the past few times, they were burnt on the tops and bottoms. Seriously?! The folks I was next to, had food that was cold, despite the lovely presentation. Totally disappointed. High point always was Casey who was doing it all. Always.

Tried this place out for the first time today. The look and feel of this place is awesome– Edison light bulbs, exposed brick, and dark wood. However, the clientele is not what you would expect. This seems to have turned into a townie bar. We were hoping for 20 – 30 somethings like plan b next door, but the bar was filled with a group of 50 – 70 something regulars. We ordered the mozzarella sticks and a flatbread– both were just ‘ok’ in the world of West Hartford food. The one shining star of this place was the bartender Casey. He was very attentive, friendly, and had everything we needed. He was knowledgable about the food and drink menu and made a delicious martini. He is the one reason why we would consider going back!

Order the fried mozzarella. Order it. Order it NOW! Mozzarella sticks can’t hold a candle to these bites of heaven. Prices are reasonable because the portions are ginormous! The restaurant is «cozy»(aka small), so seating is limited. The bar area takes up more than half of the whole restaurant space. The ambiance could use some work. It’s sort of… boring. Also, compared to the sister restaurant Beachland Tavern, Park’s tap selection is limited. Our food was solid. Our bellies were full, our tastebuds were happy. Our bartender, Alex, was super friendly, attentive, engaging, and helpful. He had a full bar and was really hustling, but kept up and kept a smile on his face. Awesome job. We will return.

The craft brew competition in West Hartford is real. Park Tavern just picked up one of the best bartenders around from Max Burger so I assume they will quickly get real with the beer selection. As it stands today the selection is somewhat lacking but if you’re not into craft beer then you may find this place to be perfect. We arrived late at night after already having dinner so we didn’t get any food. But Good Lord the burgers smelled amazing. I’ll be back for one of those puppies soon. This space has been inhabited a few times but it looks like Park Tavern is making themselves at home. It’s super cozy inside and everyone at the bar was smiling. Crossing my fingers that they do good things in the future!

Came her for the second time tonight. Had a couple of drinks at the bar and the buffalo shrimp appetizer and a chicken Philly sandwich. Everything was excellent. Fresh, Casey the bartender was friendly and knowledgable about recommending food and drinks. It was quiet on a Tuesday night, except a group of 10+ guys in the bar area. Everything was clean and comfortable. Good place, I’ll be back.

Had to update my review because of the great service I consistently receive here. I ate at Beachland Tavern, Park Tavern’s sister restaurant, about a month ago, and received a 10% coupon there for Park Tavern. Brought it in tonight and had a great meal yet again. When the check came, our server gave us 2 more of the 10% off coupons for our next Park Tavern visits. 10% might not be much, but it was a nice touch and will keep me coming back.

Tired of the typical Hartford scene, I tried Park Tavern with a couple of my girlfriends on a Friday night. Drawn in by the menu and seemingly pleasant ambience, we figured it was worth a shot. Why not?(Did I mention I’m a poet?) We entered through the front door but you honestly couldn’t tell it was an entrance. I think we must have waited a solid 25 minutes just to be greeted by the hostess. Not to mention, there wasn’t a great reception area for guests to wait for seating either. We were kind of just crammed into the doorway as we watched the bar scene get rowdier with every drink. When the three of us were finally seated at an 8 person table(???), we reviewed the menu. I’m not sure why some people are saying there isn’t an extensive menu here… to me, it was pretty big. There’s something for every palate. I ordered a glass of Chianti which was divine. It’s the only drink I had but I highly recommend. Next, I got the calamari. This, unfortunately, was super disappointing. It tasted pre-frozen. Seriously guys I’m not sure these squid were even ever alive. Not satisfactory. Couldn’t pass for calamari even in a dining hall. Still hungry, I ordered the chilled shrimp salad. The salad was huge! With most of their salads you can order either a small or large portion but this option wasn’t available for mine. The salad was good… the shrimp much better than its calamari counterpart. I left feeling full and fine. The ambience here is kind of misleading, honestly. From online photos, I thought this place was going to be cute, intimate, and cozy. It dons Edison bulbs(a personal fave) and exposed brick walls. But once we got in here, it kind of just fell flat. I almost felt as though the ambience didn’t match the clientele. It was mostly raucous 40 somethings drinking to forget. Not date-friendly. There’s also not much seating… hence 3 of us being seated at an 8 person party table. I think if they rearranged the seating and switched up the menu to something more artisanal, this place could have a shot at competing with the behemoth burger bar next door.

I decided to try Park Tavern with a few friends just looking for a casual place to eat. When we first walked in a hostess was no where to be seen, after waiting for about 10 minutes we were finally noticed by someone who worked there. For some reason they only had one server working as a waitress and a hostess on a friday night! After we had her attention she was very helpful. I started with the Cod Cakes, which were ehh nothing special. They weren’t great but they weren’t bad either. They were a little to mushy but the portion size was very good. I then had an arugula salad with blackened chicken on it. It was fresh and again the portion size was very good. It was really just your average arugula salad. I also tried the calamari which was a little on the chewy side. Overall, the prices are right and the portions are large!

We happened upon Park Tavern because Plan B had a 40 minute wait. Initially we were just going to come in for a drink while we were waiting, but we took a look at the menu, saw we could be seated immediately, and decided to stay. Our waiter was very friendly and answered all of our questions. I was happy to find out that Park Tavern is run by the same people as Beachland Tavern. Our entrees came out pretty quickly and everything was so, so good. I took home half of my veggie panini for later. I think the décor could use some warmth — it felt like they had just opened and were still waiting to be inspired, as there wasn’t really anything on the walls to give this place its own personality. Other than that, everything worked for me.

Cozy dining area, great outdoor seating but middle-of-the-road offerings. I’ve stopped by a number of times for Happy Hour(Monday — Friday: 3−6pm, $ 2 off drafts, $ 1 off bottles, $ 2 off wine or any other drink. Select ½ price appetizers) And ordered take-out on some of their sandwiches(go for the philly-cheese, the best choice in my opinion) Pricing is more than average for the entrees, otherwise flatbreads pizza, sandwiches, and salads are what you would expect for the area. Parking in the adjacent lot is damn near always full, so opt-for free parking on Park or Beverly Road.

Their food is phenomenal! It’s just your classic American bar food, e.g. Wings, sandwiches, salads, but hot dang are they good. I highly recommend the boneless wings and their salads! Haven’t gone wrong with any dressing, salad, flavor sauce for the wings yet. And they have an amazing happy hour as well as friendly staff! Plus in the summer they have patio seating :)

Seems like people assume Park Tavern is trying to be another Plan B, but it’s definitely not! Their menu is so much different and arguably better! We love the cheesy bread appetizer and have tried most of the flatbreads. I recommend the Mac and cheese as well! The waitstaff /bartenders /owner are always friendly and attentive even when they’re pretty busy. The atmosphere is pretty good, never overwhelmingly loud like it frequently is in other bars. It can be a bit dim and can sometimes look like they’re closed if there’s no one sitting on the patio, but I definitely recommend giving it a try!

I went to Park Tavern for the first time this week because the wait at Plan B was especially long(these two restaurants are attached). I was surprised to see that there was no wait at Park Tavern and there were plenty of free tables. Our waitress was extremely nice, bubbly and very attentive. The restaurant was clean, generally a typical bar/tavern atmosphere. I had the Caesar salad with grilled shrimp. It was pretty big and tasted good(plenty of garlic). Next time I will ask for the dressing on the side because there was a lot of it. It was only $ 13 for the large, including the shrimp. Overall, not an overly impressive experience, but I would definitely go back again. Good place for a reasonably priced lunch or dinner.

I came here for a quick drink before 7pm. The bar was definitely getting full, but my friend and I still got a seat. Our waitress was bubbly without being overbearing. The ambiance is kind of «meh»; nothing makes this venue stand-out from an atmosphere level, though you could tell a lot of the people here were regulars and enjoy the spot. I look forward to another occasion to come by and try more beer and food.

Bumping it up to 4 stars. I really like this place. I hit it up for Happy Hour on a Tuesday and we had a couple of beers, a couple more of those tasty steamed burgers with some buffalo shrimp lettuce wraps. Frankly the 4oz burger really filled me up. I dig the locals @ the bar. One fella in there had the whole place cracking up over a story he was sharing. This is a little gem in my neighborhood… which keeps getting more restaurants and bars… much to my delight. If the Park Road area had to spar against Blue Back Square, I think Park Road would win just out of spunk.

I’m involved in a lot of different organizations outside of work and often find myself going to many dining establishments to conduct the meetings. Park Tavern was the venue for one of those meetings and while there were some noisy patrons, the atmosphere was great for our small group meeting. The server was excellent! He was very attentive and didn’t seem to act like he was in the weeds even though he had a very full station. I enjoyed a glass of CSM Riesling, a half order of deviled eggs and an order of plain chicken tenders. I’ve found that chicken tenders with ranch happen to be a craving I’ve developed in my early 30’s. :-) Overall a great place to grab a bite and I can definitely see myself stopping in for a visit soon!

Park Tavern does an impressive job at providing good food, great drinks and a friendly atmosphere. From start to finish, the servers and manager were as friendly as you can get(without being overly so!). The food is very good and the drink and cocktail list is excellent too. The burgers were cooked perfectly and I recommend the ‘two patties, one side’ option. You’ll get two 4oz burgers and a side of choice for $ 11, which is hard to argue with. Ironically, the burgers are much better cooked than the ‘burger place’ next door! My only gripe is that the cod sandwich was a little ‘oniony’, so maybe give that a miss, but you’ll be good with almost anything else. The service is friendly and food is great. Don’t be fooled by the place next door — this is where you’ll want to be.

Came here for happy hour and they had $ 3.50 draft beers until 6pm — good deal! There were a few appetizers that were ½ off until 6pm as well. We tried the caprese, bruschetta and some chicken tenders(first order with honey mustard and second with buffalo). Everything was good, nothing spectacular but good. The honey mustard sauce tasted like it had wasabi in it and had a nice kick at the end though I liked the buffalo sauce a tad better. There is outside seating here if you are looking for some patio time. Or the bar area is nice too and might be a great location to check out a game since there were a couple of TVs. I want to come back to check out their menu.
