Ok, I get the ambiance of this restaurant and the whole Zombie theme but the food is overhyped. It’s a smashburger, which is a tiny burger patty comparable to a McDonald’s burger patty. The food is ridiculously greasy and the fries are shoe string(not a personal fan of thin fries). Way overrated.

Definitely an A for creativity on how many ways to make a burger. However the meat sucks. This Iowa, the beef should be azing. Also the toppings to burger ratio is off. Cool concept, just didn’t do it for me.

I really hate burger places that get hype because of their crazy toppings, and ZB does just that. If you have to hide a mediocre(at best) burger patty with 10 pounds of greasy toppings, you’re not doing it right. Save your money and time waiting in line for a burger you basically have to eat with a fork and knife(and pepto bismol). You’d get a better burger pretty much anywhere. If you have to wait in line behind people who don’t know what a good burger is, don’t bother.

In a word: overhyped. I had high expectations based on reviews but was pretty disappointed by my meal. In fact, I couldn’t finish it. I tried the 28 Days Later burger and found it to be very bland. The party was under-seasoned and greasy. The fries were shriveled up clump of grease. You could literally squeeze the grease, which was obviously too cold at cooking time, from each fry. My husband had the Raygun burger and got a big piece of grizzle on his first bite. There are better options for fast burgers and better options in the mall.

Burgers are good! Had the Ray Gun burger it was good. But I’m not a fan of their fries…

Live, love, and zombies! Zombies have invaded Jordan Creek and it’s just as awesome as the downtown location. They have all of the top sellers, sides, and shakes available! The food is wonderful and the fast service and friendly staff are all consistent with the original Zombie Burger!!! So happy they are expanding!

First time here from NY and I have to say this place is needed back home. The appetizers were so imaginative especially the chili fries, deep fried brussel sprouts and nacho platter. But the thing that got my attention was the«Going to get you Barbara» triple burger. I mean who came up with the idea of 2 grilled cheese sandwiches, 3 burgers, bacon, onions, and Zombie sauce all together? All I can say is it’s outrageous! We know burgers in NY, but this place is my favorite ever! The prices are outrageously inexpensive. Five people under $ 75.00 complete with apps, drinks, burgers and dessert. Can’t wait to come back. Definitely worth the trip.

I have been to Zombie Burger+ Shake Lab two times in the past week, while traveling through Des Moines. It is worth a trip to the mall! I did see that there’s a downtown location, and I will put that on my list for next time. On my first visit, I enjoyed the«28 Days Later» burger with a vegan nut loaf patty. The vegan patty was a good(though slightly chewy) consistency and had a nice flavor. The patty was topped with a light blue cheese spread & caramelized onions. Delicious! On my second visit I ordered the«Mushroom«Apocalypse«with roasted brussels sprouts as an appetizer. My daughter had mac & cheese with a rainbow unicorn milk shake! The mushroom apocalypse is a breaded mushroom croquette filled with cheese, topped with fresh veggies… I absolutely recommend ordering this! It was unique and delicious. My daughter reported that the mac & cheese was simply OK but the milkshake was one of the best that she’s ever had! The zombie décor was super fun and I hope to see the zombies moving toward Nebraska soon. It would be great to have a zombie burger in my area!

These burgers are very different and unique. I got the walking ched which is a burger with cheese and onion, with macaroni and cheese on top. The bun of this burger considered of two fried macaroni and cheese patties. Do not come here expecting a light meal! All of the burgers are unique and filling and are worth the wait!

I really really wish we could give this a higher review. The theme of the restaurant was awesome, the names of the food was fun, and everything looked tasty and yummy. Everything tasted yummy as we ate it. It wasn’t until about ½ hr later when we all(5) started feeling sick. We all ate different types of burgers/chicken. And for the rest of the day, all our stomachs were uneasy, queasy, and restroom stops were frequent, unfortunately. The price was more too, you’re paying for the fun theme of Zombies. I will say that the garlic fries are outstanding. If you like garlic, salt, and blue cheese, this is a dish from heaven! I would go back ONLY for these fries.

Unique, delicious, fun, quality! The food here is absolutely delicious. It’s very obvious that they are made of high quality ingredients. The Poutine is the best I’ve ever had(and I’ve been to Toronto!) and the Mac and Cheese is out of this world. The burgers are the best around. Even a plain olé burger will be worth the trip. But this isn’t why someone goes to Zombie Burger. Their unique, creative, and genius combinations make for a one-of-a-kind culinary experience. My favorite happens to be the Undead Elvis(without mayo — I like for the peanut butter to be the main flavoring agent) but please peruse the menu carefully and take a little risk. Step outside your comfort zone a tad and try something a little out of the ordinary. You never know what will blow your mind!

Regardless of whether I’m a fan of Zombie Burger, they are smart about putting one in the mall. People who travel to Des Moines seem to go either downtown or to Jordan Creek Mall. Both locations/areas have a Zombie Burger. It’s also one of those unique places visitors like to try. I’m not a huge fan of their burgers and this stop was to get a kid’s Mac n’ cheese and a milk for our daughter. The line moved quick and I didn’t have to wait long for my order. They put it in a massive bag with handles. That was nice since I was holding my daughter but that bag was soo big! The Mac n’ cheese is really yummy and was just the right temperature. The main item I saw being sold was the shakes. I think I only saw one person order a burger.

My friend and I decided to try Zombie Burger again so we stopped by the one at the mall. There will be a long line during prime time lunch time, so be aware of that. Though it did move rather quickly so it wasn’t too bad. There are plenty of burger choices(some crazy!) and toppings for your fries. They also have shakes too. Don’t expect combos, so you’ll have to order a burger, side of fries, and a drink separately. I upgraded to the double patty for my burger«Dawn of the Dead», since I couldn’t remember if the patties were thin or not. I should have stuck with the single patty since it was quite large and messy, since this burger comes with bacon and a fried egg. I also ordered a side of regular fries since I didn’t want my total to go beyond $ 15 for a meal at a mall food court! So with the double burger(almost $ 9), side of fries($ 2), and a small drink($ 2) my total came to be almost $ 13. Quite expensive for a meal at the food court if I may say. The burger tasted good, plenty of burger goodness. The fried egg did feel a little plastic like, so that was an odd texture while biting into the burger. The fries on the other hand were a dud. There were a lot in the cup that it came in(about the size of my small drink) but they were all tiny! It was like I got the leftover fries. I dumped them out and there were only a handful that were normal size. Nothing special with these fries either, some were burnt too but that didn’t bother me. Overall, I was a bit disappointed with my experience here. Maybe it would have been better at the original location, but in the end I’m still basing this on the food… not the table I’m sitting at or building I’m in. For $ 13 it was way too pricey, and there was nothing special that it can offer to justify that price in my opinion. I’d be happy to spend under $ 10 at a other food court place and spend the remaining money on Starbucks or something :)

Descent fast food at gourmet prices is how I would describe this place. I ordered a burger that was supposed to have blue cheese which it didn’t. They must have forgotten. My burger still however tasted pretty good but was missing that cheese I was looking forward to. The meat had very good flavor and vegetables there were fresh. So, a solid burger but not as good as the description of what it was supposed to be. With one patty it also seemed a bit small for $ 7. Ordered a half order of their garlic and blue cheese fries. Yes, I’m a blue cheese fan. It also had bacon on them. Blue cheese was crumbled on top with bacon. I was expecting them to melt the blue cheese a bit to help it soak into the fries which it wasn’t. The garlic was missing the entire time until I was almost out of fries. It was all on the bottom of the mountain of fries and was almost unbearable because it was clumped up at the end. Fries were descent but again, not what I was expecting. My friend got double patty burger that had bacon and an egg on it. He enjoyed his burger as well but wasn’t a fan of the fries that were very short. After doing a double patty and ordering a drink he paid nearly $ 15. I paid around $ 10 for burger and fries. It doesn’t come with drink nor is there a combo option. It seemed like it’s a fast food joint trying to be gourmet which it’s not. I think it’s way over rated just because it’s got a zombie theme. I wouldn’t mind eating there if my friends want to. But I would rather have other options at the mall than pay that much for fast food.

I have been to the zombie burger down town a few times and loved their food. So I expected this place be close to the downtown one. It exceeded my expectations for a fast food restaurant. The zombie burger tasted exactly the same. They also have ranch on the side of you want! The reason I gave it 4 stars was because of the fries. There wasn’t sizes for them or at least I didn’t see them. So the portion was huge. They were also sort of burnt and very greasy. They weren’t full fries, it was like I got the worst out of the bunch. That being said it was really fast service. I got my food within 5 minutes after ordering which is reasonable for how long the line was. I definitely recommend this place!

Been to the downtown location and while i was a fan of the food i didn’t enjoy the wait or the below average service at the downtown location. This made me hesitate from trying this location, my kids wanted cheeseburgers so i decided to try the mall location. I am so happy we tried this location! The zombie burger concept makes much more sense as a high end fast food eatery than a sit down restaurant. Burgers came out quick(less than five minutes). Obviously there is a lot more seating since we are in a mall. The kids meal if a great deal! For 3.99 you get a nice sized burger(same size as a regular burger!) And a side of fries. This is great for those with large families! The fry basket is a great deal as well and can feed about 4 people! Since i have been jabbering about the fries… They are great! Would come here just for them! Burgers of course are great and the bread is buttery and crisp on the inside but soft and chewy on the outside. I will come here instead of the downtown location, better service, equal to better food quality and more seating.

Review is only for the shakes. Came here on a Tuesday night around 8:30PM. Came here for dessert after dinner. We ordered the pumpkin shake, zombie unicorn and smores. Price is 5/shake. I had the zombie unicorn — this is my favorite after trying it the downtown location. This has vanilla ice cream, marshmallow cream and fruity pebbles cereal. Highly recommend this one. Smores — very good and chocolately. Kind-of gritty to drink bc of graham cracker pieces. Pumpkin — it was like drinking an ice cream pumpkin pie.

Burgers to die for… Literally. Got around to Zombie Burger at the Mall after waiting a week for the lines to get shorter. The second weekend after the grand epen8bg the wait looked a lot better. Now the burgers they serve are pretty close if not the same as the ones at the East Village. Not as many burgers on the menu as the orininal location but they are the most popular ones. All the cake shakes and cereal shakes are there and people are eating them up like crazy! There are one or two people dedicated to just making the shakes. They are very fast and pumping out burgers in a very timely manner. So if the line looks long don’t be discouraged as it moves quickly. Like I mentioned in the beginning the burgers are pretty much like the ones at the original Zombie Burger. The menu is similar but condensed and free of alcoholic beverages. If you like the East Village Zombie Burger you will be satisfied with this smaller version. If you’ve never had Zombie Burger I can give you a bit of advice as follows. The menu is very creative and fun. The food is good but not exceptional. The price is a bit steep but worth it if you like the crazy burgers they make. There are vegetarian options but I have not tried them. You can also get a burger any way you want just ask.

It’s a copy of the downtown restaurant, that carries less menu items. They still offer the shakes and fries still must be purchased separately. With that said I’m impressed with the food. It has the same great taste and freshness that it’s always had. The store is bright and sticks out like it should. The service floored me! They are incredibly busy, yet somehow have it done packed. The staff is efficient and even more amazing was they had lots of staff but everyone put the effort forth to get it out. I’ve seen many restaurants add second locations and fail. This will not be the case. It’s worth a stop!
