I went in today with my dad to get some breakfast. I order the melt omelette and my order the 2 for 2. We enjoyed our food. The service from Pam was ok it wasn’t the best. I especially didn’t like the fact that she left our check and we just began to eat our food. Plus after she did that she never checked on us.

Walked in at about 4:50 am thinking I might have a quick breakfast. Order placed and entered per my receipt at 4:55 am… and then I waited & waited. It took 30 minutes for my steak and eggs to finally make it to the table. Normally, I wouldn’t criticize the time if they were busy. They were not. The icing was watching the cook standing at the register chit-chatting with the server. No apology from the server for the delay when it clearly showed that my order was placed so much earlier. The food was ok which is the only reason I gave it 2 stars. If I knew it was going to take so long, I think I would have gone home after my 12 hour shift and cooked my own darn meal. I would already be in bed sleeping!

You want it bigger? You want it better? Do you want comfort food to turn that frown upside down? Why not stop my Norms anytime of the day or night?! Okay, okay, it’s just an inexpensive 24-hour chain restaurant and I generally come for one item on their menu for breakfast: sirloin steak and eggs(there is just such a nice flavor to their meat)! Their sirloin is flavorful, not fatty, and tender. Their chefs know how to cook it. If you order medium, it’s medium. You can also get the bigger better steak and eggs if you’re extra hungry(bacon, sausage in addition to the steak). Next are Norms’ army of servers. I’ve never had bad service at this norms. They make a point to greet you promptly and get you in and out. Refills are quick and they clean up the plates right away. Next time you come, add a friend jalapeño to your order for an extra kick.

We were told the wait would be 15 minutes, 45 minutes later… We were separated into two separate booths. Two members of our party left already. When we finally got seated, they ask us if we would like menus!!! How are we supposed to order without menus!!! WTF?! The waiter was the only nice person in the place, the hostess, the guys at the bar, the management was all HORRIBLE! Worst service ever. Food is a 3⁄10. Don’t waste your time.

We decided to come here on a whim because the kids were hungry. We were a party of 6 which I didn’t foresee as a problem. However, this location did not seem to do well with a bigger party. We waited over 30 minutes and watched as everyone else behind us were seated promptly. Hungry kids and patience don’t really mix well. When we were finally seated, we waited another 10 minutes for someone to take order then of course, waited more time for our food to arrive. We ordered normal breakfast and lunch items. My salad was just a plate full of lettuce drenched in ranch dressing. My husband got to the point of not really caring for the food anymore since we waited so long. No one really apologized for the wait or offered us any comfort. We won’t be coming here again.

Be sure to crave buttermilk RANCH with strands of HUMANHAIR(yup, found three) all over your food if you order a CHICKENCAESERSALAD. I can’t with this one. We ordered our salads to go, and I figured although they had a low rating, they couldn’t possibly ruin two chicken caesar salads, especially not if they’re to-go since we wouldn’t be expecting much service. Well, congratulations… You’ve managed to ruin my meal. Aside from the unforgivable hair, let me address that your employees should know that you NEVER apply dressing to a salad to-go. ESPECIALLYNOTTHEWRONGDRESSING! Dressing is ALWAYS given on the side to be added later, as ITISTO-GO. So to top it off, my salad is not only hairy, but soggy as well. DELICIOUS overall. Did I bother to call and complain, you might wonder? For what? They’re just going to offer a replacement meal IFTHAT, which is 20 miles away and definitely disgusting to even fathom. I already feel disgusted by the hair, have a gross buttermilk ranch after taste on top of still having my lingering hunger. Besides, the attitude I anticipate I might receive might cause me to get an enormous speeding ticket on my way back. Hair, watery ranch, and sad soggy lettuce is enough of a turnoff. You’ve been warned.

When you can’t sleep and feel like a snack on a late Monday, there ain’t many places open in Covina. But I found out that Norm’s is open 24⁄7! Off we went. On a cold late night, after watching Dancing with the Stars show semi-finals, a night out in this bedroom community made me crave for a cup of hot chocolate. I was really too full to have another dinner, so I opted for a plain order of French toast thinking that it would be a small piece. I was surprised to be served 3 huge pieces! I fiddled with a half as it was a bit bland; just a thick piece of a slice of bread dipped in lots of scrambled eggs. Where’s the cinnamon? Asked for syrup to liven it up. We’ve tried Norm’s once on a weekend and it was packed full of families with little bratty kids running all over the aisles or crying in their chairs. Norm’s interior is set up like a half circle. It reminds me of a spaceship like the one from Star Trek; the Captain’s command area are where the cooks are and it’s like they oversee the customers. I get the sense that there are many regulars there who chit chat with servers. Even on a late Monday night, I was shocked to find couples with school-age children dining. And these kids may have had the sugar rush of hot chocolate or donuts somewhere, because they were running around past our booth. Giving it 3 stars for being«predictable» and average. I’m just glad they were open, because a lot of places are usually closed in Covina on Mondays.

The food was good, a little burnt but I liked it but the services is horrible!!! We just wanted a refill of coffee but the server Celeste R just dissappeared for a long time and she gave us attitude the whole time -.- If she doesnt like her job why if she even here? Seriously. Made our first time the last time. However Jaime, noticed we did not like the service and offered coffee and if we need anything. I feel like they treat people differently here«/

Usually come here for their buffalo skillet breakfast, but I guess it wasn’t on their menu anymore so decided to try their club sandwich with fries, pretty decent quality and very filling. My BF tried their ny open faced sandwich and he liked the Taste of it but said it was a little hard to eat with only one piece of bread, but I guess that’s normal for that type of sandwich? Other than that, service is good, but if you are going on a weekend morning be prepared to wait a while as these are the busiest times.

I ate dinner at this Norm’s Restaurant in West Covina, CA on 9÷18÷2015. It was my 1st time there. I had their baby back rib trio(with shrimp and chicken) and the total bill with drink totaled $ 21.66 before tip. You can’t go wrong at Norm’s. Jessika, our server, was exceptionally good. Plus, I took photos.

So i tried norms for the first time in my life friday. I dont know why there are such low stars. Yes it is one of those standard coffee shop chains. But the food seemed really fresh and good. The prices were really reasonable across the menu. Our group tried club sandwiches and a couple salads(which were huge)…all great. I would pick this place over dennys or ihop any day!

«Let’s meet up at Norm’s. Yes, the one in WesCo.» We are creatures of habit. Norms happens to be mine when I’m in the area, just about any time of the day with friends. It was great when they built this location closer than the previous San Gabriel restaurant a couple years back. I only get one thing: Steak and Eggs(order the steak whichever way you’d like). For that alone, the friendly servers, and the innumerable times I’ve been, Norm’s is a great alternative to IHOP and Denny’s and has never let me down. Did I mention the coffee is great too? It’s close to a lot neighborhoods, great for families, as well as big groups. Eating here is not expensive at all, and it’s good. Sometimes, yes, the wait is long, but that’s the expectation — lots of happy patrons, maybe some impatient ones. Nevertheless, Norms is the norm for me.

Before writing my own review of Norm’s, I read many of the other reviews or Norm’s to gauge what other people were saying and to address their comments in my own review. 1st and foremost my 5-star review is that they are open 24 hours a day. I have never been a normal hours kind of person and it’s nice to know there is a restaurant out there that is always open when you get hungry. 2nd reason for 5 stars is the food. It is a typical family restaurant menu, but you get good value and portion sizes with their specials and on every meal they have. Home style cooking is not anything like a celebrity chef restaurant, but I have never been served a meal I didn’t like and sometimes can only eat ½ a meal and take the other half home for leftovers. 3rd reason I like Norm’s is the atmosphere. The older locations like this one in Covina with it’s Googie architecture I think are really cool and I am very happy they are still around to enjoy. Because I mostly come here late night, there is never a crowd and to me it is a really peaceful setting. I also like all the Norm’s locations where you can keep an eye on the kitchen like this one. Also the servers here have always treated me very well. And compared to Denny’s, I think the food at Norm’s tastes twice as good. So those are my reasons for giving Norm’s 5-stars. Thanks Norm’s!

I wasn’t surprised that there was a wait on a Sunday morning. With that said, we were seated within the wait time estimated by the hostess. Unfortunately, we were seated close to the entrance and with the crowd that was waiting gaping at us, it made me feel like leaving before I even received my order. I would recommend improving the waiting area and adding additional seating outside for this purpose. Let’s see if the food is worth the uncomfortable experience. Food was served. Nothing special. I have lived in Southern California for 35 years and have never eaten at a Norms and probably won’t again. For me, when eating out the food is most important; but I also factor in the atmosphere and service and in my experience this place falls short in almost every category.

I like this place, especially during the weekdays when they have their bigger better breakfast. It’s a pretty good deal for a lot of food. I think this place is better than Denny’s or IHOP. It’s definitely more crowded. The service is kinda eh, but seriously these waitresses work hard and often have way more tables to manage than they should.

As far as a coffee shop they do a nice job. Love the steak & eggs. Steak is always tender & fairly priced. We have always had good service. Never had a rude waitress that smells like cigarettes & chewing gum. Servers are always attentive & friendly

Visit on Feb 21, 2015: I had a good visit on a crowded Saturday night. The place had a noisy chaotic ambiance, but despite all this it seemed like the staff was firing on all cylinders. Wait time for my party of 5 was about 15 minutes. The table when we arrived was kind of sticky, but they cleaned it up some more when we asked. I ordered coffee with the $ 8.99 Sirloin and Eggs. My first cup of coffee had a somewhat off taste too it(maybe it was not fresh), but subsequent refills tasted good. I ordered the steak medium well, eggs overhard with hashbrown and pancakes. I was nervous about ordering breakfast at 8:30pm but it went well. Everything tasted great and was cooked to specification. I really enjoyed the pancakes. Photos uploaded. Respect to our server Danielle, she was running around all over the place but was great the whole time in making sure our table was taken care of. It must be extraordinarily difficult and stressful being a waiter/server in that kind of busy & chaotic environment but she handles it very well. Five stars to her.

Probably the best ny steak and eggs deal in Los Angeles. When on special $ 8.99 when not still a steal at $ 10.99. Great service and open 24hours. I just wish there was a norms closer to Pasadena. This is one of the last norms in the SG valley area unless you make a trek out to the beach area. Best steak specials if you don’t mind the simple coffee shop atmosphere. This one has great friendly service too. New York steak and shrimp only $ 13.99 and includes soup and salad. Again not a place if you are expecting a high end steak but a great comfy greasy spoon coffee shop chain that is still surviving. Great for breakfast and other dishes as well. Lots of reviews knock norms but what are they expectations? You can’t beat the price. Not a place to impress but get a good affordable coffee shop meal.
