Was thinking of terrible restaurants ive been to and this one came to mind. Terrible sushi. I got their california rolls and i can tell you that the ones at costco are much better and not to mention cheaper. Its expensive here. Will never return.

Under new management. Service is great, staff is friendly… but I’m a sushi snob and this place has gone down in quality. Rolls are very thin and pricey, not worth it.

Very badddd!!! I do not recommend. Food was very bad presented, it looks like somebody ate 2 of my foot rolled sushi, my brother’s one came with 8 rolls, while mine just 6 rolls! Curry was very bad! It looked like soup, someone please teach them how to make curry!

This is probably the worst excuse of a Japanese restaurant I’ve ever been to! I only put one star because I had to to write a review btw this is the first review I’ve ever written that’s how bad it was! I can’t even recognize two of the sushi peices they gave me?! I though it was supposed to be yellow tail but it looked a old shoe. I pretty much just paid $ 15 for a miso soup and two bites of a salad with no dressing

Because of the other bad reviews. I didn’t have a good experience. Besides that, the chicken was dry and the employees were a bit creepyI should have known that something was wrong when they used the sushi bar as storage…

They are opened again. I saw that they were on a list in the SGVTRIBUNE due to cockaroaches. Im sure they fumarated because its back in business. I really did enjoy their sushi, soup, hot tea and wonderful service.

I once order to go, was super please with the tempura udon soup. I ordered the stuffed mushrooms, wasn’t too big on that. I dined in on Wednesday, it was empty. The décor is cute, and honestly it’s a hole in the wall but there soup is sooo good. They serve sushi and Thai food, interesting combination. Over all, it’s def a place to try, at least. My bfs sis said she went a few days ago and she loved it. I ordered a tempura roll, it was tasty! I’m coming back for udon soup! Sake(small) 4 $

Usually when i order there the food is really good. Today, i was very disappointed with my order. They forgot my salad and my miso soup was cold, also my hand rolls looked like someone made them with their feet.

[+] Easy parking on a Saturday lunch. Lot is small with small businesses next to the restaurant. [+] Started off right with super cold Sapporo beer! [+] Our server is nice, polite, and helpful. [-] Boo! No Ikura sushi. I settled for Unagi. [+] food came out nicely and promptly; delicious green curry and Unagi. [-] no a/c but it was not scorching hot outside nor inside. But next time I eat here, I hope they have a/c. [-] I got tired of seeing the Nutri Bullet infomercial. ESPN would have been nice. [+] They have a restroom. [-] The flies did not bother me but it would be good not to have any inside the restaurant. The sushi chef and server tried to fan the flies away and shoo it but too late, they were already inside. [+] Overall, positive and ok lunching experience.

Ordered some rolls togo and just realized it’s a Thai food + Japanese food restaurant. What a weird combination. And I had the worse California roll I ever had in LA. Definitely won’t go again.

First off I wouldn’t have known there was a sushi place here in its location but I’m glad I found this hidden gem. Food is so damn GOOD! I loved the cucumber rolls so much. The place is small only fits a max capacity of 30, but either way this place is yummy!

Usually, I’d expect to find decent sushi places in Little Tokyo. There’s always an exception. Anjo is located in West Covina. It’s not your typical sushi loving city, like say Old Town Pasadena area. Additionally, it’s one of several occupants in a small, dated strip mall and as you enter, you may hear the blasting of Latino club music from the hairstylist next door. Or get stared down by the old guy standing outside of a water store. BTW: what’s a water store? But as you enter Anjo, the neighbor’s music is quickly drowned out by their own selection of tunes, which is pretty decent from what I recall. Perfect volume to do the job, but not so loud you can’t hear your company’s words. The menu is colorful. Not like a rainbow, but the words they used to name their specialty rolls. With names like Marilyn Monroe, Ska Reggae, Sea Lavender, I try to make the connection with the ingredients(don’t, it’s a waste of time) Ordered the sashimi platter. Nice, big, thick cuts of fresh raw melt in your mouth fish. I was surprised. A 4 for sure Also, the Ska Reggae(jimi hendrix is on the wall, that’s the only connection I made.) A lot going on with different flavors of spice, sweetness & a light crunch… the flavors all work well together, A 4! Sea Lavender, you fell short. Yes, it’s an interesting version of specialty rolls, but it could’ve been better. The sweetness was dominant, and that just doesn’t work for sushi. Save it for the teriyaki. A 2.5 Overall, it was a great experience. The service was great, we went for a late lunch so it was dead! Felt like we had the whole place to ourselves, and we did. Decent jams playing, good quality fish and oh… if you check in, free dessert. Thx Unilocal! That was a nice surprise. And the décor gave off the feel of a cool coffee shop, with pop icons on their colorful walls. I’d recommend checking it out. Notes* * This is not an authentic sushi place, so don’t arrive expecting it to be. Truly authentic places, if mirroring one in Japan will not serve fancy rolls w/fancy names. Anjo is a good place to try different rolls for their creative combinations and get a nice plate of sashimi. * Free dessert choices are: green tea ice cream, or 2 mochis. We asked politely if we can combine both of ours and get the tempura ice cream instead. It was worth asking. We were served green tea with 2 different sauces. Good stuff! 4!
