AMT American Express Travel

I have over 90 thousand points with AMerican Express. I was unable to buy a ticket to Louisiana in March and today I spent 5 hours trying to use points to buy ticket to Miami with no success. Today I have been on the computer/​phone since 9am. It is now 1:30pm. I have talked to NINE staff members and have been redirected back to the Website so many times I was locked out. What good are these «points» if they can not be used?
I have been with American Express for over 30 years. I have NEVER received such poor service. This type of run around tactics aligns American Express with the lowest common denominator in customer care.
Shame on you. I will be closing my AMEX account.

To be fair, I’ve only had one experience with AMT but it will most certainly be my very last. The responsiveness of my agent was lackluster, she made several errors when completing our reservation and was not helpful with providing additional information beyond booking flights, hotels and airport transfers.
She also did a terrible job of making the reservation itself, despite my specific instructions. We chose to stay at a particular hotel bc my credit card gives us daily meal credits and guarantees early check in and late check out — and instead she chose to book with a tour company that provides extra bonus points, rather than the features I listed above. She also did not communicate that she did this instead, and we didn’t find out until we are on our honeymoon where it was too late to change it. Typically it wouldn’t be a big deal, but you’d think if you make a request, the travel agent would make an effort to accommodate it – especially in a day and age where you can book online without much hassle.
The icing on the cake: unapologetic attitude from the agent when I inquired about the error. Stay as far away as you can from this travel agency. It’s horrible.

Maureen has been amazing, kind and patient. We have worked with her for almost a year planning our 1^st over seas trip. She planned a well balanced free time and tour times. Her 1^st round of hotels were ⁴⁄₅ stars and she didn’t fret when we asked for 3 stars «Best Western Court Yard by Marriott» quality. She didn’t bat an eye lash when we eliminated a stop.
While traveling, she was able to help us when our room was just outside of trash cans.
We felt protected and cared for by Maureen.

We planned our 25^th wedding anniversary to Australia and our agent Esther planned the entire 3 weeks with air, hotels, unique tours. We already have her planning our next trip to Tahitian islands.

I’ve used AMT Travel a few times now, and have gone along on other trips planned by others and through other agencies. I have to say, when I have the choice, it’s AMT all the way. Most recently, a cruise through southern France proved to be the experience of a lifetime. Thanks to Maureen at AMT Travel, practically a single phone call led us to our flights, pre-​cruise hotel and excursions in Paris, transportation wherever we needed it, and a top notch river cruise with all the bells and whistles we were looking for.

I have been in the travel industry a long time, and I usually book all my travel myself. However, the task of booking my husband and I plus my in laws and brother in law on a three week Ireland trip proved to be pretty… scary. Maureen at AMT really helped me, even when I was crazy enough to insist that I would rather drive than pay the high cost of a private chauffer. And when my father in law dropped the bomb that his drivers license expired, making him unable to drive the manual transmission van only 3 hours before we landed in Ireland, a quick email to Maureen saved the day. She canceled our van and rebooked two automatic cars (which is apparently rare in Ireland) so that my brother in law could drive one and I the other. By the time we landed at the airport, the cars were there, correctly booked, and the money for the van had already been refunded to my credit card. WOW. Then when the London air traffic control CANCELED our flights home for a full day, she helped us book a hotel for the night, and helped us file an insurance claim to cover the cost. Even for the most experienced traveler, she is an invaluable resource.
