Yikes! So I went there with the illusion of eating delicious tacos topped with cilantro, cebolla and some spicy salsa and I imagined my lunch being on POINT! Boy was I mistaken. I rarely, RARELY, give one star but this place had me gagging after I left. I ordered a few tacos and a side of rice. The first taco I had was cecina, it was good. Then I went for my chorizo taco, well, it wasn’t really chorizo, turns out they use longaniza but call it chorizo. If you’ve ever tasted longaniza you know that the difference is HUGE! If I would have known, I would have never ordered it. My third taco I gave to my friend who found uncooked ground BEEF in the taco. Uncooked! WTF. My final taco was another cecina and since my previous ones hadn’t been good I was looking forward to scarfing this one down. As soon as I took a bite I grabbed a napkin and had to spit it out. The meat tasted old, which is weird because the one I had just had was so tasty, but I could not eat it. I let the ladies know that the tacos were just not good and that I would not be paying for any. Thankfully my waitress understood and took them off our bill. The only thing I ended up eating was their rice. Their salsas were pretty good too, a little more salt wouldn’t hurt though. I’m sure they had a bad day or whatever, but unfortunately I can not bring myself to go back again.

I was in the area for a kids bowling event atBowling Green so decided to stop in and check it out. I’m a big fan of ethnic markets normally. I noticed the large taqueria next door for the next time. I walked in and was underwhelmed by the produce section. It wasn’t bad but was small compared to my normal market La Rosita. I was able to find what I wanted and moved on to meat. The meat counter was full of standard items and purchased milanesa, tacos al pastor and prepared tamales and home made chorizo. The milanesa was tasty, taco mets went bad before I could cook it, tamales(red) were good and chorizo wasn’t like any chorizo I’ve had. Hit the bakery section and the fresh pastures were good but the flan was disappointing.

I needed some Mexican desserts for an upcoming event and decided to try their bakery. I bought some cookies, churros, a chocolate doughnut(for me) and some bread. All the items were really fresh and tasty. I love doughnuts and they make a really good yeast doughnut with a generous amount of fudgy chocolate. The smell of the bread baking is mouth watering and the bread doesn’t disappoint. Really good bakery items and affordable prices. I also ate in the taqueria located in the store. I had the pork torta served on their fresh baked bread with lettuce, cheese and avocado. It was really flavorful and a good sized sandwich for under $ 5.00. It’s nice to be served a salsa that has flavor and heat. The service is a little slow but the staff is very friendly. Cheap, tasty eats. I will definitely return.

I’m originally from Mexico. THIS is authentic mexican food. Everything I’ve ever had in this place is delicious and not expensive at all. The service is a little slow, depending on the day, but I never hesitate to go eat there. It’s like being back in Mexico. The grocery store side is good too, although I haven’t been to so many Mexican grocery stores that I could judge accurately.

This supermarket has the best Mexican restaurant, hands down. I get the chicken tacos dinner(rice and beans) and an horchata every visit. I must come here at least once a week on average. My waistline has been expanding at an extraordinary rate and it’s ’cause of this place. The tres leches cake from the bakery is great, I definitely recommend it.

The reason I am a regular at La Chiquita is because it has an awesome restaurant attached to it so I can eat, and then shop in the grocery store when I am done! I love the restaurant because it is cheap and has the best tortas around. They are made with the bread fresh from the bakery in the supermarket, you can’t beat them! My mom and aunts also rave about the chicken tacos, so you have to check those out as well. They also make a green salsa and mix it with some avacado for the table to eat with the tortilla chips; beware-it is addicting! As for the grocery store, I love it. The produce is fresh and you always get the meat from behind the counter. I go so often that the butchers already know what I want when they see me coming. As others have said before me, the bakery is where I always go to satisfy my sweet tooth. They have different sweets everyday but my favorites are the corazones(cinnamon heart-shaped cookies), the donuts(you will never go back to dunkin donuts), and the cupcakes! Ismael, I also love the gigantic hostess-like cupcakes with cream in the middle. Yum yum. I have also met the manager of La Chiquita, and he is always there and very helpful. On more than one occassion he has asked my family members and myself if we need assistance finding something.

I’ll go here to hit up the bakery in the back because they make their own HUGE versions of Hostess Cupcakes and they make some awesome rolls that are perfect for making tortas. As for the rest of the store, it’s pretty much your standard grocery store that has many items that cater to the surrounding Mexican community.

I’m not sure how this place stacks up as a Latin American grocery store. I come for the panaderia in the back. The baked goods here are tastier, in my opinion, than at the actual panaderia further along Roosevelt. Nice selection, with a variety of filled and topped breads, plain old bread, and individual slices of fancy cakes at the counter. It’s easy to drop $ 10 or so on Latin American baked goodness. Grab a tray and some tongs and go to town!
