Overall, I like patronizing Pete’s. They have a nice selection of local and home grown produce that they supplement with produce sourced from a distributor. They also have a nice selection of local dairy, meats(cured and frozen), breads, and coffee. They also have great«home grown» honey, bread flour and amazing eggs(although the eggs seem hard to come by this year). Their late summer sweet corn is amazing. I would like it better if they used organic methods. I get that it’s expensive be certified organic but they can still use organic methods and get my seal of approval. At least when I ask if the crops have been sprayed they will honestly tell me yes(they usually say«lightly») or that they don’t know. But, if I had to choose between local/conventional and not local/organic, I’d choose the latter, so I don’t buy as much from there as I’d like to. You do need to double check your receipt… the registers are fairly old school and everything is hand keyed in so mistakes are made.

Pete’s is a gold standard for it’s namesake… a produce… fresh, local, choice, … farm… yeah, they grow stuff nearby. I love stopping here and just soaking in the goodness of what is fresh. Pete’s is a feast for the eyes, nose, hands… I’ve never come here, and not picked up twice as much stuff as I planned on, and with no regrets. Beyond the super fresh produce and usual suspects, Pete’s has a fun selection of country ham, cheeses and other non produce goodies. Definitely pricey, so bring your wallet. Freshness comes with a price.

Pete’s is a local institution that offers home-grown produce at a resonable price. This place is awesome and every town should have a «Pete’s» selling locally grown produce. So happy the local, small town farmer is still around. VERY fresh produce at a reasonable price. Also, they get the local kids in there working. Support your local grower!

One of the best farmer’s markets in the immediate West Chester area. I have been coming here since I was a little kid back when they were located where Applegate currently is and back when Westtown had much more farmland.

Great locally grown fresh as it gets produce! Tomatoes and corn are the main staples that we buy here, but everything else that we have tried has been great also.

This is another one of my «happy places». During the summer months, I rotate and shop at about 5 different farmer’s markets. Pete’s produce has so many great things going for it. I love their produce(their corn is amazing). I love their spaghetti sauce with Heirloom tomatoes, I love their wide selection of honey. The list goes on and on. I’m eating their applesauce now. I am a big fan!

I’ve passed this place a few times and stopped by here with a friend. She was looking for some dessert to bring to a gathering in the evening. Upon entering the parking lot, this place was CROWDED! I felt like i was at an amusement park or something. But no complaints as all the intimate shoving and pushing is all worth it when you see all the local vegetables and fruits such as fresh tomatoes, vegetables and corn. Quick FYI, their sweet white corn is DELICIOUS and really sweet. And if you’re into marmalades and jams, there’s a mountainous selection of it for you to choose from. Good luck as you might end up bringing home one of each flavor as they all just look so good. Regarding the dessert my friend picked up, we bought a blueberry pie. It was fresh and quite expensive but it’s fresh and local and delicious so price makes it all worth it. I do not know why i’ve never stopped by here sooner… I’ve been missing out on so much fresh produce and goods…

Pete’s had become part of my weekly routine on the weekends(usually Sundays) since mid-May and started to have more local produce arriving. As other people have noted, Pete’s is known for the type of white, sweet corn they grow that becomes available in July. Really tasty stuff good for a number of things. A number of other things are locally grown too depending upon the time of year. It is a little more expensive than the grocery store but the produce is usually of very good quality in terms of taste and presentation. Usually about 25% but it varies considerably from item to item. The only thing to wary of is that Pete’s has plenty of other types of produce(apples, pears, bananas, etc) that aren’t grown locally and are incredibly marked up in price compared to any local grocery store. Don’t pay a price premium(in some case nearly 1.25−1.5x what a Giant or Shop Rite charges). Last point — Pete’s accepts Debit cards and it isn’t a bad idea to bring your own bag to carry what you need since Pete’s only has small, clear plastic bags available for produce.

Pete’s started as a stand to sell the fruit and produce grown on the adjacent farm. But it has grown into a farmer’s market that not only takes its bounty directly from their fields into the store, which they still do, but bring in produce and fruit from neighboring farms as well as ones in Jersey. There is acres of jarred marmalades and jams, sauces frozen items, gourmet items such as duck breast and smoked meats. But the compelling reason to go in the dead of summer is for what he grows namely, the berries, the tomatoes and the corn. The yellow corn is wonderful but the white shoe peg is a treat for which I wait all winter. Great squash, peppers, peaches and just about anything you would want in fresh produce and fruit is here.

I wonder if Kim would mind if I cut and pasted her review? Seriously, Pete’s is the best and I’m not just saying that because it’s the only store within walking distance of my house. As Kim said, Pete grows his own fruits and vegetables, which he supplements at the farmstand with produce from other local vendors. The best stuff that Pete grows himself is the corn. It’s shockingly good. Pete offers several varieties, but the Mirai yellow corn is the rarest and best — so sweet and delicious. He also grows a ton of different heirloom tomatoes. However, I think Pete’s real secret weapon is his strawberries. You can only get them for the couple of weeks they’re in season, but oh man, they are fiiiiine. I don’t think I ever really appreciated strawberries until I started eating locally grown ones. In addition to all the produce, Pete’s farmstand sells a bunch of other cool stuff, including Amber Waves pies, sweet corn ice cream, homemade salsa, and a wide variety of Mexican popsicles. The plants also seem nice — I lack a green thumb, but my mother-in-law the gardener was impressed. Pete’s opens for the season on April 23rd, and will stay open until November(for pumpkin season).

Come spring I start jonesing for produce not shipped in from Brazil… luckily Pete’s is just up the road! Pete’s is a small family run farm on 926 in West Chester. They grow their own veggies, which are clearly marked on signs, or truck in local goods from surrounding areas(HELLO New Jersey corn!) They also have a small selection of specialty smoked items such as duck breast or scallops, frozen. Oooh I hope they have the smoked portobellos this year — those are fresh and to die for on grilled pizza. Like other farmer’s markets, when something is «in» it’s dirt cheap. I stock up on their bell peppers when they’re in(for roasting and freezing) and tomatoes(for stewing or roasting.) During season I’ll stop by several times a week to see what’s available and what’s going to be grilled for dinner that evening. :-) They also have a huge selection of flowers they grow themselves, plus standard nursery items like impatiens, etc. In the fall they deck out for halloween. Then sadly they close and I have to wait again until the next year for my fresh as possible picked that day produce.
