Name changed. Chimis I believe. But the food is still amazing!!! Prices are too. It’s my favorite Mexican place and the only place I’ve been that cooks it better than me. Tamale deluxe almost every time. And I can never finish my plate.

Fast service, fresh ingredients, tasty food and quality margaritas are all on the offing at Chimi’s. This is our go-to stop between Columbia and St. Louis, and it seldom disappoints.

We’ve been here dozens of times. The food is really good. Guacamole needs some work, its never fresh. Maybe should add tableside guac. The service is ALWAYS so slow which is the reason for 3 stars.

It was good when I first came here few months ago but it seems the service went down hill earlier this evening. Met a friend here for dinner and we had to wait for a long time for our food. They were not that busy on Monday night. I think they try to save labor cost. This is just wrong. If you don’t have customer service ice, no o e will come. The food was good…

Excellent for lunch. Portions are right. Service was attentive. Food freshly made. Not your standard chain Mexican restaurant

Several waiters on phones and tablets including our waiter when we were waiting on check, good margs and salsa, fajitas taste weird, charged for extra torts but didn’t get any. Tried this out because the good reviews and super disappointed. Not going back.

Being from Texas, I am always on the lookout for a great Mexican food spot. I went here for my first time a few months ago and again a couple days ago! This place is excellent. The salsa is fresh and homemade. The staff is very polite and efficient. The margaritas are VERYGOOD! ;) The menu is extensive and affordable! This is our new spot and I’m so glad I found it. One funny thing though is that I still am not sure if it is Chuys or Chimis. :)

My fella and I are Mexican restaurant lovers. Nothing beats the combo of a marg with chips and salsa on a dinner date and this place impressed us. My boyfriend said he even liked it better than our usual spot right by his house. The salsa here was fabulous and the chips were fresh and crunchy without being to greasy. And the margarita was delish! I ordered the veggie chimi and was not disappointed. We will definitely be back and will recommend it to our friends.

My husband and I eat here all the time. I love their chimis! I was a huge elmaguey fan before trying chuys but chuys food has much more flavor than elmaguey. They have the best salsa in town, wish I could buy a large jar and brig it home! We’ve always had a great experience with kind staff we’ve never had a problem.

Usually the staff is very friendly and accommodating but today, our waiter was very unfriendly, bordering on rude. Won’t be back for awhile.

So I am a huge fan of La Carrata which is from the same family. However the last time we were at Chuey’s. It was not as good. Mainly because of the server. He just acted like we were in the way of what he was doing. Granted it was 2:30pm and we were 1 of 3 tables. Just was disappointing for somewhere that I normally rant and rave about and suggest to everyone.

My husband, daughter and I have been here twice. Both times were excellent. The food is fantastic. The service was great. Pricing was very reasonable. Would recommend Chuy’s to anyone.

I’ve been meaning to write a review on Chuy’s for a long time — I’ll cover why in the review. This particular visit consisted of myself, my partner, and our roommate and occurred last Wednesday 6÷19÷2013. We’ve ate here quite a bit over the last 2(maybe 3) years and initially it was one of our favorite restaurants. However, over the last year, perhaps year and a half it’s not been the same. I’m not sure if ownership has changed during that time or not; but that’s the feeling it has. Unfortunately at least in our experience whatever has happened over that time was not for the better. The menu was overhauled quite a bit, the service is not nearly what it used to be, and frankly I don’t think the food is as good overall. Now from the looks of the other reviews here, perhaps we are in the minority on this, but it is definitely our observations. We ordered our drinks and the white queso dip as an appetizer and frankly that is always good; although no better/worse than most Mexican restaurants. The dip came out as expected, but our drink order was incorrect — it took two more trips to actually get that corrected(and as a side note, later on in the meal the server took a water glass and an ice tea glass to refill and came back with two waters — not quite sure how that got confused since they weren’t busy). My partner and my roommate each order a combo and both thought their food was average. I ordered the«Special Dinner» which is supposed to come with 5 items along with beans and rice. Perhaps I’m not clear on the nomenclature of Mexican dishes; but one of my 5 items appeared to be a bean tostada in lieu of a chalupa. I tried to question the server about it, but frankly we had a bit of a communication barrier and I didn’t get far. I’m not a bean fan, so I pawned it off on my roommate so no harm, no foul — but I was a little agitated. The rest of my food ranged from decent to good. The chile relleno recipe there apparently has changed over the years as I used to love theirs and now, not so much. Frankly, the feeling at the table was that we could’ve gotten as good or better food at about any Mexican restaurant, and definitely one that is closer to where we live. It was DEFINITELY not as good as it used to be and it’s been that way for a good year to year and a half as I said above. We try them every couple of months; but I think we’ve about given up. I can’t speak to the quality of their magaritas and such as we don’t normally drink; and for those willing to take the time to look they almost always have coupons(commonly $ 5 off $ 20 or $ 25, $ 7 off $ 40, and stuff like free queso). As far as their menu goes, we preferred the older menu which ironically enough is the one that is still on their website. And that brings me to another pet peeve which isn’t unique to Chuy’s. Do they really need to have a 5+ MBPDF file as their online menu? And if they are going to, how about having a current menu? As far as pricing — they fall into either the upper $ range or the lower $$ range depending upon what you choose to order. It seems most entrees with a «soft drink» or «tea» for a beverage will push it to at least the $ 11 range which is $$ — I mention this because the consensus seems to be $. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not bad — but it’s not what it was in our opinion and now is no better than any random Mexican restaurant — especially for the $ 40 or so our bill came to. Frankly we find Vista Grande in St. Peters(at the corner of Mid Rivers Mall Dr and St. Peters Howell roads) to be a better choice for us — I especially love their Casa De Seafood, but that’s better discussed in a review of that restaurant which I’ve been meaning to do.

Well this is not traditional Mexican food nor is it Tex Mex… it happens to be Missouri Mex as I like to call it. Being a native Texan I have had to come to terms that I live in the land of El Maguey and every other place including Chuy’s replicates it. As far as quality and taste of the food I would have to say that it is better than most around. Like many of the other reviews say, the fajitas as good and worth a try. When we went they set us like 6 inches from another table so that was awkward.

Chips came out warm, salsa was thick but not too thick, and the fajitas were the best I’ve ever had. The flavor of the steak and chicken combo was standout. Best Mexican I’ve had so far.

Best Mexican in the area. Good pricing and a descent margarita. Not greasy like others I have experienced in the St Charles county area.

I came here for lunch, and was pleasantly surprised. This place has really delicious food and they give you a lot of food for their prices. I got the chicken chimichanga, and they had a bunch of different choices for their lunch specials. It came with rice, refried beans, and a little corn cake. It’s like most Mexican restaurants and you get chips and salsa with your meal. Their white queso dip is also very tasty. My only problem was it took a while for us to get our check after they gave us our food.

I love Mexican food so I am always on the look out for new places to try. We were out doing black Friday shopping and I pulled up Unilocal and saw that this place was down the street from where we were at. The reviews looked promising so we stuffed all the shopping bags on top of the kids, and headed to the restaurant. I followed another reviewers suggestion and got the hot sauce, this stuff was very tasty, although not very hot. Other family members who usually avoid spicy food chowed down on this hot salsa, so I highly suggesting ordering some up when you drop in. The majority of our group got a burrito supreme which contained just about every meat you could want in it. You could see and taste a nice layer of seasoning on each slice of meat, and the guacamole had nice chunks of avocados in it. Overall this place now ranks among the top Mexican placed I have been to in the greater St. Louis area. Only downside is I probably won’t be back in the area until the next Black Friday, but maybe I can find a reason to drop in sooner.
