Needed cupcakes for a kids birthday party, and since everyone has allergies these days I had to find a place that was nut– free. Surprisingly that is hard to find. Was extremely hesitant about ordering from them since there were such not-so-great reviews here. But everything turned out great. Ordered 2 dozen chocolate ones and it was finished as promised and everyone at the party asked where the cupcakes came from. It truly is delicious and above average cupcakes. I can understand what other reviewers said about their costumer service though. The woman seems to be a more straight-to-the-point person. Giving them a 4 to bump up their average rating. They deserve it.

Just tried Five Bites for the first time. The cupcakes are good but nothing special. The owner who dealt with each of us at different times was quite arrogant each time. I dealt with her twice before the pick-up and my husband dealt with her at the time of pick-up. Both of us agreed that she was not welcoming or friendly and didn’t even seem to enjoy what she was doing; which is very odd since she is the owner! Would not go back, simply due to the poor attitude /(lack of) customer service and would not be able to recommend it for the same reason.

I am an event planner and have used this company for four events this past year. The cupcakes are just ok by Boston cupcake standards, but buying here saves me from a trip to the better places in Cambridge or Boston. As of today, I will never use them again & will happily drive. In my 20 year career, I have only ever once dealt with a vendor as rude and arrogant as this woman who owns this company. I was doing a large 60th anniversary party today & had placed an order. I went to pick them up at 10& was rudely told«I told you to come at 11». I left, but took with me the cupcake holder that I had rented from her. The Party was at 1, so I raced to the venue to setup for 100 people. When I put the cupcake stand on the table, the shelves were crooked shelves. My client immediately saw it & told me that she did not want to use it. I tried to fix it but couldn’t. I could not leave the event set-up, so a granddaughter of my client offered to pick up the cupcakes. I gave her the stand to return with the message that I would come by next week to get a refund for it. The store owner was so rude to this young girl that she came back in tears. When I had the party up & running, I called the owner to find out what the problem was. She proceeded to yell at me, tell me I was unprofessional to send a young girl to pick up the cupcakes and return the rack, that the rack was not bent when it left her shop that morning and was beyond insulting to me. Life is too short to deal with people like this. Customer satisfaction is not a priority here, nor is taking responsibility for problems that arise.

I bought an Amazon Local voucher and was stuck at work late so didn’t get to the place in time. I went the next day after fighting unbelievable traffic and after 30 minutes stuck on Linden Street, got to the store to find a sign saying opening at 1:00PM. That was an hour away. Then the owner was nasty and rude. She doesn’t understand how to talk to customers. I don’t care how good her cupcakes are, there are many other local establishments I would rather give my money to. Won;t go there again after I get there to pick up my order. Try Treat in Needham — they treat their customers very well and have delicious cupcakes.

Mixed feelings on this place, and this is why… I like their cupcakes… don’t love them… but like them. I think the moist texture of the cake is as good or better than other bakery cupcakes I’ve eaten. I don’t like the ambiance of the«store». It’s basically just a kitchen with a small cupcake display on the side. It could be so much more than that! I like that they’re a small business, and that they offer deals through Groupon, etc. I don’t like that the people that run the place are brusque and sometimes bordering on rude. Just not great customer service. I don’t like that I don’t understand when I need to call ahead and order and when I’m not supposed to call ahead and order. The first time I bought a Groupon, I called ahead and ordered without a problem, the second time I bought a Living Social, I called to order and the person said that she wouldn’t take my order and I just needed to come in and basically get«whatever was left». I don’t like that when I walked in, I was ignored for about 2 minutes while the two people working there carried on their own conversation. I don’t like that they try to charge extra for tax on top of the deal(just add it to the deal in the first place, if it’s that important! I’d still buy it!). I don’t like that if I can’t get there right at 11 or 12, I get a much lower variety of flavors to choose from because they sell out of the most popular flavors. I would like more exciting flavors than vanilla and marble, especially when the other ones look so good on the website. Eh, I’m lowering my star rating to two.

I bought a living social deal for 6 regular sized cupcakes. Called there to place my order and they said I could come the next day to pick up. I was on their website as we spoke and said I would be there at 5pm, and the person on the phone said«ugh we close at 5…» Well closing time on the website says 5:30. Got to the bakery and the entire room smelled like pot. This is not a joke, and I’m not attempting to be funny. There is no doubt it my mind and it was EXTREMELY overwhelming. Mentioned it to the kid working, he said it was his sweatshirt. Lovely. Charged me for a box, which is pathetic. Include that in the cost — business 101. I would have rather paid $ 11 for the deal than be insulted when I had no cash on me and had to run out to my car because I had no idea. Cupcakes were dry and below my expectations, though these deals usually indicate a struggling bakery I thought it would be good since it was in Wellesley. Won’t be going back, Quebrada is significantly better with incredible customer service.

Five Bites is just plain average. The customer service isn’t great — think hard-to-find store, seemingly empty, with a too-busy woman juggling baking and sales. There isn’t the«cute factor» you might get at another bakery, but the cupcakes don’t fall short of expectations. I got exactly what I ordered over the phone, and the red velvet cupcake was perfectly frosted and packaged. They seemed a bit finicky about orders(certain minimums required) and flavors tend to sell out fast. But the price was right, and so were the cupcakes. I might be back, but I won’t be hurrying.

You need to drag you ass(or bike since you ARE getting cupcakes) and get some of these delicious cupcakes. I tried the Red Velvet and the Double Chocolate. I thought the Red Velvet was chocolaty but crumbly — but my rumbly tumbly enjoyed the cream cheese goodness of the frosting. The best out the two was the Double Chocolate — think, Hostess cupcakes but the kind you remember as a kid, not the kind you have now because let’s be honest, all that stuff tastes better when you are kid then when you are an adult. It was so moist and the frosting continued into the middle of the cupcake. This place is a pain in the ass to find because the GPS tells you that«you have arrived» but it is actually in back, so look hard. It is definitely worth the drive and location frustration.

I didn’t think I’d ever find a cupcake shop to rival my local fave(shout out to Cakes by Erin In Haverhill). Well don’t tell, but I might just have! First off, a quick note. This place is a pain in the patoot to find and God help you if you come during karate drop off time — moms stopping in the«drop off lane» to let their kids out and the«pick up lane» to pick them up totally blocking the entrance with their minivans and SUV’s. Also, from the street it looks like an office building. It’s not until you park in back that you finally see the sign. Then you have to go upstairs, down the hall and to the right to get to the shop. But it was worth it! We got a red velvet and a double chocolate to split. Both were

I was surprised to see the overall rating for this place was a bit on the low side. I have tried out A LOT of bakeries in the suburbs of Boston and elsewhere, I can honestly say that I LOVED the cupcakes here. The cakes were moist and delicious, the frostings were flavorful but not over powering. I ordered a dozen of variety cupcakes so I got to try out quite a few flavors, twelve to be exact. :) I originally tried this place with a Groupon but am looking forward to heading here again. It seems like most of their low rating was due to the Groupon situation. In my opinion the instructions were clearly stated on the Groupon. I buy a lot of Groupons and know to always read the small print so I am not disappointed. I understand needing to call ahead with the Groupon for a Saturday, they are a small shop and didn’t want to over bake or be completely wiped out with a lot of unhappy customers. I guess it didn’t quite work out either way unfortunately.

Five Bites Cupcakes has good cupcakes. Some of their cupcakes are superb cupcakes. I’ve tried at least a dozen varieties, and my favorite is the orange cupcake. It reminds me of the superior orange cake in the Joy of Cooking. The only real problem with Five Bites is that they don’t really seem to take advance orders, and as a result you are limited to the stock they have on hand when you visit. When they had their Groupon deal, you had to call ahead, but honestly, the call-ahead/don’t-call-ahead policy is confusing to me. In any case, their stock runs out quickly during the day, which for me begs the question of why they don’t simply make enough to meet consumer demand. Many of their cupcakes are injected with frosting or other cream fillings, and this is pretty awesome. I find their chocolate cupcakes(any cupcakes that have chocolate cake involved) to be very dry. The healthy amount of frosting helps with the dryness, but their better cupcakes are different flavors(carrot cake, red velvet, birthday cake, lemon). For the price(about $ 3/cupcake) and at this cupcake-boutique level of quality, I think Kickass Cupcakes and Quebrada are better choices.

Five Bites Cupcakes is a teeny bakery located in a small corner(?) commercial building just beside a shopping plaza with a large parking lot out front. To get to the lot behind the building, turn into a small driveway right beside the building. Signs clearly inform you that you are in the right place. Check out the cupcakes in the glass counter to make your choice. A list of cupcake flavors are posted to the left. The price for a dozen is $ 36. Individually they are $ 3 — $ 3.25 apiece. Each of their cupcakes are capped with sweet frosting — very sweet, but not an overwhelming portion. Hidden within is either a filling of sweet cream or the same frosting it was topped with, with the exception of the carrot cake which had no such hidden center. I had the chance to taste several of their flavors, and found each to be moist and tasty. My favorite in flavor so far, however, was the coconut, despite the crumbly nature of the cake. Also, I agree with rebecca b. that the title flavor of the cream cheese frosting was lacking. They are closed Sundays and Mondays. Not every flavor offered is available each day.
