I had a Groupon for a mani-pedi that I bought in Feb 2012 and it was good for 1 year. I called 6 times to make an appointment and was told that because she had lots of regular customers and she was there by herself, it gets hard to find appointment times. This begs the question of why she used Groupon to promote her business or didn’t limit the quantity. Finally, after mentioning that I would just ask Groupn for a refund because the deal would expire soon, she managed to fit me in. The place was neat and pleasant and so was she — good so far. I didn’t see the autoclave where you sterilize the instruments although there was Barbicide evident. No comfy massage chairs with built-in pedicure tubs. She brought out a foot massage tub you could get at Bed, Bath & Beyond and then I had to put my feet on her knees for her to do the pedicure. She did a nice pedicure, though the brush and foot file clearly were used on everyone. The manicure started out with her cutting my nails without any soaking. I have naturally long nails and one had gotten chipped, so I wanted the rest cut down to that length — still keeping them long. I told her I had hard nails and should soak them. She said it would be ok. First clip and my nail went flying. She was surprised and the damage was done — one side had snapped off too short, so the rest had to be all cut down. Since I always have long nails, the top of my fingers don’t touch anything. I mentioned that and she acknowledged that they would be sensitive. Gee, thanks. Well, I walked out of there with my nails very short, although she said that other people would be happy with even that much nail. Not the point. So, nice lady, but… not going back.
