2nd time coming here and yet, I still say 5 star. Food: Large Portions and delicious, Atmosphere: Open friendly and enjoyable. I don’t need to say more, it is becoming my go to place.

I’m a picky eater, and I’d never tried Mediterranean food before, but my husband really wanted some gyros, so we stopped here. I was a little nervous when I saw the cafeteria style ordering, but i pushed through. I’m glad I did. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was open and friendly, and the service was really good as well. The portion sizes are HUGE, and I couldn’t finish my meal, so make sure you’re very hungry before going in. I’d definitely recommend this for a delicious lunch.

We tried Al Basha because it was near our hotel. We are glad we did! The gyros were very good. The chicken shawarma and rice were very good. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Really enjoyed the Turkish coffee too. Would definitely recommend it and will return when we are back in the area.

Went on a Friday to lunch service to try out this place. Line wasn’t long, and moved swiftly. My hubby and I both ordered the Gyro Plate, which comes with two sides for $ 10.99. They have a wide variety of side choices without up-charge! Also came with a side of perfect tzatziki sauce. I tried the Greek salad and baba ghanouj, and he tried the Greek salad and spicy hummus. The salad was plentiful, full of the essentials, and tasty. The spicy hummus was incredible, while the baba(which was green?) was kinda«meh». Pita bread is free, warm, and unlimited… Different from what I’m used to, but delicious. I recommend the slightly browner rounds.

We read the great reviews & thought we’d try out this place. I had a craving for some hummus! We went on a weekday afternoon, around 4:30, there was no line & I got my food fast. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate with rice, spinach cake and salad. The salad was delicious, full of fresh romaine lettuce, feta cheese and olives. The dressing was light and flavorful. The rice was tasteless. It had no flavor whatsoever– skip it. The chicken was pretty good, all white meat with great array of seasonings. The spinach can cakes were also lacking flavor-skip. I did order some hummus, it was not good, no flavor-skip it. The pita was not like any pita bread is ever had, it was more like a bread yeast roll, fluffy and doughy. All in all I’m giving 3 stars and not 2 because the chicken & salad was decent but I won’t be returning.

WTH? Green baba ganoush? It didn’t taste like eggplant. The pita bread while hot and fresh was sticky and gummy. The kebabs were tasty but the rest of the platter was marginal. I’ll try again maybe. Meh.

Came here today. Hummus was bland. Pita bread was fluffy and yummy… though cold. My husband got the chicken plate. He said it was tasty but also, Cold.

Don’t spend your money anywhere else. This place is da bomb! And you get so much food. And the bread, so freaking good. Go! And the garlic dip, to die for.

Nice people here. The food is good, though maybe not quite the right price point given the casual atmosphere and quality. It looks moderately priced, but they charge everything a la carte so it adds up! Still, it is the best Mediterranean food in the area!

I love the super fresh, delicious food and the friendly owner. The décor is beautiful and the place is very clean. The eggplant is soo delicious. my husband and I have to get a vegetarian plate to share(you get to choose your items on the plate) and then each a plate. This is NOT a Greek restaurant. more like Lebanese(Arabic) which is 1000000x better.

Traveling through the area and found this great Mediterranean restaurant. Food was excellent and the staff was welcoming. The owner recently changed the recipe on the kabobs and made it a point to find out if we liked it. If it was close to home we would visit regularly.

During our pre-cruise stay at a near-by hotel a couple of weeks ago, we decided to try something local instead of one of the many chain restaurants. This place is walking distance and got good Unilocal reviews so we thought we’d try it. We are sure glad we did. The food was really good! We had kabobs and gyro plates with sides(eggplants, spicy hummus, stuffed grape leaves, and something else I can’t remember now) and all were delicious. The meat of my kabobs was a bit overlooked thus the 4 stars. Other than that, we were happy with what we ordered. Staff was friendly and price is reasonable. We’d definitely recommend it.

Great Greek restaurant in the strip center. I ordered the four sides: Baba ghanouj, green salad, tabouli, and the Greek salad. Everything is really good. I would definitely come here again next time I’m in town.

Definitely one of the better clear lake area restaurants. Very quick and friendly service. They have great sides. Favorites are the eggplant casserole, potatoes and gyro plate. But many good fresh sides to choose from. I eat here once a week. Plenty of healthy options.

Today was my second time here. The first time, after I came from my Greek vacation I wanted to experience a little more on the Mediterranean food. I was not very austere and tried the gyro sandwich. It was good but not as juicy as I had tried before but was still good. Today, I gave the place a second try and ordered the Beef Shawarma, Jerusalem salad and fried cauliflowers. The salad and cauliflower was good, but the beef, once again was dry and too chopped, does not look like the picture they show in the menu. I am left very disappointed.

This place is delicious! I went in there and didn’t know what I wanted. I asked them what I should pick between a couple of salads and they let me sample all of the ones I wanted. Very inexpensive, and tasty food.

The food was pretty interesting. Ordered the salmon and the yellow rice and the lemon potatoes. The salmon although well cooked should’ve been seasoned better. The lemon on the potatoes was very overwhelming. That was my only complaint. Not a bad place and I’m not against coming back.

Al Basha is the best!!! It really stands out on Bay Area, quality wise and as an independent establishment. Moving back to the area from downtown Houston, I was definitely feeling the void of good Mediterranean food in my life and Al Basha now totally has it covered. I’m there on a weekly basis. I’ve never had anything I didn’t like here. I think the hummus is kind of meh(the bf still goes for it every single time), but everything else is great and always fresh and delicious. Try all the veggie sides if you go! My favorites are the fava beans, eggplant and salads.

Yummy goodness at a nice price! My husband and I both got the shawarma wrap, one beef, the other chicken. Very juicy and tender, with flavorful spicy hummus on the side. Definitely will return the next time we are in the mood for Mediterranean food!

On our recent mini vacation in Houston, we wanted to try different eating establishments then what we have here locally. After looking at what was close to my hotel, we saw the excellent reviews for this restaurant here on Unilocal and decided to try it. We are beginners at Mediterranean cuisine and the young lady who works here was very helpful in helping us decide what to pick. The restaurant has a casual but exotic Décor, and the ordering process is like a cafeteria like Lubys but with Mediterranean cuisine. I chose the chicken shawarma plate, with two sides, regular hummus and lemon potato wedges. My Husband got the Gyro plate with his two sides being Greek salad and phyllo? Dough wedges that were filled with cheese and spinach and feta cheese. Our two dinners, two drinks and two desserts was right at about $ 31! And the food was delicious! I could’ve easily eaten here every night of my vacation and been happy! If we are ever back in Clear lake we will absolutely stop at Al basha again. Highly recommended, five stars.

I come here every Friday for lunch and it is always on point! They are set up as a cafeteria so you get most of your food automatically unless it’s has meat, which they cook up fresh. Their gyro salad is good. The gyro is good. Fried cauliflower is good. Everything is good! You have to get the spicy hummus. On point Free fresh pita bread is available. Baklava is not my favorite but I am not a fan of it really anyway. They have a big set up of kinder eggs which I find amusing. The same people are always working so you really get a connection with this restaurant. The owner usually rings you up and is really nice. Love this place!

There aren’t that many options for halal Middle Eastern food in Clear Lake so my family has been coming here a LOT ever since it opened and was called Baba’s Grill. This place has changed owners and names a few times over the years, and at the same time the quality has fluctuated up and down, but I’m proud to see that they have stabilized and are serving good quality Middle Eastern food at reasonable prices. My parents eat meat and I’m vegetarian, but there are options for all of us and we’re always satisfied with our meals. The restaurant is clean with spacious seating and they’ll continue to get our business as long as they keep it up!

I went here because I saw the good reviews and pictures. I really wanted to try the spicy hummus, and all I cared for. I went to get a to go order of the spicy hummus and the tabbouleh. I was extremely disappointed by both. The tabbouleh was completely underwhelming, and underseasoned. It needed a good amount of salt and lemon added to it. As for the spicy hummus, I didn’t taste even a pinch of spice. It might be my palate, but don’t let the pictures scare you. It tasted like regular hummus to me. I’ve had my fair share of hummus, and I wouldn’t return to this place for it. It could compare to the store bought ones that Ive gotten before. The best part of my experience was the pita bread. It wasn’t hot and fresh out of the oven, but was definitely made that day. The bread was soft and tasted good. I honestly looked forward to trying this place and wanted to love both items, but it was difficult for me to lie to myself. I’m giving three stars because I only tried two small, side dishes from the entire menu, I would come back to try some main entrees. Pass on the spicy hummus and tabbouleh.

We’d gone in this restaurant a couple of times in the past and left without eating because we didn’t understand the menu options. This time we studied them on their website and decided on what we wanted before we got there. I’m leery of kabobs at first-time restaurants because they’re chunks of meat and if the meat is tough, well. .. So, we got the gyro. [begin aside]Why is gyro pronounced hero? I guess in Mediterranea G is pronounced H like in Spanish where J is pronounced H. So Jesus is Heysus. But in Mediterranea do they also screw with Y making it E?[end aside] You get two sides, so we got the spicy hummus and falafel. All in all there wasn’t much taste in any of it. You’d think something called spicy would be spicy — nope. The falafel was just as you expect, it’s falafel. But, even the meat was a disappointment. It was cooked right and was tender but, again, it was bland. Because nothing was bad here I’m rating them three stars but I probably won’t be back. Someday maybe I can visit Mediterranea and see if the Mediterraneans really eat this kind of food and pronounce letters funny. ___ We’ve Eaten Out Every Meal for more than 25 years
