Cute little coffee house and bakery located in downtown Weaverville. Their vegan chocolate chip cookies are fan-freakin’-tastic and don’t actually taste vegan. Spacious seating and free Wi-Fi makes it even better. I wasn’t a massive fan of their lunch selections but overall this place is great and our server Alex was lovely.

Only one down side… PARKING …but don’t let that deter you. Very friendly staff well laid out Café, great coffee… and the expresso cream cake was off the wall good and a BIG piece. 7 minutes off I-26 but we’ll well well worth the trip

I want to start by singing the praise of Well-Bred the caterer. They catered my daughter’s wedding on Saturday and it was lovely. The food was delicious and every guest to a person raved about it. I would like to stress that the guest list included children, teens, seniors and folks with specific dietary needs. Everyone felt that the food was perfect and no one was left out. The hors d’œuvre were special and the main course was abundant and thoroughly satisfying. The food was served buffet style and it was well presented and the staff kept it very fresh. The dishes were beautifully presented. Now let’s talk cake! She chose three cakes; pistachio, lemon cream and a strawberry. Each was wonderful but the pistachio just took everyone’s breath away. The staff was so warm and attentive and above all professional. They seemed ready for any contingency but mostly they seemed pleased to be there and that showed. My daughter said it couldn’t have been more perfect. PS We decided to get some lunch at the café before heading back to Chicago. My sandwich was great but Oh my! That kale salad! I know some people are offended by the dishes being sold by weight. There are a couple of reasons for this; consistent portion size and a way for people who want to monitor their diet to do so. I disagree with the«miserly» characterization.

Honestly I don’t think there’s anything here that isn’t delicious! The Swedish crème is amazing. I had it two visits in a row — simply could not help myself!!! Deli sandwiches, burritos and quiche are so good, so satisfying. And the rest of the bakery — wow! What I wouldn’t give to clone this bakery for back home — outstanding! Hoping to squeeze in one more visit before we head home in a few days. Yum!

I’ve enjoyed high-end pastries in NY, Paris, Vienna, London, etc. Comparing would be like comparing Dave Brubeck to Itzhak Perlman — pointless. Each artist is a master. Same for Well Bred. Their pastries are art.

Please Read 3.5 stars… Yep, this place is a-ok. They have an interesting assortment of yummy«sammiches» and other other assorted bites of melodious culinary harmonies and simply delectable sweets. Compared to other places in Weaverville this place would indeed rate 4– 4.5 stars, but there is some stiff and rather better done competition in Asheville. If you live in the area it is a great stop for yummynisses. You would however gain 20lbs a week if you ate there every day. I recommend The Well-Bred Bakery & Café as a worthy palace of food consumption.

Such a special place. The chocolate cake is the BEST ever, seriously. It’s so rich, you can nibble on it for days. Coconut cream cake, strawberry shortcake, and Swedish crème are also best we’ve had. Good sandwiches, but the kale salad… oh my. I don’t even like kale, but it’s wonderful. You must try it. Friendly staff, generous hours of operation, dog friendly outside.

One of the best bakeries in town. I love having a quick lunch, but deciding on dessert is tough for a fat lady. Great healthy choices.

Tons of delicious looking options inside a big beautiful glass showcase greet you when entering. I wanted to go with something truly unique, and hard to find… so I went with the Cheese Biscuit. :) It was delish! May add sausage next time. Can’t wait to come back and try some of the lunch offerings. Friendly staff. Reasonable prices. Cozy little café in beautiful Weaverville. Will return!

If you have a sweet tooth, this is the place to go! We have traveled all over and the baked goods in Well Bred Café are unique and exceptionally delicious! The flavor, texture, and size and of course the fine ingredients that are used all come to mind while writing this review. They have several amazing gluten-free and vegan selections and not just your standard macaroons, packages cookies and such. The customer service is excellent and they made us feel so welcome! I can’t wait to go back to try their other café selections and have more of these wonderful and indescribably delicious treats!

I’m just not a fan of a business in a small town that doesn’t give back. The atmosphere inside is very uninviting. Very pretentious. The food is bland, nothing has ever really stood out as great. I have tried it several times, and I’m just not a fan.

Excellent, quick service and delicious treats! Hubs and I stopped in for breakfast, but it had to be speedy so we could get to our ziplining expedition. This place is money. You won’t be disappointed!

We stumbled upon this gem while exploring the surrounding Asheville area and it was a pleasant surprise. The atmosphere is appealing and the staff, friendly. While the milk in my latte lacked texture and creaminess, the espresso was roasted well enough from local vendors. Was it my best latte in Asheville? No, but it was far from the worst. With our next trip to Asheville, this quaint establishment will surely be on our radar as their pastures and breakfast sandwiches were spot on.

Look. You’re practically required to like this place, so you should probably just cowboy up and go there and faun over it. This will require you to ignore the endless queue for the simplest request. The horrible coffee, typically flavored, like hazelnut cacao patchouli. The bizarre ritual of selling food by weight(do you want a quarter pound of tuna salad? Or 5 ounces?) The home made baked goods are OK. Everything is OK. It’s just not as WONDERFUL as everyone expects you to agree. Given a choice, I’ll go elsewhere. But everybody loves the place, so it will be suggested as a perfect places to get together. Any way, cowboy up.

Great food, great selection. Love that you can bring your pets, if you sit outside. Ordering is a bit chaotic if there is more than one person to be served. It seems the staff had rather keep working on their tasks and let someone else take the order. They have a number system when it gets crowded, but you don’t know who is going to call out the number and take the order. I suggest having a single cashier that can voice the order to the rest of the staff, instead of having to wait for someone to make eye contact with you. I also suggest having the dish collection area at the front, as well as the back. I had to fight through the crowd just to put my dishes away. If I have to clean my own table, it should be more convenient. I’ll definitely go back because the coffees and the food are awesome, but the logistics of it caused the drop of a star.

This is one place in Weaverville that I tend not to go to, because there’s places I like better, just a few doors down. The hands-down star on their menu is the Mountain Éclair. It’s a very worthwhile waste of calories, if you’re in a calorie wasting mood. Certainly the flavors are good, and it’s pretty freaking ginormous. If you eat one, plan on no further meals for the next 24 hours, or plan on splitting it 6 ways with your family. As for the Wifi-Parking-Coffee trifecta by which I judge all AVL area coffee shops, they do have serviceable wifi, but the parking situation is dicey, and coffee is not, strictly speaking, their forte.(See Mountain Éclair, above, regarding fortes) I guess there’s just enough things about Well Bred that I find sufficiently annoying that I don’t go there as much as I frequent other joints on main street. Their bread is fine, but it looks better than it tastes. They weigh out their salads on a scale, which is offputting, because really when you’re eating a salad what you’re looking for is abundance – not a strict accounting of grams and milligrams. Feels miserly to me. It’s a hugely popular coffee shop, with people coming in from neighboring towns to get their joe. The line has been running out the door for years. Unfortunately, that does add up to some noise, and some wait at the counter. The staff is super busy and they get a bit distracted at times, so there’s potential for even more waiting, even when you made it to the front of the line. That being said, the servers and coffee slingers are as kind and friendly as you’re likely to find anywhere. No complaints there. Overall, I like that it’s a local joint. I appreciate their ties to the community, but I feel like there’s so many other special and unique places right there in that 1-block patch of Weaverville real estate that I don’t see the need to frequent Well Bred.

This was a nice café recommended by our rafting guides. They have an array of different coffees, pastries, pasta salads, sandwiches, and other foods. The décor and vibe from the café is quaint, classy, and reminds me of being in someone’s home with the different types of furniture and tables. I didn’t eat much besides the crème brûlée and an espresso cake, both of which were tasty. I had a nice experience here and wouldn’t mind coming a second time when I’m back in the area. It seems like the perfect spot/stop for getting schoolwork done, meeting up with a group of friends, or just relaxing and enjoying some coffee and dessert.

I got chicken curry salad sandwich on a croissant with a side of kale salad and a slice of pumpkin roll(although they had a different name for the pumpkin roll). I have been here before and had excellent food, the chicken curry today was not my favorite choice as the croissant wasn’t as good as I hoped it would be. The pumpkin roll however was excellent and the cream and the pumpkin roll had a hint of ginger with it. The cream made it really interesting, I like the little zing. The shop itself is really adorable and there are a few tables outside for people with dogs.
