YAS, this was everything that I wanted. First trip, so I kept it at 4 stars until I come back to try the sushi. But since I just moved here and miss being warm, I got the coconut soup with chicken and a glass of white wine. Both were delicious, I love the spice of the Thai chili oil drizzled over top, especially when is catches you off guard and makes your eyes water a bit… ugh, I crave that feeing :) the chicken was nicely cooked too, a little under so it can finish with the broth’s heat… I appreciate that. Looks like there are some good lunch sushi specials so I’ll be back to try them out. and the wait staff seems accommodating and nice, I saw one guy teaching his table how to use chop sticks – which are made from some type of metal. another small detail that may go unnoticed but I loved it. Oh! And at lunch time you get a complimentary ginger salad. who doesn’t love that :) log story short, I’m excited that I have such a gem to come to in weaverville, I see it continuing to grow in the future. Update: sushi is amazing, and their presentation for their main entrees are gorgeous! Awesome food, I second visit and I’m in love :)

My girlfriend and I were in Asheville for 4 days and I thought this was one of the the best places we ate at. The service was fantastic and the food was amazing. I would definitely recommend this place.

Seven of us had dinner here. The space — formerly a savings & loan, I think — is pleasant, with indoor and outdoor seating, and all the waitstaff and other employees we encountered were VERY friendly. There’s plenty of parking beside and in back of the restaurant, along with some street parking on Main Street if there’s an overflow. Service was prompt — in fact, a little too prompt, as my main course was brought out at the same time as my appetizer. Most in the group seemed to enjoy their entrees, though the consensus was that the food was a little bland, so most poured on the Sriracha sauce. I had the fried calamari appetizer with a sweet chili sauce, which was okay though not memorable($ 7.50). The Pad Thai($ 9.50 with chicken) was very good, and it was a HUGE portion. I could only eat about half of it. In fact, all the entrees at our table were very large, and most people took home a go box. I don’t think anyone at our table had the sushi, which Soba is known for. Next time I’m in Weaverville I’ll probably try it. With an appetizer, entrée and two bottles of Chinese beer, my tab came to about $ 25 before tip. Soba serves beer and wine only. Bottom line: Friendly, pleasant and pretty good food, though I’m not sure I’d make a special trip to Weaverville for this Thai/Japanese/Chinese food.

Well this place had high points and LOW points. First with the positive, ordered the shrimp lomien and it was really good! Best I’ve had in Asheville area in face. Now the LOW. worst service ever. They brought my meal way before my friends. I finished my food before he got his. Not good. He only ordered 2 sushi rolls. Then one of his sushi rolls was great. The other complete mush. Then we waited 15 mins before anyone brought out check. We let the owner know of our terrible experience and she just said«so sorry. Very busy tonight» that was it. and there were open tables all around us, so I wasn’t completely sold on that excuse. I may try take out and see if its any better. Shame, lomien was great. Didn’t expect to leave this place 2 stars.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. The staff are all warm and welcoming, they remember your preferences and treat you like a guest in their home. The ginger honey tea, hot green tea, Japanese fried rice with tender slices of chicken are out of this world. The pad Thai is great, the General Tso’s is crispy and lightly sweet with just the lightest touch of spicy. My family has tried many of the menu options and we have never been disappointed. The only complaint I have is that I have such a hard time choosing what I want from all the delectable menu selections!

Awesome food. We ordered two rolls of sushi and two ramen noodle bowls. Both were delicious and the sushi was better than most. Very fresh.

Who would have thought that such a great restaurant would be tucked away in a small town, in the mountains of North Carolina? It’s a small place, you may have to wait a free minutes but it’s worth it. The food is fabulous. My son said sushi is one of the best he’s ever had. The staff was very accommodating and attentive. If you’re anywhere near Weaverville, stop in. You won’t regret it.

I’m from Los Angeles and I’m here in Weaverville visiting a friend. I’ve been here before and I’ve eaten in quite a few places. While every restaurant has its own charm and its mediocre to good food, there is nothing better than the delicious food at Soba. My favorite is their red curry chicken which is amazing and it is in a curry soup base so it’s like you get 2 dishes in one. You have to try their ginger honey tea. It has real ginger, honey and Gogi berries. It is so darn good! I am salivating as I write this! I am going to try to make this at home because we don’t have this restaurant in L.A. This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Weaverville. This is a must stop destination if you are in town. Don’t miss it. I promise you won’t regret it! Oh, and before I forget, the owner We-Chang who goes by Gina, is super customer oriented as is her staff, so you can expect great service as well.

I liked the sushi. Not so much rice for the quantity of filling. The miso soup was pretty good too, and the service excellent.

We love SOBA. We are always delighted by the attention to detail and love that goes into the food that the chefs make for us. The prices are reasonable and the outdoor patio is a great place to enjoy sushi and noodles. The owners and staff are friendly and always ask us where we have been if we do not visit for a while. SOBA is one of the best places to eat in Weaverville.

I have been to this establishment a few times and it is a hit or miss. The Pad Thai is always a safe bet, and is good for the price an quantity. Sushi is extremely overpriced $ 2.75 for One piece of sushi. The rice wasn’t very good, and sushi roll was poorly wrapped. Still if you’re in Weaverville there is no other place so this place will do.

I make sure to visit Soba every time we come to Weaverville and I am never disappointed. Their Pad Thai is delicious, and my son loves the kid’s meal of chicken nuggets and rice. But the best meal(and the best deal) in the place is the lunchtime sushi deal for two or three rolls. It’s a great deal for the price and I always end up with more than I can eat in one sitting.

I eat sushi all the time and this is the best place to eat sushi by far. Friendly service, fresh food, and great atmosphere. I recommend this to everyone.

My husband loves sushi, and I don’t! What’s a married couple to do?! Eat at Soba! He gets his fill of many different kinds of sushi, while I usually stick with Wok Lo Mein with chicken. Always good; very consistent. When we’ve dined in, it’s usually a little quiet(we’re early diners!), but it’s nice, and the servers are attentive. Now, we’ve gotten to where we’ll just pick it up on our way home, and that works great! No complaints, but only four stars because it’s not the best Asian food we’ve ever had.

Great service & food came out fast. We had: green tea, ginger tea, green salad, seaweed salad, miso soup, ramen with shrimp, calamari and Japanese fried rice with tofu and would recommend each dish. The server warned us that others were not happy with chicken or beef dishes so you may want to stay away from those. Otherwise, YUM!

What a surprise!!! I heard about this from a couple of friends co we decided to give it a try — glad we did! Very nice place — quiet, clean, great service from a very good staff. We started with the Spicy Tuna and Spicy Salmon rolls — very good. Entrees were the Pad Thai with Chicken and Wok Lo Mein with Chicken, both were excellent and the portions so large we had them again for lunch the next day! We enjoyed a couple of ice cold Kirin beers with the meal — did not try the bar service. Great experience, we will be back!

Very nice converted bank. A little concerned when the menu has sushi, Vietnamese, Thai, and Chinese. I started with a spicy tuna roll and it was quite good. My wife had the Pad Thai. It also was quite good, a generous portion with plenty of chicken for $ 8. I has the Thai coconut soup with chicken. It was again a large portion with lots of chicken for $ 8. However, it was very bland and has no fish sauce or lemon grass that I could detect. I asked if they had any fish sauce and maybe some chilies for heat. He said they didn’t, but brought me some hot sauce on the side. Who ever heard of a place that cooks Thai and doesn’t have fish sauce? I added the hot sauce, my wife’s lime and some soy sauce since that was all I had. If you stick to the sushi and the Pad Thai, you will be happier. I would have gone with 2 – 3 stars if I had just the coconut soup.
