Regrettably, Stone Soup is closing at the end of 2014. The book business isn’t what it used to be, and the café and other initiatives just weren’t enough to make up the difference. Its closing is a real loss to the community.

A HIdden Treasure! We were visitors to Waynesboro and were looking for a cute place to have some tea and this was the perfect place. They have seating outside, a great selection of books to look at, read, and buy! The staff was extremely friendly and trusting of their customers. Their food looked good but didn’t try any. DEFINITELY a place to revisit!

Stopped in here on our way up to drive the blue ridge parkway. It happened to be right before they were closing, which they were really polite about. They still made us sandwiches for our trip and were super nice. The sandwiches were great but a little bit pricey. I wish I had an afternoon to browse their books because they seemed to have a good collection.

I had their soup & a very tasty melted cheese sandwich. I loved the sandwich, which was a thick slice of melted cheese & cucumber on very qood toasted bread & with a nicely herbed butter, if I remember correctly. The kind of sammich you savor! The soup was home-made & with fresh local veggies, but fell a little bit shy of wonderful. The parking lot is pretty non-existent which makes it a challenge to get to, but the book store & staff are nice & friendly. I definitely want to go back.

We like to come here when we are in town. It’s a great place for lunch.

The meals are consistently delicious. The majority of the produce and meats are locally sourced and they have an extremely friendly staff.

This was an interesting little spot for lunch recommended to us by our waitress at Veritas Winery. It’s tucked away and was not the easiest place to find, but was a fun experience. It is a pretty small deli, with a decent size local book store attached to it. They had a lot of outdoor seating, but it was extremely hot that day. It is a cozy little place with some interesting variations on traditional soups, salads and sandwiches. The staff were very friendly and quick to answer all of our questions and fulfill our strange request for splitting a small lunch(we just need a quick bite before dinner). I would recommend this place if you are looking to meet some of the locals and try some different sandwiches while perusing their book selection. I believe that have live folk music at times as well.

Stone Soup Books is a new and used bookstore in downtown Waynesboro. It has a fun selection of books, and is great for browsing and picking up gifts. There is also a restaurant(and butterfly garden) in the back of this old house; the restaurant is a great lunch spot. They have freshly made soups, sandwiches, and salads, as well as desserts that change by the day. My recommendation is to get ½ cup of the soup de jour and ½ sandwich(pear, honey, and brie is especially good) to sample a little of each!
