Why would I write a review for a grocery store? Because this one in Preakness is THE WORST I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. The produce is straight garbage. The lines are always down to two registers. «Managers» in the front, specifically the guy who’s always wearing the striped hoodie, are INCREDIBLY lazy. Stop flirting with the young cashiers and do your JOB. Please tear this dirty, old, rundown hole down.

This store is very clean and sells excellent produce. But their prices are a little high and they don’t properly stock sale items.

Love this place.
1) They always have items on sale.
2) Love their Indian/​ethnic frozen foods selection.
3) The store is always clean and neat.

Stop and Shop had a nice wide variety of fresh food and it is convenient to my work. However, why I am writing is because a lady named Tamara, who is a credit to herself and her company. As well as being totally «corporately» groomed and above the average worker, she interrupted her lunch which she was enjoying outside, to come in and help me with my handicapped scooter, when she noticed I was having difficulties. She acted quickly, fixed the problem and politely went back to her lunch. I was so impressed, I had to let you know. Tamara has potential!!! She is the type that will succeed wherever she works.

This is the top store I do my grocery shopping at! Place is clean and very well organized. Some people say that the prices are a bit higher than shop rite or a few others. But mind you the quality that the pennies more you pay is well worth it produce is always fresh and abundant. Beer have a problem finding what I want. Variety is very good ! That’s a big plus for me. Small cheese and specialty item area which is nice. Seafood department is not bad. Basic selections you would expect at your grocery store. Few items have marinade, salmon stuffed with lump crab meat. Etc. Large selection of chicken and other meats. Plenty of options. Family Packs, All natural, organic etc. Everybosy is able to find something they like. I do notice as well here that the freshness is better than other places I have been. They always have something enticing! I don’t just throw this steak in or that cut for the sake of saying I’m having red meat. Everything else is found quite easily in the well organized store. Try the scan your own ! Scan and bags your groceries as you should. Wow does it save me a lot of time. Shop here stress free !

How can one supermarket be so great? Three words… self scan it!
Self scan it is this electronic handheld device that allows you to scan your items as you shop to make for a faster check out process. And since you scan as you go, you can also bag your items at the same time.
I love the scan it because it allows you to keep tabs on your spending as you shop so there won’t by any surprises at checkout. The scan it also gives you coupons for items that are only for scan it users. The coupon comes off automatically when you scan the item.
Now some people may think, that when you use the scan it, you can’t do the self-​checkout then. Wrong! You can do self checkout or regular checkout with or without using a scan it. At every register, there is a self scan it barcode. If you are using the self scan, at the end, you scan the barcode and then your Stop & Shop card. Your order will then come up on the screen (plus any tax that needs to be added). You can then scan any additional items you may have or any coupons.
I hate going to any other supermarket now since Stop & Shop is the only supermarket with the self scan its.

I come to Stop & Shop more then any other grocery store. The store is emasculate, even on the busiest days it’s super clean and neat. The produce is always in tip top shape. I never seldom come across welted greens or bruised fruit. The Deli carries the best brands for deli meat and will make sandwiches for you like a real deli. The meat department carries a decent variety of meats, a couple times I’ve seen duck beast.
Out of all the major grocery stores Stop & Shop uses innovate technology to make the shopping experience easier. If you don’t want to wait on line at the deli there is an touch screen to place your order and an automated system will notify you via text and/​or intercom system when you order is ready for pick up. They have a system called «Scan it» which lets customers use a scan gun to scan their items which gives you a running total (before tax) of shopping and makes check out easier and quicker. Just recently they added «Scan it» for smart phones, which I have used a few times on busy days when there isn’t any scan guns.
On top of all this great stuff they have a Dunkin Donuts as soon as you walk in and the shopping carts even have a cup holder for you coffee.

I Like the organic and gluten free foods. The store is updated and staff is always friendly! Still can be the more expensive food store but worth the trip.

this stop & shop is good. mainly because they carry a decent amount of organic produce (compared to other regular supermarkets) and they have many amy’s frozen dinners stocked. the strange thing is, they are stocked near the pharmacy and not with the regular frozen dinners so the first time i looked for them i thought they didn’t carry them til i saw them in the very last aisle of the store. i found the rest of the store experience good. also there’s a dunkin donuts which has good coffee and of course, donuts, if you like that kind of thing.
