It’s well kept and decorated, but that’s about it. Our food was decent, but lacked real quality. Compared to other hibachi grill restaurants, the prices were raised extremely high and the portions we received on our plates were small. The salads that arrived with our meal were runny and it was obvious that they had been kept in a freezer. Our waitress, while kind, was slow and extremely difficult to hear. The option to choose between steamed and fried rice is nice, but most restaurants don’t make you pay extra for choosing fried rice. Overall, despite Osuba’s nice interior, it was the poorest quality hibachi restaurant I have ever been to.

Visiting from out of town and we were in search of some good food in this small town, tried out Osuba and we were pleasantly surprised. The sushi was SOGOOD! We also ended up doing the Hibachi dinner table too. Hugo our chef was so much fun and the steak was cooked perfectly. Our waitress was Allesia and she was probably the best waitress I’ve ever seen/had! Super efficient and friendly, we were never short on refills and she was so quick and accommodating with all of our requests, it really allowed us to enjoy the whole experience there!

I have never had a bad experience with Osuba and have seen them working with the fish fresh from Hawaii send overnight. I always sit at the bar that is the best way to experience the sushi experience and trust the chef he is creative and fun. I just wish I never got full because the flavors are so great.

The food is the saving grace of this restaurant. The service is not professional. Why would 4 hostesses need to be on duty? Only 2 would do anything, the other just stood around. Another time, one of the hostesses brought her kid to work and he was all over the front area. The wait staff doesn’t seem to know when to bring out the food. One time half our meals were delivered 10 minutes before other items. Another time the waitress brought our table someone else’s order! The patrons are always loud, no matter where you sit. Maybe I’m spoiled because I usually dine in Dallas and expect better, more professional service.

I ABSOLUTELYLOVETHISPLACE! My fiancé and I go here for date night at least once a week. I love the Tropical Tease mixed drinks. Drink specials and sushi roll specials 5−7p.m on weeknights! My only complaint I have here is not with the dining, it is with the TO-GO orders. I work in Lancaster, TX but live in Waxahachie so I crave this place LOL and have my co-workers now getting TO-GO orders. The hostess was rude(why she did not get tipped) when I called to place the order and picking it up. Her name was Brittany. Then my co-workers order, the shrimp hibachi lunch had no shrimp! But since the manager was nice and gave my co-worker her shrimp as well as a free chicken hibachi lunch, they will keep my 5 stars. Everyone is human and can make a mistake, but it is how they handle it.

We have been back here several times since our initial visit and, though I haven’t ordered sushi again, I LOVE their Hibachi! The Hibachi Shrimp is my favorite! I also enjoy the Teriyaki Steak. Large portions and the fried rice is absolutely amazing! Service is always good. I’ve had the same Hibachi guy almost every time I’ve gone so the only suggestion I have is just some fresh routines! But we go mostly for the food, not the performance.

This is a decent Japanese restaurant in a small Texas town where not much is going on. I’m from a metropolitan area and have been visiting this area couple times per year, so I have been to most of the restaurants already. Osuba has a pretty extensive menu and good selection of sushi, but the sake choice is somewhat limited. The freshness of the sashimi is not bad, and the udon soup is my favorite. The hibachi however, is somewhat disappointed. The interior is modernly decorated and I would recommend for a nice dinner with your friends if you like the taste of Japan. Enjoy!

The rainbow roll was delicious as was an old favorite of mine the yellow tail. Tempura veggies were great too. Nice modern décor. Great service and staff! 606 N Highway 67 Midlothian, TX76065‑5009 United States

Great Sushi — and unbelievable Spicey Edamame! I didn’t try their Hibashi grill area yet. Good menu of Sushi rolls, Sashimi, Appetizers, and Specials. They also hv a section of the Menu ‘Dinner from the Kitchen” which includes Salmon, NY Steak, Jumbo Garlic Shrimp, Choices for the uninformed who are new to Sushi! Also have Noodle Udon Soups. Its several large rooms, Including the Hibachi room where the chefs make decadent dishes if your choice in front of you! Alot of families were in there and some wth kids. The ambiance is Not quaint but you can have a conversation and people nearby will no hear. Echoey is the word. Good food and ok atmosphere. Good choices of alcohol bevs and also has a nice bar to watch games on TV or chat and relax.

For this neck of the woods, this place is good. You can choose to sit at the hibachi grills or the sushi side of the house. Or the sushi bar! The rolls are creative and numerous. The udon noodles were delicious. The hibachi looked entertaining. Service was stellar and the hostesses could tell me about the specials as we waited(briefly). My two cons — my kids yakitori chicken was not cooked properly and had to be sent back as raw in the middle. they immediately apologized, re-fired it and took it off the bill! Lastly, the mochi was hit or miss, which made me think it was probably home made? The coating of the mochi should be gelatinous and instead it was very flour-y and dry(except the strawberry mochi, which was perfect). well priced menu

A walk through of our meal… First we come in. Party of four, two of us were present and the other two were right behind us. The hostess asks us to wait on the rest of our party to sit at the hibachi. Ok no big deal, understandable. The other two get there and she sits us at a grill. We are looking over our menus when she comes back over and asks us to go back to the front because they had already cleaned that grill for the night and it wouldn’t be used again. There was over an hour before closing. We told her we would sit right where we were until she prepared another table for us. We finally are set at the right place, and they start stacking chairs all around us. Still 45 minutes left before closing. The waitress helping us had short arms, and was reaching over the grill, which I understand, however, I would much rather her not toss everything to us like we were supposed to catch it. We asked the waitress if brown rice was an option. She said yes, but only the fried rice is brown. This didn’t seem right, but we trusted her anyway. When the chef brought out the rice, guess what! It was white. And he cooked it until it was brown… Not brown rice. On the upside, our chef was hilarious, and awesome to boot! He lit his fingers on fire as part of a trick(without hurting himself!) And the sushi was pretty good. I will say their rolls are unique. Even the rolls that are normally universal were different that usual. The hibachi was by far the best part. The chef was funny. Well worth the trip to watch and eat that part, despite the failure by the host and the waitress. There was a two star review coming, but the chef saved the day for this one. And the food all tasted good. I wish they weren’t so unprofessional about their closing. If they want to walk out at 11, they should close at 9. They turned the lights out everywhere except our section and had chairs stacked on the tables everywhere when we were finishing up. We were done and had our bill paid 10 min before closing. It is terrible to be closing everything down while customers are still eating.

We just moved to Waxahachie and we’re pretty much convinced that our closest decent sushi option would be at least 20 miles away. So, we were shocked to find a place that serves high quality sashimi, sushi, and serviceable teppanyaki less than a mile from the house. We’ve become regulars and are always pleasantly surprised to find fresh fish and shellfish. I had the fresh scallop sashimi last night and a premium cold saki for a meal that rivaled some of the best I’ve had in the eight years that I lived in downtown and Oak Cliff. Highly recommended.

A fair Hibachi experience though the prices are a bit outrageous when directly compared to competitors within twenty miles. The flavors were being«spot-on» and what you have come to expect. All-in-all a very decent meal in Waxahachie.

I live in ellis county, and was excited for the competition of our two new sushi restaurants.(Toshios & this place). Unfortunately I started my meal off partial to toshios because I ate it when it was in Duncanville, and loved it. But they were closed so I rolled on over to try the competition. I sat down at the sushi bar and ordered a miso soup, water, and volcano roll. Miso soup came about ten minutes later, with all of three pieces of tofu squares inside. And it was essentially flavorless, I found myself pouring any and everything within my reach into it to try to make something catch my tastes buds attention. Didn’t work. I thought to myself no biggie, it’s just miso. I also informed her I was planning on ordering more sushi. Moving on, my volcano roll arrived and it no shit looked like a pile of crunch, with some white rice underneath. I quickly sorted through the mess on top to find scallops, onions, and mushrooms. Remind next time to check the menu for what uncommon ingredients are featured on a very common special roll. I had one piece and said no way I’m wasting 10 bones on this mess in front of me. The waitress returned to get the second half of my order(finally) and I told her I ate one roll and didn’t like this roll, if I could switch it out? She took the matter to her manager who said she could comp 50 percent of the price because I ate half I said no let me talk to her cause I had one roll, and she can charge me for that. I spent three minutes debating that one it’s nasty, two I only hate a single roll, and three asking her why I even had to debate that its not good? She finally said she would remove it, which is good cause I would’ve walked out. So I said please bring me a philly roll, and a sexy roll. I only ordered the sexy roll because of the Unilocal pictures it looked safe. Everything was decent throughout the next two rolls except the rice on the philly was mush. Some parts looked like oatmeal when you put in the microwave for too long. All and all wasn’t bad sushi just got a bad roll. Everyone’s got them I just had to defend myself in the court of sushi manager advocating why I shouldn’t have to buy 50 percent of this crap. Advice: Keep it simple here, always look at ingredients on even the most generic sounding rolls, and mostly just drive your ass to toshios. Please…

I’m a regular at Osuba. I’ve never been less than completely impressed. The sushi is always fresh and always amazing! The combo fried rice is the best I’ve had anywhere! The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Will suggest Osuba to everyone!

Well… Crap…umm I want to eat NOWHERE where I am others dirty dishes for over an entire hour… and all employees are eating at the bar watching soccer not cleaning their tables. McDonalds is cleaner than this place. If I was a critic for the food u get a zero and cleanliness… well negative 25. Slop for sushi. I will never set food in this disgusting establishment again. I spoke with the owner as he arrived while we were leaving and explained how being in the service industry for over 15 years this isn’t acceptable. I thought he should know the waitress explained since they were not opening again till five is when they would do their cleaning up rt before they reopened… WHAT??? What if I had been the critic… well that’s about enough for me. I will not be going back.– at Osuba Hibachi Sushi and Bar. #NEVERAGAIN!

Solid three stars. We set a reservation for seven, on the sushi side of the resturant, for 8:15 Saturday evening. The first to arrive were told they had to wait to be seated with the entire group. A wait of five more minutes brought us up to the counter seven people strong. When repeating our request to be seated at our reserved table, the hostess informs us that they do not do reservatiosn and that there is a forty minute wait for the sushi side. We are told of an opening on the hibachi side, yes can order sushi by the grill, and we are shown to our table. A young girl brings us our menus and(a manager?) a man steps up to apologize for the wait for a table on the sushi side. Explaining that we are fine ordering sushi at the hibachi station, the young girl rolls her eyes and starts picking up our menus — They said we need to be on the other side of no one is ordering a hibachi meal! Well DUH. Hints the reservation for the sushi side! With the promise of only a fifteen minute wait for a table, and the group still wanting sushi, we stand outside in the pleasant breeze. The gentleman from before steps back out, tells us there are not any tables on the sushi side — and sits us right back down at the same hibachi station! I ordered pan fried dumplings, enjoyed the jalapeño poppers, and a cup of miso soup before my Lion King roll was brought out. All of the dishes were very flavorful and fresh, and everyone switched pieces of their rolls around the table, making the dinner portion of our experience a good one.

When I think of hibachi and sushi, Waxahachie is probably the last city I would think of. With the influx of new residents to the area in the last few years, it was high time a place like this was established. I mean, the local Chinese buffet can only go so far. We decided to take my mom out for Mother’s Day, probably one of the busiest days for any restaurant. Wait time for a hibachi table was 45 mins but only 5 mins for a regular table. We were starving so we opted for the latter. We started out with the edamame, house salad and onion soup, all of which were very good. We then ordered some California, Las Vegas and Cajun rolls. Very scrumptious. Not too much rice, plenty of filling, lots of flavor. My wife and I ordered the steak and chicken hibachi plate with fried rice while my mom opted for the Garlic Shrimp plate. Chicken and steak were cooked perfectly and the veggies(zucchini, carrots, onions) were spot on. My mom said the shrimp were cooked nicely and had the right amount of garlic. To say we were all full and content is an understatement. We ended up taking home 3 to-go boxes with leftovers which were eaten for dinner the next day. The service was great as the waiter accomodated any requests, no matter how small. We definitely want to visit again and get their whole hibachi experience. But for now, it was definitely a good impression and we plan on going again very soon.
