I am giving this restaurant a five-star rating because that is, in the words of Unilocal,«as good as it gets». Giovanni’s. Wow. I would like to begin with the food, because I am sure that many people reading this will be primarily concerned about the quality of such in comparison to the price, portion size, etc. In short: the pizza is delicious. There are many options available ranging from multiple types of meats to vegetarian. During my first visit, my family ordered a cheese and pepperoni; something so classic that it is easy to be particular about. Nonetheless, it was good. Better than good in fact — great. But I would like to divert a bit from the pizza and, for a moment, talk about what really captivated me at this particular restaurant location, which was the superb customer service. My dad and I flew in from Phoenix for several days to visit with family. We therefore had no previous familiarity with Giovanni’s. We experienced this restaurant with my cousin, who is severely autistic. He is high-energy, and a total sweetheart to everyone who meets him. Giovanni’s is his favorite place to eat. His face lights up at the mention of it. So we took him and his parents out to dinner one night and what happened there has left me irrevocably speechless and moved, even a week later and again halfway across the country. As we first entered, we were directed to a booth where my cousin sat on the inside. It was comfortable for him and for all of us. He orders his sodas diluted with water, and the server happily complied(even refill after refill). She even turned off the music since my cousin’s hearing is so sensitive. After an incredible meal including french fries and many laughs, our table was a little messy. My dad and uncle went to go wipe off the surface and put everything back where it was. The server sincerely told us to not worry about it, that it was no problem for her to take care of it for us. She was genuine, and was not the least bit inconvenienced by us. We thanked her profusely as she held the door and we walked back to our cars. It was about half an hour past closing time on a weekday. And she was just very happy to have seen my family again, and to have served us. The entire experience was comfortable, warm, and welcoming. I enjoyed it so much that I convinced my grandparents to go eat at the Lucasville location the following evening. There is no comparable service here in AZ. Giovanni’s takes care of their customers, because they are more than that to them. They are family. Thank you Giovanni’s and staff at Waverly. You all truly help facilitate a difference and implement positivity to those you serve. It was honestly unlike anything I had seen before in the restaurant industry. I will be telling this story for many years to come.

Over the past several years I have ate at Giovanni’s many times. When they moved to the current location I noticed a decline in quality. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice but that’s about where it ends. The pizza crust has little structure, the pasta has a slightly odd flavor, the meatballs are obviously frozen supermarket types, the sweet tea is from Pepsi co. The Giovanni’s in Piketon is not bad. If you absolutely want to eat Giovanni’s its worth driving an extra 10 minutes to go into Piketon. However, just go to Cardo’s.
