This is a review of Pitch’s Baby Grand, which has replaced the Mexican restaurant. As of now, the restaurant has been open only a short time; apparently in the three months since Guadalupe closed, they couldn’t be bothered to change the sign or the interior; the waitress had to tell us it was no longer Mexican. And for 6PM on a Saturday, the place wasn’t even a quarter full, which didn’t bode well. The menu is pathetically short, and expensive; all the appetizers were $ 8.95 or more, and besides sandwiches, there was only one item under $ 15. Though honestly, the appetizers were excellent in comparison to the meal. Chicken Marsala tasted like they boiled the wine by itself, no spices or other flavours, and the mushrooms had no flavour. For $ 18.95 you only got two breasts and a side; my choice, a small bowl of mashed potatoes, was sparingly covered in salty gravy. Beef spedini was overcooked and reheated, coming out just warm. We postulated that the main entrees were likely cooked at one of the other Pitch’s, then reheated, since that’s exactly what they had the texture and quality of: reheated food. For an $ 80 meal, that’s terrible, and it’s one of the worst we’ve ever had. Not a good experience at all, frankly. If they maintain this quality, I predict they’ll be out of business soon.

The restaurant is permanently closed, and the sign says it will be re-opening as a bar sometime in the future. I wasn’t able to try it even though I wanted to. In case you are wondering about the rating, Unilocal made me rate it in order to post this.

Came here for lunch. Service was very quick, prices very good(~$ 6.75 for a generous combo plate — I ordered the enchilada/chimichanga combo), but food seemed kind of soggy and bland. As a point of reference, I ate at Botanas in Walker’s Point earlier in the week and the food there overall seemed fresher and higher quality(though correspondingly higher prices). Unfortunately one member of our party reported having some digestive upset following his visit. In addition, had an unpleasant exchange(guised as a «compliment» on Unilocal) from one of the restaurant’s owners after commenting on our experience.

Surprisingly good Mexican food. This has been our staple Mexican restaurant over the past few years and it never disappoints. The chips and salsa are great. The margaritas are tasty. And the rest of the menu is terrific. Try it out!

Fresh home made flour tortilla! Great salsa! Wish they had lunch menu for the weekend also. The menu looked fabulous but we were in a rush. Would love to go back to try more. Everyone was happy with their selections!

Upgrade! My husband and I have been regulars at ‘Lupe now for quite some time. The mix-ups with the chips seems to have been resolved — no issues since the last one. We have had nothing but good service and good food since. ‘Lupe is a wonderful, locally owned restaurant that we enjoy going to on a regular basis. I always get the #22 — it’s a lot of food and always delicious. Their green sauce is the best!

This place is starting to be one of my new favorites. We have been there twice and enjoyed it very much. The food tastes very fresh and the rice and beans are delicious. Very welcoming to my family with three small children. I hope to see them stay around and improve.

I am searching for the best Mexican in the neighborhood! Guadalupe has been open about 3 weeks. Margaritas were OK. Chips were hot but a bit greasy served with mild & hot salsa that was fresh. The combo plate(tostada, enchilada, taco, rice, & beans) for $ 9.95 was tasty but could be of bigger portion for the price. My search continues…
