This location has more than one manager. One of the managers here — Eugene is no good, he doesn’t speak to customers well whether in person or over the phone. However another manager– Freddy, is awesome! You know those new spicy wings that they have? Well some of my wings were raw. When I called in about this Eugene told me if and only if I save the food order, & receipt my food could be replaced. I found it odd that he would want me to save the food being that I work 24 hour shifts 4 days straight! But I brought the food in 4 days later. Freddy was present the day I brought in those 4 day old raw wings, he stated that my bringing in the food was unnecessary & he would have not have asked a customer to do that. He was polite and cheerful, and gave me a new, fresh order of spicy wings as well as a free drink, wing, and biscuit. While waiting for my order a homeless man was trying to buy something to eat with the very little money that he had. I told Freddy that I’d pay for the man’s meal, but Freddy assisted the man himself giving him a complete meal. Freddy gets 5 stars! He is always great, customer’s need to be more respectful of him as I’ve witnessed him being disrespected & talked about. Freddy does a good job running his shift and employees! However I still only give Popeye’s 3 stars due to food mess ups, providing wrong change, and there is always, always a long wait! Yet my food has been raw, warm, or simply just having a basic taste.

BAD, BAD, BAD. I ordered the hushpuppy/shrimp special with fries. I got: shrimp, cajun rice, and NOT A SINGLE hushpuppy. And I had to wait for it to boot. You would have to forcibly drag me back to this place. Never again…

These people never learn. After being open for such a long time the horrible horrible service never changes. Rude employees, long wait, wrong orders. I drive to the the one all the way in north chicago even though it takes me 20 minutes longer to get there. Do not come here unless you have a gun to your head. Disgusting.

This particular location deserves negative stars. Do not go to this location otherwise you will wait a long long time. I was waiting in the drive thru for over 20 minutes and then placed my order. When I got to the window to pay the employee was ignorant enough to tell me I didn’t order. What? Why would I wait for over 20 mins via drive thru if I didn’t place an order. Then she proceeded to then ignore my comment and ask what my order was. I gave my order and she tells me it will be another 10 minutes. Complete waste of time. I then proceeded to North Chicago location by greenbay rd and got my order in 2 mins. If you have lots of time to waste, then get your chicken from this location.

The only good time to go to this Popeyes location is during the day. After about 5:00 pm or so, the service is horrible. I guess the manager leaves at that time. The employees are rude, they will refuse to prepare certain items on the menu, and they carry on personal conversations with each other instead of staying professional and helping customers. I take the drive to North Chicago because I know the employees there are not too lazy to prepare chicken tenders for me.

I wish I could give 0 stars. this place is by far the worst«restaurant» you could ever go to. The service is the worst. The workers are rude and they are the slowest ever. I haven’t been to that location in years because the last time I waited 30 min for a chicken strip combo and when she came out I was told that it’ll be another 5 min wait so I just asked for my money back. They are always out of sides or chicken which is ridiculous seeing as they are a chicken and sides place. Even during the slow hours. Do yourself a favor and save yourself a headache, and don’t bother going there.

If you’re looking for Popeye’s Chicken in the Waukegan area, do yourself a huge favor and do NOT support Waukegan’s Popeye’s. Drive an extra 15 minutes out of your way and go to the North Chicago Popeye’s. They are much better. I never write reviews, but I felt compelled this time around. Every time I’ve been to this establishment, they’ve always been notoriously slow, have gotten the order wrong, and frankly, do not care. The owners of this franchise invested a ton of money in remodeling this establishment, so I figured, let’s give them another shot to win me over, because I love supporting local businesses if and when possible. But a poorly run business is a poorly run business. The DNA of this particular store has not changed. If you’ve got 45 minutes to kill, want to stand in line among numerous patrons(drive thru included) who are being ignored by the staff, want to hear the employees bickering in public, and of course, to add insult to injury, get the order wrong, then this is the place for you. Not to mention, none of the employees were wearing their hats to keep the hair out of the food — I assume to be one of numerous health-code violations. The owners of this establishment must not care about the success of their business. In my opinion, their franchise should be revoked from them. Popeye’s Corporate should care. Contrast this to a very pleasant experience I had at the North Chicago Popeye’s. After waiting for 25 long minutes in line in Waukegan, hearing patrons come in and say their orders were wrong, food was overcooked, etc., I was then told they ran out of mac & cheese. I asked for a refund and drove straight to North Chicago to satisfy our hankering for Popeye’s. The location in North Chicago was clean, well lit, and there was no backlog of people. Yes, there were patrons, but they were being handled swiftly. The staff was friendly, all properly uniformed, and efficient. I received my order — in a matter of minutes — and it was correct!!! And tasty. This review is the story of good and bad, The North Chicago location isn’t just good by comparison, it’s actually very good. Possibly different owners and management? Conversely, if I could give the Waukegan Popeye’s less then 1 star, I would.

Let me start by saying, I have been a member of management for a restaurant establishment that was new to having a drive thru. I personally trained every employee at both drive thru locations and assisted corporate with the creation of the training manual for all future drive thru locations. With that being said, I know what it takes to run a drive thru, and the service at this location is ABSOLUTELYUNACCEPTABLE. I waited at the speaker for 10minutes before my order was taken, no apology for the wait. I waited another 20 to get my food, the greeting? «$ 6.78» like I’m the one with the problem. Those were the only words said to me. I checked my order because last time they got it wrong and a nice young lady thanked me for being so nice about it. That young lady must be off today. Anyway, they give me my food and walk away, I’m sitting there for another 5 minutes before a different gentleman who had been staring at me from inside, finally came to the window just looking, never said a word. I asked for honey, he walked away finished drying his hands and having a conversation, grabs a handful of honey gives it to me and walks away. Are you kidding me? All of them should be fired immediately except for the one young lady who seemed quite embarrassed by the lack of customer service I received the first time I came. I will personally make sure that the owner of this location is aware of the nonsense, foolery and unprofessionalism going on at their establishment. By the way, I gave it one star because I have to in order to post this review.

So when you go to a Popeyes at 7PM on a weekend, you kind of expect them to, you know, NOT be out of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, biscuits red beans and rice, and dirty rice. Seriously, they only had french fries! And then you remember… You’re in Waukegan. So expect that box of 8 pieces of chicken to take about 30 minutes, and when you asked for Spicy? You’re going to get Mild. Oh! And when you ordered and paid for 8 pieces? You’re going to get 7. They’re rude, and lazy, and slow. The whole staff should be fired and they should start from scratch again. This place is pathetic. Next time, I’m going to the grocery store, and I’m making my own fried chicken. Or you know, better yet, I’ll just go to Super Fresh down the street and get 8 pieces for $ 8.99.

First of all I agree with Syretta H and Blair F’s reviews. I wish I could give this place a –5 stars! All I have to say is SLOW Service! They give the word slow a bad name. I have been to this place off and on for 5 years. I stop going because of the bad service. I decided to give it another chance so I went in last Saturday on 9÷24÷2011 to get(6 biscuits) Let me repeat that. 6 Bissquits! It took 20 minutes! People were complaining in the drive thru, and at the register. I see nothing has changed! Not sure why Popeyes Chicken Corp would allow a franchise to represent them in such a terribly unprofessional manner! My guess is because this location is in a urban area. Popeyes obviously doesn’t care about this location. That is so wrong, if that’s the case. The manager should be fired! Beware of this location unless you have 30 minutes to spare!

I don’t eat Popeye’s on the regular since I don’t want vats of grease flowing through my bloodstream– but every now and then I do get a craving for it. This is one is about 20 minutes away from where I live and I swear they are the slowest fast food food drive thru that I have ever been in, in my life! Now maybe it’s just me, but I thought that most companies with drive thru windows thrive on being able to be fast and sufficient with the order… there is a certain amount of time that each customer is supposed to spend at the window… well if you want it fast, do not ever go to this Popeye’s…they cannot multi task. They take your order then, you have to wait another 5 minutes to give them your money through the bullet proof window thingy… then as I watch about 5 people scramble around the place, it takes at least another 5 – 7 minutes to get a 4 piece meal with a biscuit! Last week, I went back for the first time in years for this very reason. All that visit did was remind why I don’t go there, and it will be many years before I go back!!!
