For the one non-recommended that’s here so far, I can vouch for them and I call B.S. on the management’s reply to it. I lived at Cinnamon Lake Towers almost 7 years ago and I ended up breaking my lease after only 5 months. I can’t imagine what the rent is now, but I was paying $ 550 a month for a studio. When I first came to look at apartments, the property managers were very kind and eager to get me into an apartment. I only came during the day and didn’t get to see the types of people who lived there or anything else that was going on. I was also told that because this was Section 8 housing that I wasn’t allowed to attend college while living there. I don’t know how true that is, but I went anyways. I ended up signing a lease for a third floor apartment with a balcony and I felt comfortable because I was told there was a security guard and cameras. The security guards only seemed to work on the first two days of the month instead of all of the time like management claimed. There weren’t security cameras on every floor. I was able to watch drug deals from my window and gangs riding shopping carts into cars in the parking lot. The screen door popped off, and I saw several other apartments where this also happened. The oven didn’t work… meaning it smoked when I turned it on. The freezer stopped working and my food actually molded in it. The walls are PAPER thin. Like I could have rubbed greasy food on the wall and I would have been able to see my neighbors. The straw that broke the camel’s back was when someone got STABBED outside my door at 2am(I happened to be awake). The next morning there was a bloody handprint on the window outside the elevators and a trail of blood that went all the way down the hallway. I told the office management I wanted to move out because of this incident and they told me that it didn’t happen even though someone cleaned up the blood and there was a cop car outside the next morning. They said«you have another prerogative for wanting to move out» and were incredibly rude and unprofessional about it. What the hell did it matter to them? I had the money to break my lease. They certainly had no interest in the health, safety, and well being of their residents. If you have to live in Cracktown, USA(AKA Waukegan), you’re better off renting part of a house from a private landlord. You’ll also probably end up in a better part of town. Also, a friend of mine used to live there and got mugged in the parking lot. So then there’s that.
