This place is really good. Food is great, service is always friendly, and you will never leave hungry. They have a bar, but the 32oz coronas are where it is at!

Hidden secret or maybe just overlooked. Either way if have never tried it you are missing something great. Burrito was large and tasty. We also had the molcajete which was not listed in the online menu and was incredible. They say it feeds 2 but its more like 4(we brought some home, great for later). Along with a Pacifico cervaza and outstanding pina coladas its was a great dinner. Atmosphere was simple but nice and the bill was a pleasant surprise.

Saw this restaurant on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. It was fantastic. The food was very traditional and pleased my picky Mexican in-laws(don’t worry, they admit they are picky). We had the steak torta, taco dinner, chicken chalupas, steak burrito and chile rellenos. All were great. Large portions — you could definitely split the burrito and most of the other dishes too. Coffee was really good too. Yes the décor is just okay but isn’t that what makes these kind of places great finds? Great prices, great food. Services was a little slow. We’d definitely go back.

Showed up here with our party of 4 around 8:30 on a Friday evening. Greeted at the door and told we could seat ourselves. That was the last interaction with anyone at the restaurant. 15 minutes later we were still seated, with no sign of being waited on at our table. We left. Don’t think we’ll ever go back here if we are in Watertown/Johnson Creek area.

Hidden Gem turns into new favorite Mexican spot ! Always love when a Mexican restaurant starts off the experience with complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were warm and served with two home made salsas. One was mild and one was hot. Our chip craving could only be filled by cheese, so we ordered the cheese dip. It was served hot and in quite a large quantity . Their menu is set out pretty straight forward. Unlike the majority of Mexican restaurants that have a mish mosh of food you pair together to make a meal — Maria’s has meals clearly set out. If you do wish to try a variety of things you can order a meal and order the other items as add ons. The staff was flexible to find a meal that works for everyone. They have all your Mexican favorites as well as other options(kids meal, Cuban sandwich etc.) They also serve breakfast ! I ordered the tamales(they are served as chicken) which came served wrapped in leaves. There’s two of them and I could only finish one and took the other home ! First tamale I’ve had in a restaurant that was moist and not dried out ! Very very authentic. Great flavor of rice and beans as well. My boyfriend got the beef enchiladas, served with the red sauce(a green sauce is offered as well). Amazing flavor and just like my tamales amazing size. His came with rice and beans as well . I would defiantly go out of my way to come here again. Everything was served hott and fresh. The service was just excellent. I hope this place does really well :) I have absolutely nothing bad to say about my experience !

I live in Watertown and eat Mexican food about once a week. Although I frequent the other Mexican places in Watertown fairly regularly, I’d give this place the nod for the best. The décor and atmosphere isn’t the greatest, but the staff have always been very friendly. They’re relatively new, and consistently making upgrades as they get established. They’ve added a bar, upgraded soon of the tables, etc… Most importantly, the food is amazing! I typically go for the chicken or chorizo quesadilla. The menu is small, but they’re quick to accommodate any request.(My girlfriend likes taco salads…) The portions are huge and you always leave full, and for a great price! My advice: Don’t judge a book by its cover and pass it up because of its exterior.

We love this place! My kids really like the tacos, my daughter loves the rice! My son likes how they have lots of choices for meats in the taco! Every time we have come my husband and I try something new! We have loved all of the things we have gotten! We come at least 1 – 2 times a month and have never had a bad experience! Yes it takes a little bit for the food that is because it is fresh not just sitting back waiting so we don’t mind the wait at all!

We are out-of-towners in Watertown for a Vball tourney. Didn’t know where to eat so gave this a try. Not a fancy décor — but EXCELLENT food. Burritos were great — both steak and chicken. Kids loved the chimi’s. We’ll be back next year!

After reading all the wonderful reviews, I was really looking forward to eating here. Unfortunately I was quite disappointed afterwards. First off, the service was horrible. The waitress seemed to forget about my girlfriend & I. Then it took about 45 minutes for us to feet our food. I had a burrito, which was mediocre at best. It had more rice than beef and needed more seasoning. I will not be going back.

This is the best Mexican Restaurant I have been to in Wisconsin. I had the Plate Molcajete which you can see my picture of. The food was hot and the special bowl keeps the meat hot through your entire dinner. Our server Estella did a fantastic job and really went out of her way to take care us. We will make the drive because the food was well worth it.

Excellent food. Service was so-so, as server didn’t seem to know the menu well, but her lack of knowledge was made up for by the exceptional food. Guacamole made to order. Best shredded beef, pork and chicken tacos(the chicken was marinated and beyond delicious! The quesadilla was GIGANTIC! And tasted great! Kids burger was good and fries were hot and appropriately salted. My only complaint was no Coke products, only Pepsi(boooooo!!) If you want to try an unbelieveably delicious restaurant, give this one a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Simply outstanding and tasty. My wife had the steak ranchero and I had the tacos with barbacoa beef. Both were extremely good and filling. We had chips and salsa, complimentary, delivered to our table within minutes of setting down. All for $ 22.50 including tax. The service was fantastic.

Not what I expected! We came in for a single day to visit family and took to Unilocal to find a place for dinner. First of all, I reside most of the year in California. I have a certain perspective of authentic and good Mexican food. After eating mostly fried food for the previous few weeks while in Wisconsin, I had to at least try this unexpected eatery. Initial impressions… run away! I felt like I was walking into a mistake. The place was awkwardly un-mexican. The place has the feel of a old family bar restaurant that ran out of business in the 80’s. The town of Watertown has a similar feeling as well. Old, dying communities in WI are not uncommon. The downtown is a relic of the 50’s and 60’s and one gets the feeling that if one more business in town closes… there will be nothing left. When we sat down, we were given the menus… but the problem is, these menus are disorganized and overly simple that our group briefly thought we should leave. The fact that we were already eating chips and salsa kept us from walking out. Second impressions… the waitress was unable to take our order because we didn’t speak English. I thought this should be alarming but then realized the young lady was simply trained to deliver water and take simple(beer) drink orders. In retrospect, she maybe is part of the family /family community. Either way, the realization is you are eating at a real Mexican restaurant. Third impressions… the menu is not the menu! When a second waitress arrived to take our order, we balked and asked if they had shrimp as well as other off menu items. The answer was YES, whatever we wanted(in the context of it being Mexican) we could get). We ordered cheese enchiladas and shrimp fajitas off the menu. We were told most regulars simply order what they want! Forth impressions… the food is exceptional! At one point, the waitress apologized for the delay saying they cook everything fresh. The wait from ordering to eating was maybe 10 minutes. The food was fresh and full of flavor. My wife and I both commented that the food tastes were of higher quality then any place we frequent back home in California. The guacamole was a great example of quality food prepared on the spot. It was not store bought and removed from a package… like you might consider. It was home-made and better than that! The chef here has a special talent and should be acknowledged! Total bill for 7 people came to $ 75. Are you kidding? This is a steal. I cant help but feel this is a great place to consider eating at. My only complaint is that I was only visiting for a day. If I lived within a 40 minute drive I would go out of my way to eat here on a regular basis.

Food was delicious and extremely well portioned. Waitress was extremely nice and was giving us samples and explaining everything in detailed fashion. Best food I’ve had in Watertown, fresh, scrumptious and recommend highly.

I had been to Maria’s just once before for Menudo. Stopped again for dinner with my wife on Friday. Server suggested a special with shrimps steak and chorizo. Amazing. Server said one serving would be enough for two. We had leftovers. This is truly authentic food. Flavors are excellent. Salsas are spicy and hot. Not watered down or store bought like many local Mexican Restaurants. If you are looking for real Mexican and not Americanized food this is the place to go. Enjoy !

Alfredo has been cooking many years in Watertown for another restaurant. Super glad he opened his own. Great portions and great flavor. Wish I had taken some pictures of everything we have ordered and consumed! The pictures alone would make you jump in your car and go there now! Maybe I can update this with a few. Great excuse to go and grab some more food. I love the goritias but I can’t seem to eat more than one at sitting, they are of good size. While my daughter love the burritos and son eats something new each time with each meeting his approval. Have eaten there at least 20x. Love to go after Saturday night church. True Mexican restaurant(by true Mexican cooks and waiters) that is simple, no bells and whistles but great taste. Good price, great food. Thanks Alfredo!

What a great surprise! Delicious variety of meats from Al Pastor, Tripas, and Chorizo along with beef and chicken and others. The chips are fresh and crispy and the salsas and guacamole are fantastic. Let your kids select their favorite Jarrito soda from a great variety! Portions are huge and everything is delivered with Greta service. You will be delighted! Magnifico!

Hands down the best Mexican food in Watertown. Had the 3 taco dinner as well as another entrée entrée I don’t recall the name of. Both were delicious and seasoned unlike any other Mexican place in the area. If you are tired of rather bland Mexican food, this is the place for you. They serve complimentary chips and salsa. The spicy salsa is a green salsa and has chunks of avocado in it. Delicious.
