The atmosphere was lovely, and no one yelled at my group of friends for laughing and having a good time. The lobster mac and cheese was yummy, but a bit more pricy than I thought it should be. Should have more lobster than it did. Nevertheless I’d go back to try something else if my friends want to go here again.

Another amazing meal and experience! We had a party for 15 which they put together a wonderful 3 course meal for us. Everyone loved the food and the service was friendly and efficient. Beer choices are good, and if you like wine they even have wine in tap. I have had many items and loved them all, for this event my husband had steak which was cooked perfect. I had chicken Madeira which was out of this world. We will be back soon!

I was recently ordered a Cobb salad to go because I pass by the restaurant quite often. The menu states a cost of $ 13 but the total when I picked it up was $ 15. The salad itself would have been just what I wanted however I did not test the dressing before I put it on. I usually like Dijon vinaigrette but this was more like straight Dijon

Ordered 2 apps and we each ordered a sandwich from the pub menu. Everything was fantastic and fresh and the portions were enormous. Our server was on the ball as well. Our 1st time here but we will definitely be back.

I lived in the area briefly, and stopped here a few times with others. I was pleasantly surprised after walking in. The place was much cleaner than I expected. I didn’t expect a pigsty just more of a local dive. I had dinner here once, and no complaints. Their menu at the time had quite a bit of options on it, and the food was good. The locals tend to hang out in the bar area, and they have a separate dining area if you want something quieter. If I were in the area again I would stop by for lunch or to relax with a drink or two for good conversation. Good little spot for you and the other half, or with a few friends. Overall a very friendly atmosphere.

We were in town for RPI orientation. Glad to have found this good restaurant. We were expecting a little pub but were treated with a nicely decorated restaurant, fairly large(linens on the table). Food was good. I had pulled pork sliders; my friend had a burger. Good selection of beers. Service was great. Kitchen closed at 9; we arrived at 9:15 but they got us in. Safe bet. Will go back again.

We live nearby ans and so find ourselves here fairly regularly. I’m not sure what keeps us coming back. Sometimes the food is decent, the cheese board is huge but sometimes it is pretty bad. I’ve had a Caesar Salad that was completely filled with grit. I guess the romaine wasn’t washed properly. I couldn’t eat it. It seems hit and miss, maybe due to customer flow and freshness issues. Recently our extended family hosted a brunch event in one of the back rooms. The food was quite good but I guess they got done with us because they came and took it all away without letting us know. Several people mentioned that they were planning to go back for seconds and the food was gone. Not awesome given the cost(they even took the pastry/dessert type items that certainly didn’t have a food safety time limit). They aren’t terrible but could definitely do better. Also very much a «local» so you will watch other people get special attention and wait for any attention at all if you’re not in the inside circle.

Okay, staff was very pleasant. The food. …if I had high blood pressure I would have went into cardiac arrest. There was soo much salt in our food! My lips still hurt today! We ended up sending our food back. The salads were good. And the herbed butter was tasty. The chef came out to greet another table, and gave us a dirty look as he passed, rather than an apology. Sad.

I recently had a late Sunday afternoon dinner with a party of four at McGreivey’s. One dinner, pork chops with apples was rated as very good. One dinner, a fish fillet covered with a shellfish sauce was rated ‘so-so’ because the diner didn’t like the yellow squash purée that was poured all over the plate. The purée was not mentioned on the menu or by the waitress. The third diner rated her French Dip as awful. Grey over-cooked meat, obviously leftover from some other preparation, disguised in a heavy coating of melted cheese. My dinner, one of their signature dishes — Jack Daniel’s steak with onion rings — was inedible. I ordered the 8oz. steak medium well done; which to me means a slight pink center. What I received was a piece of grey shoe leather that I couldn’t saw through with the steak knife. Any crispness that the three onion rings on the plate may have had in the kitchen, was lost after being buried under a mound of that same unappetizing squash goop that came with the fish fillet. Once again, the purée was not mentioned on the menu or by the waitress, and it certainly was not something that I would have ordered with that meal had I know about it. The purée moved the meal from simply being an uncaring mess to the level of ‘disgusting’. At this point Gordon Ramsey would have stormed into the kitchen and started throwing the F-bomb around. We, however, left without comment after paying $ 138 and headed for McDonalds. As bad as the dinner was, the service was quite good. I contacted the owners a few days after that nasty meal via their web site email to express my dissatisfaction. I was hoping that they might apologize and ask for a second chance. As a fair minded individual I understand that no business is perfect. I interpret their lack of a response to my email as a «who gives a damn!» and that’s why I posted this review.

The food here is always amazing. …we stopped in for a late dinner. We started with cocktails, they have a blood orange beer(seasonal) from long island that was very refreshing. We each had an appetizer, my husband had the scallops wrapped in bacon that were great. I had the bruchetta with large toasted bread. The bruchetta was large diced tomatoes with whole roasted garlic, chunks of mushrooms and basil in a balsamic dressing. Yummm. One of their specials was the prime rib, no lie it was at least an inch and a half thick! Is was accompanied by seasoned mashed potatoes and freah green beans that were al dente. My husband had the nepolilan steak which was atop a crab cake and shrimp on that. This was also served with he mash potatoes and green beans. When in Waterford, NY on your way to Vermont for leaf peeping this is a must stop.

I can’t thank McGreivey’s enough for making my sister’s bridal shower a success! She held her engagement party here as well and while I wanted to try to have the shower someplace different, McGreivey’s was the easiest to work with, the most flexible, and had exactly what we were looking for. Not having to put deposit $$ down was definitely great as well! They were super accommodating when I asked to push the start time to noon since we had the bachelorette the day before. We did the Sunday brunch menu with the bloody Mary and mimosa bar. The 2 entrees I selected were the chicken Madeira and the eggplant rollitinis. Those dishes, as well as everything else presented, were absolutely delicious! The scalloped potatoes were TODIEFOR!!! I wanted to just eat an entire plate of those! The servers were great in that they kinda just let us do our own thing(which we wanted). They were around when we needed them for the most part, a few times we had to go grab them but nothing major. They even brought us some more tables to use since we had a few of our own decoration spreads and such. Only slightly irritating but funny nonetheless thing is that there was another bridal shower in the back room(we were in the middle room). We soon found out her name was Amy because we had to keep directing people when they walked in our room by asking if they were here for Amy’s shower or Jen’s shower, lol. I wish there were signs or someone else directing them to whichever party they were attending, but it wasn’t that big of a deal and we thought it was hilarious. Icing on the cake? All along they told me a minimum of 25 people and I was fully prepared to pay for that, even though we only had 20 people. I confirmed with them several times the headcount and I’d pay the minimum. When we got the bill, they only charged us for the 20 people, not the minimum of 25. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it, was so thankful for their nice gesture. I was going to give them 4 stars but those few little extra things they did to go above and beyond what we expected fully pushed them into the 5 star category. Thanks for making this day extra special!

ZEROSTARS My family grew up in Waterford all the way back to my great grandparents, many of my relatives still reside and support the local businesses in and around Waterford — very recently my Nana passed away and it was our plan to have a small breakfast/brunch reception shortly after the funeral/burial @ St. Mary’s Cemetary. We chose McGrievey’s so that we could continue to support Waterford and the businesses present within it — also, as a convenience to many of our elderly relatives who attended, this venue would be much closer to their homes. I was absolutely surprised to hear that Mr. Riley not only refused to serve us but said that he did not want the business. This was a breakfast/brunch around 1130 – 1200 for approximately 50 – 60 people on a TUESDAY — who wouldn’t want approximately $ 1000+ worth of business for a few hours on a TUESDAY? Mr. Riley and his crew DIDNOT. I for one can say that you have done a serious disservice to our family and the Waterford community. You will never see me or my family support your business again — and I hope that people reading this realize that you only care about what’s right and convenient for YOU and you have turned your back on the community that supports you. Farewell Mr. Riley.

Service was excellent; our waitress was attentive and her timing was impeccable. There was a live musician playing acoustic guitar who was extemely talented(we sat on the back patio) and so with the candles and the flowers really made for some great ambiance. The food was outstanding and not overpriced. I ordered a double Maker’s Mark and the pour was pretty reasonable in my opinion. Left paying about $ 40 for two great entrees and two drinks. I will definitely be coming back here. A VERY classy and well run establishment in Waterford. Kudos!

I was very impressed with everything at McGreivey’s. Our meals were delivered to our table by the very knowledgeable Executive Chef. The food was served hot and was very tasteful. The waitstaff were attentive, friendly and very accommodating for our six top walk-in. The bar was PACKED! My first thought, «We’re going to be waiting for another twenty minutes just to wet our whistles.» Then, I was very, very pleasantly surprised to have both bartenders on me in a heartbeat. They were very polite, knowledgeable and had a great selection of beers on-tap and Irish whiskeys. The only drawback; it get’s super packed on a Friday and Saturday night. It was to be expected during Track season. Over-all, four stars. Good food, great live music, clean and sanitary bathrooms. Friendly service. I would recommend this place to everyone.

There isn’t many options in Waterford restaurant wise, if you are looking for a sit down meal. With that being said McGreiveys offers a casual/formal dinning. We came on a Sunday night for a quick bite to eat. Their patio looks and probably is sweet this time of year but we opted to sit inside in their dinning room. We both end up ordering something from their pub menu. I ordered their french dip with a house salad and my wife ordered just a plain cheeseburger with fries. We both agreed if the food was good we would come back and try their dinner menu. My salad came out and I order extra dressing because from my experience restaurants never dress their salad enough for my liking. Well not here I made the mistake of putting some of the extra dressing on it and my first bite was a shock for my taste buds. Don’t order extra dressing here because they put on enough as is. Needless to say my salad was inedible so I alerted the waiter and he offer me something different so I choose the oven roasted red potatoes. Our meals came out and they were good. My wife didn’t say too much about the burger so I assumed she liked it. My french dip was one of the better french dips I have had in a long time. The bread was toasted correctly and the beef was nice and tender. Top it off with some melted provolone cheese.delish. The Au jus was perfect, not too salty like others I have had else where. I will say this I wasn’t a fan of the cooked down onions in the au jus though. The oven roasted potatoes were so much better than the drenched salad I had original ordered. Defiantly worth another try to try out their dinner menu and maybe sit on their patio

I had lunch here two times this week and I was pleasantly surprised by the food. I had the crispy eggplant sandwich. The portion was just the right size and I liked the combination of roasted portabellas, red peppers and provolone, and garlic mayo with the fried eggplant. I also got the Maryland crab cake sandwich based on a recommendation. I’ve had Maryland crab cakes before(in Maryland), so it wasn’t quite the same, but I still enjoyed the sandwich and the remoulade sauce had a good flavor. I also got the carrot cake, which was just as tasty as the sandwiches. If you are ever in Waterford, go eat lunch here!

I was looking for a new place to try close to my house. The menu looked pretty good and had some good reviews. They have a dinner menu and a pub menu that is a little bit cheaper. I didn’t get to see the dining room but the bar area was nicely decorated and they also have a nice big patio outside to eat on. The menu is quite large but I was just looking for something simple. The chicken nachos were enormous and covered with toppings. By the time our burgers came out I was pretty much full. I didn’t think the burgers were anything special and I didn’t care for the macaroni salad at all. The bar area is a little loud but we had a good time and the service was friendly.

I have to admit that I was surprised by this place. I had expected simple, boring bar food. What I got was the complete opposite. They make some good dishes here, and the prices on the menu are pretty reasonable. I tried the duck, which I tend to be a bit picky about, and it was great. I guess my only complaint about the visit would be that the service was a bit sluggish. Admittedly, it was busy, but they basically had just one waiter covering the dining room. I saw other employees, but they didn’t appear to be waiting tables. I’m actually not sure what they were doing. Regardless, it was a little slow on the service end of things, but it was not unreasonable, so I don’t think it was such a big deal. Definitely unexpected, but in a good way.
