I like to try & support a local business when I can but I am rather disappointed with my recent experience with Fascia’s. I went with Fascia’s chocolates because they were the only ones that said they could customize dark chocolate. I was throwing an event and I called them a week and a half before the event, after trying several other local chocolate shops. I spent roughly, 20 minutes on the phone with them and was told yes dark chocolate bars with a special message could be done. They just had to check to see if they had the mold in stock so would have to call me back. I never received a call back so I called them to follow up regarding the mold being in stock or not. I was told yes it was found and again, yes it can be done in dark chocolate and we’ll do it in dark chocolate. Once I gave the yes to start working on the order, I was told I would receive an email that contained pictures of the mock ups. I never received that email. I did not receive the official order form and total until the day I was to pick up the chocolates. Which to me, was fine because I already knew what the total was going to be after the first conversation about kind of chocolate being used and all the pricing as well. I checked the order form and from what I saw, it all looked accurate. The chocolate bars had no specification of dark or milk on the order form. I picked it up and since it was almost closing time and the boxes were taped up for moving I didn’t check the product until I got home. Which I know I should’ve checked it there but being pressed for time I thought it was fine to check it at home. When I did check it, I saw that the bars were milk chocolate not dark chocolate. I emailed them and explained that I’m confused on the mix up. The response I received was they don’t recall ever having that conversation with me nor is there anything written in their notes about it being dark chocolate. I brought the chocolate bars back and the person I was working with gave the impression that he was only saying he wants to help fix it just to say he said it but didn’t really want to fix anything. I did get my money back but I would not recommend them for anything customizable. I did keep the other half of my order since that was correct. It was a small box containing two pieces of a chocolates but quite a few people who attended the event told me the chocolate was good but nothing to rave about.

Really nice presentation about chocolate and the business. Great little treats to try and make your own candy bar. $ 10 per person, well worth it.

The $ 10 tour including the making of your own candy bar was very fun and educational. Our five year old granddaughter was very interested in the process. A fun family event. Try the dark chocolate nougat if available.

This was another chocolate shop on the Ct. Chocolate trail and the only one of the 5 shops we tried that was excellent(the other 4 weren’t even worth purchasing anything). Huge choice of boxed and loose chocolates, extremely friendly and helpful staff definately worth the 1hr. trip from Greenwich.

Definitely take the tour and shell out for the chocolate making. The choice of toppings /ingredients is limited and not very high class(rice krispies, sprinkles, etc). However the chocolate education more than makes up for it. The choices in the shop were overwhelming and I don’t think we chose a bad truffle. My favorites were the cherry truffle and the Irish cream.

My experience here is a work in progress… I need to do more sampling, but my favorites are the latte truffle, and their caramel squares… well pretty much caramel anything is alright with me… I try to indulge cautiously when I enter a place like this as it is hard to not to go overboard with buying nearly everything… Price point is high-ish, not as high as Belgique was, but they were in a class entirely on their own… can’t really compare the chocolate… I’ve yet to try the cupcakes which look amazing, and I noticed some gelato, as I was walking out the door… Eh… maybe next time… We left with the latte and baileys truffles, and some macaroons, which didn’t last the few miles home…

Neat tour, very intelligent staff. Making our chocolate bars was SWEET. Shop was reasonably priced, lots of varieties of various chococlates … If you’re looking for something to do on a rainy Saturday would highly recommend.

This was a very nice and affordable family outing. They gave lots of samples as well as gelato. The tour was very interesting and I liked their chocolate. I just finished the chocolate bar I made and it was very good. A nice affordable thing to do!

Ten bucks will get you an education, a fun time and plenty of very good chocolate. They offer a $ 5 tour and a $ 10 tour with the ability to make your own chocolate bar. Hell, that choice is a no-brainer in my book. You walk into the store-showroom and there is candy everywhere, so if you just want to grab and go, you can. There are samples to munch on, and a gelato-sorbet case if you want a small($ 3) or medium($ 5) cup in a dozen flavors. The tour isn’t a tour in the conventional sense. You sit in a big room set up classroom style. On your right is a big glass window overlooking the production floor where you can see the chocolates being made. There is a big flatscreen TV up front that complements the presentation and featured the famous I Love Lucy scene where she works on a chocolate assembly line. Our tour guide was one of the owners, Carmen Romeo, and he entertained us with a history of Fascia’s(50 years old and started in a Waterbury basement), the history of chocolate, an education on the styles and quality drivers of chocolate, but most importantly — how to make your own chocolate bars! You start off with selecting your mix-ins(if you want them) –all kinds of nuts, sprinkles and crunchies. You get a small cup of melted chocolate to pour into your mold, you add in your mixes, smooth them out with a popsicle stick, they get chilled by refrigeration, and get returned to you for packaging. So much fun. If you have a kid, bring him or her here. This big kid sure had a blast.

One step in the store, I was surprised by a lovely large showroom for their chocolates. Chocolate high heel shoes! Adorable. The girls at the counter greeted us warmly and processed our chocolate class smoothly. It was so enjoyable, we met the manager of the family run company as he educated us about their history as well as the history of chocolate. So fun! We sampled their dark chocolate, and it is now my favorite. Very smooth and melted in my mouth. Having tried other cheaper brands of chocolates and never feeling quite satisfied with the questionable quality, it was reassuring to see their chocolates didn’t have any crazy additives and filler ingredients. The ingredient list was more of a recipe rather than a chemistry experiment. Ironic, healthier chocolate, but to me it impressed me they use 100% cocoa butter and not hydrogenated oil. Having said that, their prices are slightly higher, but it’s worth it for a rare gem of a local chocolatier. I’ll definitely support the small business.

My Daughter and I took a chocolate making class at this establishment, which was really nice. After the class we went into their showroom and purchased some chocolate. They charged $ 1.50 each for chocolate covered cherries. They were very good. So last week I took a ride up to Waterbury to purchase more. They had chocolate covered pretzels on sale for $ 1 each. I purchased 2 of those and 6 chocolate covered cherries. When the gal rang me up I nearly choked! $ 17.48. I told her to take a couple of the cherries off, so I ended up with only 4 cherries. I told the girl I had forgotten my $ 5 off $ 25 coupon that was mailed to us. She didn’t offer to extend the coupon, or I would have gotten the $ 25. Between what my Daughter purchased and I purchased we would have been there anyway. Godiva charges $ 10 for 6 chocolate covered cherries??? Do the math, $ 15.48 for 6 chocolate covered cherries, they better have something really special in them for that price. I called the store, and never heard back from the owner. I called today, and he was insistant that there was no way we ever paid for the cherries with an each price, they are sold by the lb. We definetly were charged $ 1.50 each the first time we went there. I told him that $ 15.48 for 6 chocolate covered cherries is ridiculous and that’s just my opinion. He never offered any kind of incentive for us to ever return to their store. Just as well, who needs the calories anyway.

Yes it is on the pricey side, but as with anything you get what you pay for. Fascia’s quality and texture is phenomenal. I normally hold Wilbur of Lititz, Pa as the gold standard and in high esteem. This place offers a great new location, friendly staff, and awesome chocolate for the discerning or the novice. Your tastebuds will be happy you stopped by. Dark chocolate pretzels yum! Salted caramel squares hit the spot. But the dark medallions great with anything! The gelato bar is a nice touch… only thing missing is Sankow’s Beaver Creek raw milk(BYOM) and sit inside or outside for quaint experience.
