I took my family here. 2 adults and 3 kids. We stayed only 1 night but we were very pleased with our stay. We booked the rooms from Boston and Walter sent some information about nearby attractions to our home — we read the leaflets on the highway and actually got some useful tips. Arriving was a pleasant experience with a wonderful view and a very friendly host. Before we ate breakfast Walter brought out sledes and our kids spent a good 45 minutes sliding down the frosty grass. Fun! Extra plus for the free tickets to the Ben & Jerrys factory. Highly recommended.

My husband and I rolled into Waterbury way later than we had planned, in the middle of Fall Foliage season, and without a reservation… Everyone we called on the way there was blunt and short with us, as I guess they thought we were ridiculous for not making plans earlier, or maybe they didn’t feel like preparing a room so late(8pm). Even the places with available rooms were brief and not very personable, EXCEPT for Walter. He was so charming and didn’t rush us off the phone. His price was relatively the same, but his personality sealed the deal. We drove up the hill to his lovely home and were pleasantly surprised. Even at night, the view was majestic, and it of course astounded us the following morning to wake up amidst the sweeping panorama. Our room was old fashioned and it felt a bit like we were staying back at my grandma’s. Nothing pretentious, just the basics layed out in a comfortable setting. Bathroom down the hall was never an issue with the other guests, and it was clean and well stocked with the softest, fuzziest towels… just like grandma’s! We loved it. Alas, what I’d go back for would most definitely be that orange french toast he made us(with sausages) for breakfast. MMMMMMmmmm. Thank you, Walter, for your wonderful hospitality.

While there are numerous bed and breakfasts in the Waterbury area, none of them offer the extraordinary views of Mountain Meadow View B&B. Furthermore, Walter’s hospitality and amazingly helpful approach to hosting make Mountain Meadow View the obvious place to stay whether you’re staying for a single night or a week long adventure like we did. Also, Mountain Meadow View is very convenient to Norwich University for any of you fellow alumni who have business there, as well Montpelier and Burlington. Do yourself a favor and at least give Walter a call before you book anywhere else.
