The pork ribs tasted boiled and then appeared thrown on the smoker for appearance only. No smoke ring. Brisket had ZERO smoke flavor and not much other flavor and was TOUGH. The pulled pork was tender had a bit of BBQ/smoke flavor and showed a bit of evidence of being smoked. Extremely sweet BBQ sauce. The Beans were very tasty and had more smoke flavor than any of the 3 meats I ordered. The Macaroni and Cheese was very tasty and creamy. The catfish was lightly breaded and fairly tasty. The service was phenomenal, friendly and quick. It’s just unfortunate that the BBQ tasted boiled, old and hardly smoked.

Had the brisket sandwich. Dad got the catfish platter, my boyfriend got the rib sandwich. Food is okay for the price. The prices are super cheap and it’s good for the price. Lol I know is said that already but that’s all I had to say about it. Let me see oh sweet tea is bomb the drinks are big! Except the waitress didn’t give me refill but my bf yes. Checa it out if you ever driving to see you family or friends or party’s in Lousiana!

I had some time to kill while I waited for the vet next door to reopen after lunch. So I decided to try this place. All I could think about while eating is how much time I have wasted not eating here! The prices are very reasonable. And the bar-b-que is delicious. I got a small beef sandwich plate. It came with two sides. I got potato salad which was the best I’ve had in a long time. I left full and satisfied. I’ll definitely be back and will be bringing others with me.

Went to eat early Friday evening with some friends. We had fish, chicken and a hamburger. Each one of us got had a different side of fries and onion rings. We all agreed it was great food. The only thing is the pickled tomato hunks. I didn’t get them. It tasted like the chowchow I had growing up but didn’t go with the fish in my opinion. The coleslaw was average at best. BUT, the corn fritter/hushpuppy thingys were amazing! Light and airy, they were so tasty. We did wait a while for our food, but we had great conversations with our friends. Cost was fairly inexpensive. Love the old atmosphere and décor. Would go back if we are ever back in Waskom.

Excellent! Couldn’t be happier with our dinner stop on the way back home to Tulsa. Brisket, ribs, turkey, and peach cobbler were outstanding. The potato salad was unique and possibly the best I’ve ever had. The portions were generous, and the staff and other customers were incredibly friendly. Highly recommended!

This place wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good either, it was something to fill my hunger pains for the moment. The reason why I stopped in the first place is because I saw their sign almost as soon as I crossed the Texas border. The Texas toast was dripping in butter, the potato salad tasted like it had come out of a pre-made box, and the beans had a sour taste to them. They DON“T have beef ribs, which I find odd since they are in Texas. The ribs are what gave them 3 stars, and I barely gave them that, hardly any smoke flavor at all, a bit to sweet, but the meat was tender, just not that good. So, if you are passing by and you see this place, I would suggest driving on by and searching out a Bakers ribs. Thats where you will find REAL Texas BBQ!

This place was such a wonderful experience. The employees were super kind and accommodating. I went here for the first time and after placing my order my wife and I realized we didn’t have our bank cards. The gentleman taking our order simply asked if we lived far away. We told him where we lived and his reply amazed me. I was told to go get my wallet and upon my return I would have my food ready and waiting. Now for the food. I have nothing bad to say at all. The food was amazing and the quality was nothing less than expected. I plan on many more return visits here. Great prices, portions, and plenty of personality.

Catfish is great! Very good flavor and served with excellent green tomato relish and slaw! But the real surprise were the hush puppies! Flaky and tender literally melting in your mouth!

We were stopping through on our way to SOS. We ordered the catfish and a rib plate. The food was all fine. The most notable was the side of beans. Seems like there was some brisket meat in them as well as some kick from some jalapenos. The service was absolutely 180° from the other review though. The wait staff actually saw us pause in the road deciding whether or not to get gas or food first. We decided on gas and actually pulled into the restaurant a little past closing(We didn’t realize they closed at 830). They intentionally left the sign on and the door open for us. The lady that was working(Christy) was very patient with us and made some menu suggestions and we had a nice conversation while the food was cooking.

Enjoy eating at Jim’s fast service and the food is good. Fish plate is always good and they make a good hamburger.

Sad kinda place. For a locals joint, you’d think the food would be decent… gravy for biscuits is straight out of the bag… and ZERO sausage in it. Did I say ZERO?

I give this place ONE star because I cannot give them ZERO! It was a Sunday night and my boyfriend and I were driving from Shreveport to Austin. We searched for BBQ places that we could stop and grab a bite to eat before our almost 6 hour drive home. We pulled into Jim’s BBQ, right behind another car with a couple in it. We followed the other couple into the restaurant and were expecting a warm welcome with a hello. Small towns are supposed to be warm and welcoming… right? I’m from a small town and I can tell you that no one in my town would have EVER treated us AND the other couple the way we were treated when we walked into that place. The OPEN sign was lit up on the outside, plain as day! But, when we walked in, all of the chairs were up on the tables and every worker, owner, whatever they were, GLARED at us like we had committed a crime. No one said a word to us or the other couple. There was a couple sitting up at the bar(I think this is an old Dairy Queen or something like that and converted into a BBQ place) eating. While we were waiting for the other couple to be seated, we grabbed a menu off the bar and were looking at what we’d like to order. After realizing he wasn’t being greeted, the gentleman that walked in before us asked«are y’all closed»? The lady, in a very rude voice said«yes, in 2 minutes». It was 7:28pm. Now, I know that if you are in the food service business… the days can get long and I’m sure even more-so when you are in a small town, but no small town business that I know of would ever have turned 4 paying customers(obviously new patrons) down because they were closing in 2 minutes. In my mind, you accept diners up until the time you close. After closing time, the sign goes off, the door is locked and no one else gets to come in, but those that were there prior to your closing time and those that were there WHILETHENEONOPENSIGNISSTILLON… should get to come in, order and eat even after you’ve closed your doors. Yes, it may make you stay there a tad bit later, but you are getting paid. I guess what is appauling to me even more-so than her snappy and unapologetic tone was that she never offered to ‘wrap something up to-go’ for us(we would have taken it to go) or offered any other words other than the«yes, in 2 minutes». I asked if they knew of any other eating establishments around the area that might still be open and the people eating at the bar were the ones who answered me(with Catfish Village at the next exit). We read a few reviews that the BBQ was awesome and the catfish was great(that is what I was hungry for), but I guess we’ll never find out. We walked out the door, right behind the other couple and continued on our way, shocked that we were sent away while the neon OPEN sign was still on. Thanks Jim’s BBQ, for the warm ‘small town welcome’ you gave us!

For a BBQ restaurant, their ribs were pretty bad. We were on the first of the 2 days driving from Dallas to Orlando and before we can get to Shreveport, LA, our 2 year old daughter was hungry(and tired of sitting in the car) so when we see the sign for BBQ, we had to stop and try it out. Everything(fried fish, curly fries etc…) was good except for the ribs. It was on the dry side and did not have enough flavor. Very disappointed.

Jim’s is a GREAT barbeque place! I grew up in Waskom, and absolutely love this place. Now that I’m living in Santa Cruz, CA I can only dream of food this good(and at the price!). If you are driving through this TINY little town please stop and get yourself some barbeque! Their burgers are huge so be careful ordering if you don’t have a large appetite. I always love the chopped beef sandwich and the fries, although the ribs are exceptional as well. Don’t understand how they got 3 out of 5 stars. They deserve all 5! It is an older building in a small town but the food and atmosphere is great.

Jim’s Bar-B-Que is a staple for Waskom residents, and people who are looking for their very first opportunity for Texas BBQ when you cross the border from Louisiana. Located right on the border in Waskom, Jim’s provides great ribs, good brisket, and plenty of chicken fried ____(insert your preferred meat here). Couple that with sweet or unsweet tea and you are in for a treat. They also have a fresh selection of homemade desserts. I typically go with the ribs here.
