Visiting the area and saw this place on Unilocal and figured why not. Such a great place! It’s family run but spacious. Most family owned places are smaller with only a few tables but this place was very well laid out. Great food and wide variety of sandwiches, snacks, beverages, etc. I’d love to come back!

I ate here twice in one day! I was staying at the Hyatt next door and instead of paying exorbitant prices for hotel food, I found this place through Unilocal. For breakfast I got the western omelette which I swear was ready in about two minutes. Super fast service! It was hot and chock full of cheese, ham, and veggies and came with toast all for less than five bucks. They have a great tea selection for us hot tea drinkers. Came back with my family for lunch and got the Italian sub, also ready in about two minutes. It was great! They have smoothies, soup, ice cream, sushi, and just about any kind of sandwich/wrap/salad you could think of! Tons of drink and snack choices as well. Great prices for the location! Definitely check it out if you’re at the Hyatt next door or just in the area in general.

Their sandwiches are fantastic! The service is good. There are asian snacks. The ingredients are fresh. The pricing is moderate. What’s not to like? Plus, when you’re sight-seeing and basically stranded in an area full of government buildings, this is like the watering hole in a desert!

We loved this place! Down the block from the Hyatt on New Jersey, this place has made to order sushi, paninis, breakfast sandwiches, and great salads. All at great prices! We ate there frequently.

I traveled to Washington D.C. earlier this month and stayed very near the West Wing Café. When I asked the hotel staff for an inexpensive lunch option, they recommended the West Wing; I’m so very glad that they did! The West Wing serves great sandwiches with tons of options and good, fresh ingredients. The service is accurate and fairly quick, even with the place is packed. I ended up eating there for breakfast and/or lunch every day but Sunday, when the café is closed. In addition to great sandwiches, they serve passable sushi(a good to-go option when the lunch line is long and you’re pressed for time), tons of chips, drinks, cookies, and the like, and even fruit and soft serve ice cream. Prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly. I was very happy to find a tasty, affordable place to eat breakfast and lunch in D.C.

I stop in here for breakfast once a week or so. It’s on my way to work, inexpensive and I like to sit at the counter and watch the street scene unfold. The breakfast specials are a pretty good deal, usually a choice of 3 different meals, I always get an omelet with a 16oz cup of coffee. The eggs and the coffee are both good and I never wait more than a few minutes for my breakfast to be ready.(3⁄5)

I just flew into DC and was tired from traveling all day and needed just a sandwich and a soda. I saw the café when the shuttle van was dropping me off. I thought I’d have to choke down a dry sandwich since it was the only thing open that wouldn’t cost me a ton of money. I was pleasantly surprised that the prices were moderate and I was in and out in 10 minutes. I had a roast beef sandwich with cheddar and lots of veggies. Grabbed a bag of chips and an iced tea and headed back to the hotel. The bread was good, but the roast beef was very good. Not dry at all! If you need a good, quick sandwich in DC, head there.

Awesome spot. Just like all the cool quick restaurants in Manhattan to run in, grab something healthy, and be back on your way. All the sandwich meat is Boar’s Head. They have a bunch of unique sandwich varieties. You could eat there 30 days in a row and never get the same thing. The prices are also awesome for right in the heart of DC. Like less than $ 7 for a nutritious sandwich! They have sushi and lots of drink options too. The check out procedure is cafeteria style for efficiency as well. Definitely recommend this spot! Only downside is there’s no close parking other than getting lucky and finding a street spot.

I came here twice in one day, both trips were very light yet worthwhile. 1st was for Tea & a vegan friendly treat in the AM. The 2nd was for lunch additions of Miso Soup, Sahale Snacks & a Bruce Cost Ginger Ale. From the outside one may think it’s just a Deli, however it is a full fledge café in an enormous space. There’s a full service deli in the back with 4 huge panels of menu items spanning across the back wall, offering Breakfast selections, Sandwiches, Hot Panini’s & Salads. They offer a counter of the same length stocked will bakery items, some made in house, other speciality items from local bakeries, Kosher & Vegetarian options are present. There’s a blackboard with colorful chalk writing listing their ‘Today’s Special’ with a few Sandwhich options, Soups of the Day & Sushi Service. Drink options galore… hot tea/coffee, soda machine, fresh juices, energy & healthy drinks, smoothies, a variety of ethnic drinks, & even alcoholic beverages that must be consumed inside. They have a few coolers dedicated for desserts, cheeses, fresh fruits & probiotics. & there are displays, displays & displays of chips, candy, healthy & natural snacks & other odd consumable treats… even health supplements. It’s a 5 – 7 minute walk from Union Station, located on the corners of NJ Ave/D St. & any of the employees you cross paths with overly helpful & friendly. You can’t beat the prices for the Cap Hill area.

West Wing Café is an average deli with over inflated prices. I went here this week and ordered from the Mexican grill. The meat was cold and veggies seemed to have been sitting out for awhile. A bowl of veggies and chicken, without a drink, was nearly $ 9.00. I thought this was overpriced for the quality and quantity of food received. The other kicker is that it is not open on the weekend. Living in this location, you’d hope the businesses would cater to local residents. It seems this location is really more concerned with the business transplants M-F.

If you are on or around capitol hill, this is a good place to stop for a snack. Counter service, at 3 pm we were too late for the sushi bar, but we warmed up with a nice large $ 4 bowl of soup. Choice of 3: vegetable, beef stew, or chipotle chowder. Self serve. I made a mix of the 3! They also have a choice of sandwiches and paninis and lots of snack food. Lots of seating.

Decent café for lunch! I visited recently with some coworkers and ordered the sushi — spicy tuna roll. The sushi was fresh and filling enough, though a little pricey for the portion I received. They also serve sandwiches, salads, and soups. I’d previously visited the West Wing Café location near Union Station /Noma(it’s a chain) and had ordered a salad, which I enjoyed. They have plenty of seating in the café and it’s very casual(you seat yourself). One odd thing was that the sushi chef wouldn’t even make me the roll until I fully paid at the front of the restaurant. Very weird! I don’t know if my coworkers had to do the same for their sandwiches. Overall, this isn’t a bad place. It’s fairly close to Judiciary Square and Capitol Hill. I would visit again.

Need a quick grab and go meal while at work or out touristing? This is the place for you. It’s just like those little cafes every office building has, but on steroids and with better food. They have a GIANT menu of sandwiches, soup, salad, sushi, frozen yogurt, basically anything you can think of for a super quick lunch. It gets crowded but since no one is there to stay and linger the lines move fast and the tables open up quickly. The layout is a little confusing to navigate. Basically you go around and pick out all the different things you want from their individual sections then take it all to the cashier to check out before sitting down to eat. It’s definitely very honor system based and I wonder how much money a year they lose with this system… Anyways good option for a fast meal!

Very affordable, quick, and great food right next to the capital. A BLT was $ 4.99, Cajun Turkey wrap(huge, delicious, and packed with meat) was $ 6.99, and a large fresh fruit smoothie with raspberries/strawberries/banana and more was $ 4.79. All were delicious, large for the price, and made super fast. Highy recommend.

Came here everyday while staying at the Hyatt next door. The food and coffee is good. They even have a self serve soft serve station. On average I paid under $ 10 for an omelet and a medium café mocha. I also bought all my water and snacks here for under $ 7. The staff are nice, but the locals are not. It’s super close to Capitol Hill and lots of patrons feel like they’re more important than you. They try to cut in front of you and dong give you personal space to pay. Make sure you say, «excuse you.» They will literally be up in your wallet area during the lunch hours.

I was out lobbying on Congressional Hill, and I had a two hour break between meetings. Unilocal brought me to the West Wing Café. If you are in the same boat, this is one of the closest options, and it is super reasonably priced for this part of the city. Italian Sandwich($ 8) — A cold deli sandwich. Nothing special. The quality of meat is excellent and there is plenty of cheese. The sandwich was ready crazy fast. There is a good amount of seating, but at lunch time you will have to hover for a table. The only weird thing is that they run on a loyalty system. They leave drink cups out, and they assume that you will tell them you are getting a drink. Not the best idea in a busy place, as I am sure their Inventory Turnover ratio is too high due to people stealing drinks. Nonetheless, the drinks were standard priced, and the iced tea was good.

Great food and immaculately clean restaurant! And very reasonable price for breakfast in DC. We had bagel sandwiches, and they made eggs and bacon for picky kid. Not fancy, but good food, pleasant surroundings, check it out. Short walk from Union sStation and the Mall.
