Washington Convention Center

Came here for the Car Show. The Backpack screening took a while yet once in, it was a good experience looking at all the candy paint rides.
Every manufacturing Spokesperson was friendly, not vying for your personal information to harass you later for sales pitching. They gave away free goodie bags, & had many drawings to win cars & vacations.
The center’s staff was kind with guiding people & answering questions. An abundance of Signage to direct with you ease. Stairs/​Escalators are very present, and there’s a small section when you arrive to rent Scooters. There’s also First Aid offices on each exhibit hall floors.
They offer massive food options including a «Food Show» that serves as the Food Court, that had various eateries, categorized as the Uptown/​Downtown Food Districts. They offer a range of Jamaican, Asian, Seafood, & BBQ foods. There’s also kiosks providing coffee/​tea, baked goods & fresh fare/​Vegetarian items.
For the enormous crowd, the PO-PO’s were actually pretty friendly and helpful.
The fleet of 2017 rides were sleek & shiny, yet those MSP tags were ludicrous. Example, the Toyota Land Cruiser was tagged at $ 74K, WTH?! I can only imagine what their luxury Lexus ⁴⁷⁰⁄₄₅₀ runs. All good, nothing like window shopping for various cars/​trucks.
The money spent on the renovations was welled invested, as this super space for events located in the Mount Vernon area is a in awe architectural accomplishment. For the faithful Metro riders, it’s a quick walk from the MVS station off the Green/​Yellow lines.
It was a fun way to avoid the aftermath of the snow & cold weather & creativly car shop at the same time.

My husband and I were recently in DC for the American Dental Association meeting, and spent three days here taking CE classes. We go to the meeting each year so we’ve seen a lot of different venues, and this is pretty standard as far as convention centers go.
The ADA provided busses at host hotels to get attendees to the center each day but we found the Metro much faster and more convenient. You can get to the center on the green or yellow line. Get off at the Mt. Vernon Sq /​7^th Street stop.
It’s an enormous space spread out over two buildings, so if you’re in town for a meeting you may want to get here a bit early to figure out where everything is.
There is some fairly nice art /​sculpture scattered throughout the public areas. I loved finding the enclosed spiral stairway painted with brightly colored rectangles, designed by Sol Lewitt. It’s called «Wall Drawing #1103» (2002). There’s some really crappy art too. Those sculptures made of sports equipment dangling from the ceiling did not impress me.
There were plenty of restrooms, and they were all clean. The free WiFi worked well enough. The temperature was reasonably comfortable.
My only real complaint is the lack of places to get breakfast /​lunch. There were kiosks set up here and there in the public areas where you could get something pre-​packaged then sit on the floor somewhere and eat. Down on the convention floor on the periphery of the vendor’s booths you could find more kiosks with pre-​packaged meals and a few more permanent set-​ups where you could grab something hot and greasy then find a seat at one of those enormous round tables and eat with strangers.
One solution we discovered is to find the underground maze-​like entrance to the Marriott right outside the convention floor and grab a bite at one of the two restaurants in the lobby. We had a fairly nice lunch at Anthem.
So, overall, it’s not a bad place if you’re in town for a big meeting. Just be aware of the dining options.

Attended several classes here. It was fairly easy to navigate to all the rooms, and the seats in the rooms were comfortable. As with many convention centers, it can get chilly with the frosty A/​C so be sure to bring a jacket or layer your clothing.
Bathrooms were clean and there are several kiosks throughout the buildings for snacks and drinks if you get hungry or thirsty.

Nice and well kept venue for a conference. The exhibit hall was huge. Bathrooms were large and clean! They had a coffee cart in one half and a Starbucks in the other half so no worries about caffeine withdrawal. Location on/​near the hill which allows for easy access to tourist attractions when you need a break. Lots of hotels that are within an easy walking distance too.

Love the look of it and it is sooo big inside! Went there today to get my son and daughter their bibs for the mcm kids run for 10÷24÷15. It is awesome looking!

We had a wonderful time at the International Festival held here. The music was on point and the different display of dancing from each represented country was outstanding. North Africa dancers were a surprise, I did not know that North Africa had so much diversity in their culture. We watched as a African, Asian and a mature Caucasian woman danced for North Africa. My favorite was smelling the different culture food and visiting the different country booths. One suggestion would be to have the different season or spices that your country cook with at the next one. I like trying different spices!

I ‘m here at the Treasury Department’s 2015 OFAC Symposium. Beautiful facilities. Very clean and modern. Guards greeted us at the door, showing us where the opening session would be held.

This is really a beautiful and massive place. Attended a boxing card here last month and literally got lost trying to find the entrance. Once I found it, I didn’t realize I would need a Segway to get where I was going. Prepare yourself for some walking. Closest restroom from where the fights were taking place literally took me 2 minutes to get too. Other than that it really is a great place to host almost any kind of event. Located in the heart of D.C., it is very metro friendly and located close to a lot of restaurants. Would definitely come back for another boxing card here!

I have attended a lot of meetings and events at this venue. The convention center houses the largest collection of art that isn’t in a museum. If you ever get the opportunity to take the art tour, do it. Metro is across the street. There are lots of area restaurants if you don’t want to purchase convention center food items. The web site calendar is worth reading.

AwesomeCon 2015 brought out the Best today! This venue has hosted several various events in DC and has done a Awesome Job this go round! The venue is always visibly clean and several staff are available to assist you in any way. It’s great to be able to hold a few events at the same time in one place. I’m concerned that once MGM opens it will draw away from this venue. The venue would really serve best with other vendors being able to offer food instead of the basic menu being offered now. The menu & price don’t match the quality!

This place is HUGE! The building is quite nice and attractive. The only thing I didn’t like is the cost of food within the convention center. It’s ridiculously overpriced, but luckily there are tons of restaurants nearby with cheaper options. I never had to wait in line in the restroom, which is always a plus.
My tablet was stolen on my first day at a conference at the WCC. While filing a claim with security, they informed me that «stuff gets stolen here all the time» and that «you can’t trust the cleaning people.» So, take that for what it’s worth.

I’m not even sure how to review a convention center, since you’re not really there for the center itself but rather whatever they were hosting. Still, I suppose of a rental facility doesn’t do its part it could ruin events that use them. Luckily, that was not the case with the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
Located right in the heart of DC, this place is convenient, well-​kept, and has some impressive capabilities. The single convention I attended benefited from the amenities (including a food court), the technology (including video screens), and tons of room. No, seriously, they used a super-​warehouse sized convention hall plus a dozen panel/​meeting rooms of various size, without even using the entire center itself.
Staff are typical DC, so take that as you will. If you’re so «sensitive» you cry because someone is curt with you, then maybe you won’t be able to handle their security… but then again, maybe you should move to another city. Otherwise, they’re professional and do their job to the best of their ability.
The one complaint we had was the limited wi-​fi for event staff. This was a contributing factor to the delays and huge lines, as the centers limited Internet couldn’t handle dozens of vendors and the organizations ticket scanners. Maybe they need to invest in multiple lines instead of running everyone through a single router?
Otherwise, I like this place and I think it’s a good one to use for everything from major conventions to smaller business meetings.

We went to the auto show here for the first time and really liked it. What helped was going on a weekday first thing, that is, when it opened at 12 noon. We went by bus so as to avoid parking hassles and fees. We got tickets ahead of time but since another person joined us we got a $ 10 ticket there, which was $ 2 off the regular price of $ 12 if you have a Smart trip Metro card. While the auto show is awesome, it’s worth knowing that it’s easy to get lost in this place as the layout, stairs, floor levels are not well signed or posted despite some of the staff really trying to help with directions. Went to the WingsoverDC counter for some spicy fries but there weren’t any, or so the counter person snapped at me, so got plain fries — turned out to be hot and fresh and tasty. It is wheelchair accessible, including the bathrooms.

I’ve only been here for Auto Shows. I purchase tickets before hand, print, wear comfortable clothes, and pack my purse light.
The lines moves fast, the ladies room is very clean for a large amount of people in and out.
Many parking options near. Not familiar where it is – just follow the crowd – it’s likely they’re going where you are too.

The Washington Convention Center is a very nice, and very standard convention center. The layout is a bit confusing and the food selections are not good at all.
McCormick place in Chicago, the San Diego Convention Center, and Vegas are much nicer.
However, it is important to note that if you are coming here it is likely for a major event and you likely have no other choice.

Nice place to celebrate big events. A lot of motivated people. Chefs know what they are doing some great food gets made by those guys.

Located just north of Chinatown, w/​its own metro stop (its really not that far of a walk from CT though), this place is absolutely massive. I felt like I was entering a museum or sporting venue rather than a convention center.
We came here for the DC Craft Beer fest (Spring Edition). We briefly stopped at the Starbucks in the lobby for a small bite before going up 2 flights to the festival. From up there, this place looked even bigger. We were directed away from the large ballroom (complete w/​balcony level) around to the edge a landing that ran the entire southern edge of the building. There enough room on that landing to hold a smaller version of the festival!
Judging by the room we were in, this building is fairly new. It looked sharp, which is a nice contrast to all of the older things around it.
I look forward to the next thing that comes up requiring me to come here.

While I have enjoyed coming here for different events, yesterday’s visit was less pleasant.
I emerged from the metro (conveniently adjacent to the center) and walked in. A security person stops me and asks what I am doing. I tell him, and he basically refused me but then conceded, «Go ahead.»
I am annoyed because there are a few entrances and other people are not being stopped and asked what they are doing at the convention center. This guy might have been doing his job but he was short and rude. Our 15 second interaction left a bad taste in my mouth.
Steer clear of people on a power trip.

WiFi: Docking them 1 star before I even start my review because their wifi SUCKED. Grant it, this may have been because the convention I was attending there had over 50k people in and out of there over the course of 7 days.
Metro:The Green/​Yellow Line Metro (Mt Vernon/​7^th Street) stops right at the convention center. Go up the escalator and walk right in, you never have to be out in the elements.
Parking:The other star for the Street and «whereever you can find it» parking. Rediculous.
Food: there is a Starbucks in there someplace for coffee. Typical convention food. The gem here is that the ceneter is located right on Restaurant Row and next to China town where there are plenty of Asian Restaurants. So, there is no shortage of decent food to eat.
The facility: in general is nice.
Layout: I never knew where I was in there. That made it somewhat annoying. I will assume the layout is ideal for multple functions, but it was pretty much an annoyance. I could not figure out how to get back to the same place everyday
